I've tried a couple recently (a tabata class and an outdoor interval training class), more from wanting to do new things fitness wise and try something out of my comfort zone than to make friends (but that would be cool). It seems to be several people already know each other and are talking, and I'm not great at…

I should have taken the time to read more of the thread, it must get tiring having to re-answer the same questions for so many people. But I do really appreciate that you took the time to help me, thank you.

Hi usmcmp, great post. I do have a question about #4, because the wording is a little confusing to me. What if you just like a form of cardio such as running? Are you just saying all you need is an hour a week but more is fine, or are you suggesting that me going for a run a few times a week is actually counterproductive…

If you were actually hungry, not the same exercise but I have found sometimes when I run I feel fine beforehand so I don't eat even though it is around mealtime and then I get dizzy or am starving afterwards and overdo it. So if you can stomach it, have a small snack to give you some fuel for your workout (an apple with…

Hey I'm the same age! Good luck you got this!

I'm about to hit 120. Feel free to add me.

In addition to the water and clean eating ... catch up on some sleep.

Nice work!

This sounds like fun... I don't have that much weight to lose though. Maybe I can figure out an alternative lifting challenge along this theme... like adding that much weight to my squat or something.
-
I've noticed that too. Also a lot more female success stories... there have to be some guys out there killing it as well.

I hear you, it is hard meeting friends as an adult. Especially when work and kids take up a lot of your time. I'm trying classes to get out there. I live near my hometown so my good friends are all around here, I can't imagine the difficulty of relocating where you don't know anybody.

I love reading race reports, so interesting to hear other runner's experiences. Congratulations on joining the marathoner club! Finishing (and without injury) is huge!

If you like the carbonation just get carbonated water and add a little bit of actual juice, not artificial sweeteners. It's a tiny bit sweet so its not completely boring, but I have actually grown to like drinking just plain carbonated water as well.

Of course it is a supplement... if it is taken in addition to (supplementing) your regular diet. But is it bad? No, especially if you pick one that comes from natural sources. Are egg whites a supplement? It's not "natural" to just eat the white part of an egg poured from a carton... but most clean natural/clean eaters…

A couple of tips: - Stick to the plan. There are a reason the long runs are a certain length. There is a reason you run a certain amount during the week and rest on certain days. My first marathon I was an intermediate runner, and thought I know what I'm doing, I can skip this day and add some miles on here, etc and it led…

I haven't figured out 3 but one of them would be "what are your friends like?" You can tell a lot about someone by the people they choose to spend time with.

I am looking for a more tangible goal right now... training for a race is easy to quantify, you can either make the distance or not. Then you can do it in the time you hoped to or slower. With lifting it seems more arbitrary. I'd like to be able to do a lot of pull-ups, but I don't know what "a lot" is. I can do 9. I'd…

I like both the same as well. I ran a marathon last March and got a little burnt out on running for a while, but now that the weather is nice I'm getting out there more. I like having an option when the weather is bad (can't take the Southern heat and humidity either), or I am at home with the kids and leaving the house…

I like what I do and I'm really good at it. That is a good feeling, and I'm lucky that I was able to have that opportunity. And luckily it also pays the bills. That being said there are things about my particular job I sometimes don't like... red tape, office personalities, etc. But you can change places and there will…

Currently going through it and so far I'm the fitness is going great, I'm in the best shape I've ever been lol, I don't know if it will stick but it's been 3-4 months. Honestly it didn't start as a plan to show her what's she's missing, or to win her back, I just didn't have an appetite and wasn't sleeping hardly any. I…

How much weight do you have to lose? Both marathons I had run I had gone from my kind of normal weight of 165-170 up to my heaviest (190) and lost the 20 pounds over the course of marathon training without doing much change in diet just from the sheer number of calories burned each week. The advice I have always heard was…

My problem seems to be a lot of protein sources that I like are either high in fat (like greek yogurt) or a bunch of extra carbs (some protein bars). So I get my protein number up, but percentage wise I always end up with fat or carbs in a higher percentage than I want for the day. You really do just have to eat plain lean…

I tried a non-stimulant pre-workout, but I didn't like how the Beta alanine made me feel like pins and needles all over. I think I already drink too much coffee for it to do anything for my workouts. I'll take creatine when I'm lifting heavy, but normally I just do some BCAAs.

I am realizing I like things being in order and predictable and there were a lot of my things in my life that I was trying to control that I couldn't and worrying about things I could not change. And it kind of clicked that this is something I can. The working out part can be hard... you could have little time, sickness,…

I don't really notice or care. But like most things I think we are most sensitive to the things we see as flaws in ourselves and others don't notice them as much as we think they do. I had bad acne as a teenager, and I'm sure that was noticeable then but I'm pretty sensitive about my skin because it has some flaws. Also…
