  • I'm 42 with 20 to go. Feel free to add me! I'm always looking for active people on MFP!
  • @Afura - I can say there's really no rhyme or reason at this point. It's just a move to try to eat healthier and shed some calories and fat content from my diet. What I likely need is a nutritionist who can help establish a more regular diet given some dietary sensitivities. My salads are usually romaine lettuce, carrots,…
  • Thanks for the ideas! usually for a snack I'll have some fresh fruit cut up and mixed with greek yogurt, protein bar, or protein drink (I like the Premier Protein drinks or Pure Protein bars). My company covers the first $10 of our lunch, so it wouldn't be uncommon to order pizza or a burger from a local restaurant…
  • Great question - in general, I tend not to eat healthy, so I'm working things into my diet a little at a time to try and change that. I figured if I can add salad in 2-3 meals a week, that's 2-3 meals where I'm not eating something that I would likely consider unhealthy. Call it a start to a lifestyle change.
  • Wish I could run right now, so great races on this list near me. Need to resolve some back issues first though. Thanks for sharing!
  • Tequila on the rocks is good. Believe or not George Clooney owns a tequila called Casamigos and it's very smooth over ice. Otherwise vodka and diet raspberry iced tea.
  • Hi - way to get going again! I sent you a friend request, please feel free to add me. I'm pretty active with encouraging my friends on the app and I've got about 20 pounds to go myself. Happy to help! Best, Mike
  • Greg - your goal is very similar to mine. I'm around 218 now and have fluctuated between 208 and 221. Ideally, I'd like to be under 200, it's been a long struggle. I sent you a friend request, happy to help provide motivation (on my second time using the app).
  • Someone recently suggested taking a deck of cards and writing an exercise on every card. Then flip the cards and do the exercise. Draw the 10 of hearts, do 10 minutes of jump rope. Draw the 5 of spades, do 5 burpies. Draw an ace and do 11 minutes of running in place. Etc... good luck! Let us know how you're doing!
  • Tito's vodka and diet snapple iced tea works for me. 1 shot of Tito's is only 80 calories and my drinks last twice as long as beer or wine. If you can't get rid of beer, most are 100 - 150 calories per beer. Go for the flavor with a Rolling Rock @ 130 calories per 12 oz bottle. Wines, I would stick to reds over whites…
  • Wilton, CT has a 4th of July 5k fun run on Saturday. http://www.wiltonparksandrec.org/documents/2015FreedomRunRoadRace.pdf
  • I like to think I was fit before and that I'll be fit again. Perfect world, I'd be happy dropping 40 pounds. Realistically, given crazy kids schedules, long hours at work/commuting, where's the time to workout and still spend time with kids (outside of their crazy schedules) and loved ones? I view working out as disposable…
  • Jad - congrats! Good luck with the good health lifestyle change! It takes time. Let us know how you're doing with it. What are your goals?

  • You can all feel free to add me on MFP. I'm always good for an encouraging comment or status like. I'm trying to drop weight and change my fitness level, but doing it in small increments. Ideally, I'd like to be 170 pounds (I'm 5' 11"), but my body has always carried more weight. I'm around 215 now. First goal is 200.…
  • I just turned 40 last year. Similarly it wasn't a found the meaning of life event, I have 3 boys and they are very active. I just found I was having a hard time keeping up with them. I don't consider myself overweight. When I got serious about MFP again I weighed in at 218, but looking at me you wouldn't know it (it…
  • I do a lot of challenges on Fitbit. The extra motivation really helps me keep moving.
  • Surprised by the number of daily weigh ins. I'm an every couple of weeks guy. If I do it daily I start to obsess over it and get mad when the scale climbs because of the daily fluctuations.
  • Hey all - I've been on and off MFP for a couple of years. I've lost weight and gained, and now trying to lose again. I'd be happy to have some more motivators out there to keep my sweet tooth in check! Feel free to add me as well.
  • Too far from Berlin, but happy to provide encouragement!
