  • Also measuring salad dressings helps a lot too I found find I can be quite satisfied with half a serving of salad dressing which is usually about a tablespoon. I find it's better to mix the salad thoroughly than just drizzle it over the top.
  • Spinning class for an hour I would burn 6-700 calories per my HRM. After that cardio sculpt classes which is an aerobic activity using weights 3 to 400 per hour. Rollerskating, Deepwater exercise class, zumba, cross training class anywhere from 250 to 400 per hour. When I started I had much higher burns as I am more in…
  • I lost over 50 pounds and am over 40, I hover between 55-60 lost with the goal of losing 75-85 pounds in total. I still have 20-30 to go and expect it will take the rest of this year for sure, possibly longer. The good news is, I am fairly happy with where I am as far as being it LOTS better shape then I was 2 years ago,…
  • For me I can most easily resist sweets and drinks. I try to keep breakfast light, which is also easy for me. Where I get into trouble is appetizer type dishes, and portions. In general I find if I stay away from all fried foods and not eat to being STUFFED I can maintain or even lose a little. I can be satisfied with a…
  • Been around but always looking for more pals, going to add as well. Good luck to all!
  • I put off losing weight for years I have done it in the past and over time it all came back out and then some. After having my daughter I didn't put a lot of effort into losing weight and really wasn't all that interested I was not unhappy on a day-to-day basis. If I allowed myself to dwell on it yes I was unhappy being so…
  • Thanks for sharing going to check some of these out.
  • I rollerskate and wear a heart rate monitor if I go nonstop it a pretty good clip I burned about 300 cal in 45 minutes to an hour. It feels like a pretty comparable work out too when I do an hour-long Zumba class which is also about 300 cal an hour. I know age And weight factor into the calories you burn but I would…
  • Sounds like me, For sure not always being honest or realistic about portions is what got me into trouble. I finally strung together a few good good days in row and really got back to exercise and feeling much better these days. I also got a bunch of new clothes for Christmas in smaller sizes some of which were tighter than…
  • Just an FYI folks, thread is from 2011...and user account that started this has deactivated their account
  • Just for funsies I weighed an apple I ate yesterday, I would have logged as "medium" which was 80 some calories on MFP. However its weight not quite twice that amount should have been 140 calories, I still had the apple I just shared with my 8 year old. Do this with several items throughout the day, and you have consumed a…
  • When I first join and had a lot to lose, it was very accurate, I would say through the first 30 pounds or so it was within a 1/2 pound. Remember what it says IF everyday WERE like today...there are loads of variables which can make everyday very different from every other day. But for me when the weight came off steadily…
  • I roller skate, in a rink. I wear a heart rate monitor and usually skate to burn 300 calories which is about 45-60 minutes almost non stop at a good pace. This is during adult skate which is a faster pace then when I go with my 8 year old and I am ducking and slowing for kids.
  • Good luck, it is a never ending challenge! Off to add you as a new pal.
  • Salsa, or salsa mixed with ranch, lighten it up a bit. I find if I measure out salad dressing which is usually 2tbls per serving and mix well it is enough, just mark it fit in my goals for the day.
  • Eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, bananas, granola bars, pretzels, brussel sprouts, olive oil, chicken. I have many of these daily. Also off to Pinterest to look for mason jar salads.
  • There is a website called my body gallery.com, you put in your weight height and body shape and I'll give pictures of real people who posted their way that shape category.
  • I will be 44 in a month, close enough, more pals around the same age would be great!
  • I have learned over the last 12 months or so, that if I don't eat to full/uncomfortable that I can manage holidays and events where food/drink is plentiful and yummy. I also try to remember this little motto I made up "make it about the company, not the food".
  • I would be happy to lose a solid 4-6 pounds, meaning lose that much and not bounce up and down from that. That will put me just 10 pounds outside of healthy range for my height and age. I have pretty much lost no weight since 4th of July and been up and down the same 5 pounds since then. So 4-6 pounds should be do-able but…
  • I agree planning out your day in advance, even by a day, if it is not in my plan or list it is not mine to eat. I had to realize I can eat anything and everything I want just not all on the same day. If I know I am going to eat out or be less in control in the evening then I eat less for breakfast, skip the morning snack…
  • Do you have access to a pool? Last winter I sprained my ankle and was still able to do my deep water exercise class, while still on crutches, my foot never touched the bottom. Thankfully the pool had stairs so I could get out, I would not have been able to use the ladder in the beginning. Hope you heal fast!
  • Me too, the first few months it matched pretty close. I recorded ahead several times to see. In the begin for me I ate my cals very consistently and did very little exercise.
  • This time period is also my toughest to get through, I now account for it with a mini meal, really like many of the options noted above but I plan for it daily. I try to allow 1-300 calories and eat about halfway between lunch and dinner. One of my most favorite lately is Oikos key lime yogurt and I use graham crackers to…
  • I lost the first 40 pounds or so with little exercise beyond walking, this was probably the first 5-6 months. I first used MFP to log food to see what was going wrong, which I sort of knew. Logging thousands (or nearly) of calories in a day via huge portions and random snacking helped come up with a plan. I would say for…
  • This morning a cross training class, 60 minutes, and this evening zumba 60 minutes.
  • I started using the Diva Cup about 4 years ago and have virtually no symptoms most get with TOM, before and during. If you have not heard of it and have an open mind google it.
  • I will look today for a recipe for apple, pork, onion kabobs, I think it had an apricot glaze. Bookmarking hopefully I can remember and find the cookbook. I used to make this a few times a summer, kind of forgot about it until this post.
  • Sounds like me, I have sort of accidentally been in "maintenance" for the summer deciding on a game plan to drop the last 20 pounds. Sending some friend requests:smile:
  • Good luck, I did not eat bad either in very general terms but my portions had become epic and I did snack more then I kind of realized. I was also just a step above sedentary on top of this. I have been here just about 1 year and have improved pretty much every aspect of my health, eating and fitness because I found this…
