KnitOrMiss, I am hypothyroid, been on Levothyroxin for about 8-10 yrs. All that my family physician has done are the TSH tests but always felt my thyroid dysfunction has not been under control. Now I wonder if you could be right & that it might be my thyroid instead of my heart that is causing the fluid retention. Don't…

I am a little worried about this cardiologist's advice. My reason for seeing him is that I have been retaining fluid for almost 8 years. The only way my family doctor has chose to treat me is with a diuretic & potassium all these years. I practically had to tie him down to tell me why & all he could only say was to go back…

Thanks Sunny for the info. I printed it so I can read it more thoroughly. I'm trying to stay around 50g carbs a day to start, 20 seems really difficult to stay on right now. I've been doing this for 6 days & have lost 9 lbs. I' weighed in at 292 & was 283 this morning. I really like fruit so limiting it will be a challenge.

Hi! I also need to lose 150. It's been slow for me, slow metabolism & thyroid disease is not helping me but I keep coming back here because it is the only thing that has worked for me to lose weight. I lost 37 lbs last year but then quit logging for about 2 months & gained 23 back so I'm here again and relost 13 lbs since…

Just an update to anyone who replied to my earlier post. I am still around, luckily although I had a big scare almost 2 yrs ago. Because I never had the hernia repair I had a bowel strangulation as a result & had to have an emergency surgery to repair the bowel & hernia. a large mess was put in place & it was done without…

Thanks! The scooby workshop is a great tool to figure out calories but I don't feel I'm burning 600 calories doing mostly stretching & walking in the pool. If I was moving at a good pace for the full hour then yes I would say that is accurate. I was hoping that someone who is doing what I do with a arthritis water class…

The YMCA in my city has a arthritis water class which is great for people with knee or other joint problems, a great way to start out in the pool before attempting the weight bearing exercises. I started out with a punch card, mine was $35 for 10 visits good for just the pool classes but it was good to find out if I would…

Talking about being approached by strangers wanting to help, has anyone ever been approached on mfp by someone with a friend request offering to help with your weight loss and then to find out later he was actually trying to make a buck by selling you videos he made about how he lost weight & tips for you to help you lose…

Onions! Normally I love onions but for some reason they don't set well with me on pizza. Also pineapple & anchovies are a no-no for me.

Our dollar stores also have fresh bread for a dollar, I like Nature's Own whole wheat, just have to ask what day the bread truck comes because they just come once a week & it goes fast. Also I shop at Aldi's for the best prices on fresh fruits & vegetables.

My latest favorite snack is to cut up 1/2 banana & 4 strawberries & mix 2 T of lite cool whip in. Great for the sweet craving

You have to exercise to how you feel. When you feel good & not much pain try to do more but when your body is hurting it is very difficult to move through the pain & I feel it's better to rest. The housework is not that important & it will wait, just do what is most important like doing dishes & laundry, and then you can…

Evelynn, you could not float & tread water easily because you don't have any fat! I sank when I was skinny like you. Hope no one will go to the deep end & jump in just cause I mentioned this. You could be like the muscular guy who sank to the bottom. Seltzermint, that would be so cool if I can still float upright when I…

My diary is open & I try to stay under 1270 but do go over occasionally. My breakfast is usually eggs & bacon, sausage or ham OR instant oatmeal & fruit. For lunch I have meat with veggie or salad & fruit and Dinner is meat, veggie & fruit or instant pudding or jello. I try to limit bread, pasta & rice & flour products but…

How about ordering the hamburger but don't eat the bun OR eat half the hamburger with the bun & eat the other half of the hamburger without the bun...You will be satisfying your cravings but yet cut out about 100 calories by not eating all of the bun, Whenever I go to a fast food place I try to go to one which have side…

Hi! I restarted on MFP at the end of Feb., 2014 at 297 lbs. and now am 280. I am trying to lose mostly by tracking my food & reducing portions. Now that I have lost 17 lbs. I am gradually adding in some walking. We can do this without exercise but it is slow going but the more weight we lose more likely we will be able to…

Always had that problem of drinking enough water but lately I have found that if I drink water which is room temperature instead of with ice it seems to go down easier & I can drink more. Also I took a measuring cup to see how much water my glass holds & found out that my glass held 2 cups of water instead of 1 so it's…

Thanks for the info about KT tape! I've not been able to find a knee brace that fits properly so this could be very helpful to get moving again, at least to be able to walk more.
