Jane -- He gave me all kind of supporting information but the plan is simple...cut out animal products including fish, eggs, dairy, eliminate extra fats & sodium, processed foods. Nothing is off limits if it is a fruit, vegetable, whole grain or legume. He also recommended nuts but I am not to go crazy on it. He also said…

I think this thread is interesting. As for me... 5'6" 54 yrs old CW: 147 GW: 135 I am trying to eat around 1500 calories when I workout and 1200 calories when I don't. BUT...I am at a stubborn plateau right now so I am not sure if I should eat more or less?!? When training, I exercise between 300-500 calories daily (4-5x…

I don't think you need to be concerned. I have taken Lexapro for years and it never caused me weight gain. In fact, I am able to lose weight nicely even on it. I think getting your anxiety under control is important. I believe that the hormone cortisol that is released when you're anxious will actually prevent you from…

I also want to comment on your calorie goals. I struggled with this concept for a long time. I thought if you want to lose, you had to really restrict calories. Like you, I have less than 20 lbs to lose and wanted to lose 2 lbs per week. I saw a nutritionist last year and she told me 1200 calories was too low...I didn't…

I think for me it was the HCG diet. I ate about 500 calories per day and it said not to exercise. I lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks but who wouldn't. I think it was the most unhealthy thing I ever did to my body. I will never starve myself again, lesson learned.

My trainer recommended NOW Products Plant Protein Complex which I did go ahead and buy. He said I should drink it within 30-40 minutes of a workout. I got it in creamy vanilla and I absolutely love it. I mix one scoop with 1 C almond milk, 1 Tbsp almond butter, fruit (banana is my fav) and crushed ice then blend it in a…

Congrats! You rock!

I'd love to know what you eat because I am trying to get my sodium lower but it seems that sodium is in everything!

Ezekial breads are really good.

I have found that the Olive Garden Light Italian is really good and very low in calories and fat. I often only need one tablespoon for my salads which further cuts down on calories!

I just started carb cycling yesterday, bought the Kindle version of the Chris Powell book. I have nothing to share yet except that day two isn't so bad (high carb day) but I would be interested in being your carb cycling buddy.

I am very interested in your plight because I am in about the same boat. I try to hover around 1200 calories and exercise most days of the week. I have lost but I am very confused as to the right answer when it comes to minimum calories and the ratio of protein/carbs/fat. Lately I have been going over my 1200 calorie mark…

I am actually doing three forms of exercise and loving it. For cardio, I am either swimming, fast walking or doing elliptical most days of the week. I am going to the gym and doing lifting three days a week. And I recently added yoga for one hour per week for flexibilty. The only problem I have is finding the right workout…

I love these tips plus your other comments. If you are a daily measure kind of person, then be sure to do a 10 day running average on your weight. While you may see plateaus and fluctuations, you will be able to see a trend much more effectively. I'm not sure anybody would describe one day without weight loss as a plateau.…

Absolutely, I think they need a "Like" button too!

I also weigh in daily although I feel I shouldn't. I consider my weekly official weigh in on Tuesday's. I also like to weigh in everyday to see if I can detect patterns in what I eat and the subsequent gain/loss. Even though I don't have it all figured out...water and sodium seem to make a difference in daily fluctuations.

Me too! I already started and I'm on Day 3 but I will start over!

I'm not sure if this will do everything you are looking for by I like by Polar HRM. There are many styles of watches but what I especially like is the bluetooth chest strap that connects to your mobile device through an app called Polar Beat and it will tell you the distance, heart rate, calories burned etc of any activity…

I would like to know as well. I wish these things measured heart rate as well as could be used underwater to records calories expended swimming. I am looking for an all-in-one solution. LOL

I find that after a weekend of "splurging", I show a small weight gain on the 2nd day after. For example, I went away for the weekend and the weight didn't register until Tuesday morning. I went back on plan first thing Monday morning and already today (Wednesday) the extra weight came off. I found from logging all of my…

Tigerbell -- Your dilemma is not unique in that I had the same questions myself! I targeted 2 lbs per week (started MFP again 3 weeks ago) so that I could shed 15-20 lbs by the holidays and that goal had me at 1200 calories. Since I wasn't sure of what I was doing, I limited my calorie intake last week to below 1000…

Serena -- I am going to a dietician tomorrow to discuss this same topic. I will let you know what she says. I am also confused about daily caloric intake as well as how much exercise to do. Everyone says 1200 is the lower limit. I don't seem to lose on that. So my meeting should be very enlightening. I will report back if…

Oops...meant to say "the problem is".
