  • Hi All, I did introduce myself on another post. Sandra, London, UK, 46 yrs young (although my knees feel 146). Previously done marathons and good distances, last few years lazy, gained weight. I've lost 24lbs since January 4, got back up to 4 miles, aim to be doing 10K by the end of the month. Generally run along the River…
  • Hi, I'm Sandra, 46, live in London, UK. Completed a 4 miler this morning, after following an app Couch25K since January. I've done marathons in the past (1995, 96 and 2007) but in the last couple of years have been lazy and not watching my food or alcohol intake. With the help of MyFitnessPal, my Jawbone Up3 fitness band…
  • I would suggest you dont' fret too much about your body fat or weight currently - you sound like you've done amazingly well and you are at Uni, doing exams which is far more important. Focus on eating healthy and maintaining how you feel and look. Getting caught up in % will play with your mind too much.
  • I've just bought a pair of Coulax 2.0 for about £24 and they are excellent, I've been out running and everything with them quite comfortably. They have a different earpiece to that one, which I can't wear as I have small ears and wear hearing aids too!
  • I've been tracking for 40 days also and have lost 17lbs - I was 237 and am 5 6. I've been doing my 10,000 steps every day with the aid of a fitness band which has really motivated me and I've got back up to 5km running with an app on my phone. I have been sticking to 1200/1300 each day and not felt hungry and that is…
  • Well done for starting out, my first question is why are you trying to stay under your calorie goals. You should be sticking to the calories that MFP has set you there or thereabouts for the amount of weight you would like to lose, safely, weekly. If you cut back too much your body will basically rebel and you may not in…
  • My experience of VLCs is that the weight doesn't stay off and it's expensive. You can't live a "normal" life, your hair falls out and it doesn't teach you a healthy lifestyle. Can I also add that from your profile picture you don't look like you really need to be following a VLCD. I've lost 22lbs in 10 weeks doing MFP 1200…
  • I think MMR grossly over-estimtaes calories. MMR tells me I burn about 700 for a half hour run (at 6mph pace). I think MFP is more realistic, although again I still think it overestimates. It puts an 18 hole round of golf at 800 calories, I'd say more like 200 extra burned.
  • This is exactly the reason I stopped Weight Watchers... all food contains calories and they all add up...
  • I've STS this week, despite four runs last week (average 3.5 miles). I've not eaten many exercise calories and wonder what to do this week - I did lose 4.5lbs last week. I think I'll stick to what I've been doing and see what happens next week, if I don't have a decent loss then I may start eating a little more on my run…
  • I'm getting back into running after a short lay off and weight gain(!) - I've trained for and run a few marathons and remember the first time I ran on a treadmill (quite a few years ago), I went from a few minutes to a marathon within a year. I've now been running for nearly 20 years (wow - how many miles have I covered).…
  • Hi there - well done for coming back... something has to click with you and then you know you will stick with it. I've yo-yo'd for a while and then after Xmas decided enough was enough, so I've lost 17lbs since 2 January - I have not been drinking alcohol also, which is a big give up for me. My mini-goal is 30 March when…
  • A great tip for storage is to use old Dolmio/Ragu or similar sized (sauce) jars. If you put a spoon and some boiling water in each once your soup is blitzed and still boiling hot. Pour the water out of each jar, then fill with the hot soup, immediately put the lid on - this effectively heat seals the soup into the jar,…
  • Thanks guys - good to hear different experiences of WWs - we all, ultimately, have to do what is working for us and if we learn something, then that's great.
  • The soup above, also works with butternut squash apple & cinammon (instead of carrots and cumin) Celeriac & Cauliflower (can add some cumin also) As above substituting the BNS and carrots with Celeriac & Cauliflower.
  • Butternut squash & carrot (with a hint of curry) 1 large butternut squash (I don't peel but you can) 4 or 5 good sized carrots 3 vegetable stock cubes in 1.5 litre of water Cumin spice - 2 tbsp 1 tbs of lazy garlic 1 tbs of lazy chilli Salt & pepper to taste. All boiled up for about 40 minutes or until veg is soft, then…
  • Yummy Tomato 2/3 red (or white) onions softened in oil/garlic/chilli 1 tblsp of lazy garlic or similar 1 tblsp of lazy chilli or similar 1 tblsp of chilli infused olive oil or normal olive oil 4 cans of chopped tomatoes 1 (or 1.5 cans) of tomato puree 2 vegetable stock cubes diluted in litre of water Large jar of roasted…
