I love running, me. Here's my strava: http://www.strava.com/athletes/3678957 Feel free to add me as a friend too as not many in "real life" stay awake when I mention tapering or intervals or what-not :)

Oops, I thought I had! You came with me to see my family /We took a drive one night One moment’s life slipped on black ice/ And disappeared down the hill On Christmas eve / Would you believe / We used the sirens for light Comedy is tragic from a far/ We’re still learning but we’ll never learn it all And I hope you know/…

Oh, I see.. :(

Yeah, don't worry about other people's times, especially if you're just starting out. I can't remember what I was like before, but I never used to run very far at all without stopping.. just keep it going and you'll get faster and further in no time at all

Sorry to hijack, but I'm in a similar situation - got down to the lower regions of "ok" weight on a BMI chart, but still very flabby. Here's a daft picture of me, but as you can see my arms are pretty skinny so I don't want to lose more weight, more look at those bicycle tyres!…

Sounds like you're doing great. Depending on your weight, you'll be working off calories by walking for sure. I know someone who lost about 5st over a few years purely from getting a job as a security guard (in a small complex). Those games should help too, but not sure how much. If you're hearts beating faster, then that…

Sorry for the delay.. Thanks for the reply guys. Just going to keep at it and see what happens :) at least I'm getting fitter and stronger by the day

What is your regular training pace per mile? I usually run 3/4 miles a time at between 7.5/8 minute mile What's your race pace? My best 10k was 7.25 minute mile What do you consider a "fast" pace? Well I did a 5k in 6.7 minute mile What's your goal pace? Well I'm onto half marathons now, but I'm hoping for around just over…

I appreciate I won't get abs that quick, but I was worrying if I was going to get any at all! :) Nutrition.. well, that's a downfall. Always eat under maintenance calories, but not necessarily very heathily (see diary for more on that...) Good work by the way! I will say that little "dint" you've got in second photo.. I'm…

My "oh crap I'm fat" photo used to be this: But now I look more like this: (only, usually less camp... usually.)

Cheers guys - I think a gradual build up from now until July-ish is a good plan, then stick to a regular plan. I usually run about 8-10 miles in the week, then 3/4 miles at the weekend, so will keep the same and up the weekend milage (and do the hill stuff too!)
-
Just signed up for the GNR too, my first half-marathon; see you there KatManx!
-
Thank you for your reply :) Was not aware of the hills, thank you for the advice.. I live in a valley so only usually do flat runs, ha! Will definitely do some hill repeats and what-not in that case...
-
Thanks guys Building muscles isn't a massive priority, getting a flatish stomach is.. will that do hand in hand though?
-
Massively late reply, but thank you both! I ended up doing a 10k at the start of December in 47 minutes, so I'm now aiming for sub-45mins in March... 8 week plan starts soon
-
Good for you! Running 20 miles a week 7 weeks before the run is more than fine. I say you keep going ad you are, then follow a 10 week online plan or something?
