  • For me, it's not about motivation. It's about commitment. I am committed. I tell everyone I can that I am losing weight and why I am doing it. If I do that, I will stick to it so that I don't make a liar out of myself. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Weight Loss Tools
  • My gym has a day care for 50 cents and hour per child. I've got three foster sons.... I need a break. $1.50 an hour babysitting for three kids? Yes, please!!!!! • Appreciate the body you have. Work toward improving it by continuing to "down size". Even at a healthy body fat percentage, my calves are huge. I just learned to be okay with my body as long as it is healthy. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Nutrition Facts For Foods
  • Your goal weight: 160 Why you want to get to your goal: Because it's the right thing to do. Being overweight affects me and my family in many aspects and very negative ways. Vanity aside, I want to get to my goal simply because it is the right thing to do. Your favorite food: Anything high in carbs! and Cheese! How you…
  • I put notes on a bunch of cars, " Sorry, I bumped your car with mine. Call me for my insurance information. 555-5555" Had my friend's name and number on it. I also broke into my friend's car and took out all the seats.
  • If you are too late to join a challenge, you can always "prorate" the challenge and do it anyways. I have a list of fitness goals in my profile. Every time I run or swim or use the rowing machine, I try to beat or match my best time. I try to challenge myself with one thing (sometimes it's really simple) every day. Created…
  • I'm not a runner. I actually hate it. But I have a goal: to run a mile faster than I have in my whole life. In the last 2.5 months, I've run one mile three times. The first time was 13:37. Second time was 13:01. 4 weeks later (today), my time was 11:07. I couldn't believe it. Totally crushed it! I still have a long way to…
  • I like it all ways. I like to mix it with yogurt and a banana, with pepper, tomatoes, avacado and hot sauce, in jello fruit salad, on green salad, as dip with kettle cooked salt and vinegar potato chips, plain, with pineapple...and on...and on....Mmmmm. I'm going to go have some cottage cheese for breakfast! Created by…
  • taco salad--no sour cream. enchiladas with no cheese. a few tacos (the street taco variety is going to be better because the tortilla isn't fried and if they're made right there's no cheese).
  • Everyone should chill out. We can't protect everyone who has ever had a challenging issue from everything. Some people have lost loved ones. should we never post about our families? Some people are stalled in their weight loss for whatever reason. Maybe we should stop posting our success stories so we don't offend anyone!…
  • I am looking into getting a light box. What kind do you have? I'm originally from Sunny Southern California. Now I live in Utah. Ugh. I hate snow! It has been pretty bad in years past, but it has been improving over the last two years as I've figured out what works for me. Being active is key for me. I keep busy doing as…
  • I'm not a runner, but I have a lot of foot problems. I tried on probably 30 pairs of tennis shoes before deciding on Nike Flex Run shoes. They are like heaven for my feet! And I HATE shoes. I've had them for three months. They still feel brand new. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter

  • does your screen name includes your partner's name, your kid's name, or any mention of being a parent? because if it does, this thread says THAT is your problem! Something to think about. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1117529-my-unscientific-rant-about-why-you-can-t-lose-weight
  • Squats and leg raises. The key to a good squat is what you stand up to squeeze EVERYTHING you have. My inner thighs ang butt are so SORE the next day!
  • Did you just start? While I have not had chemotherapy, my husband has. He said the first few weeks were fine. Then He couldn't eat. He jokes that the best weight loss program is chemotherapy. My advice would be to focus on getting well. You will have time to figure out the rest when you are back on your a-game.
  • Focus less on the scale and more on fitness goals. When you feel your body getting better, the scale matters less. I have 100+ fitness goals in my profile that I cross off all the time. 47 goals passed. 27 lbs gone. Honestly, I get more excited about the goals. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • I have no idea what a macro is. Frankly, I don't really care. What I am doing is working for me, and that's what matters. If I come to a point where what I am doing is not working anymore, I may take some time to learn about it. Until then, I will just keep going. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • I don't focus on my daily calories. If I am under one day, I eat it another. The weekly average means more to me than the daily. I generally save up a little here and there for PIZZA! (or somethings else delicious and high in calories!) Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • Great tip! I do this sometimes. I also have an apple for breakfast a little closer to lunch if I know I'm having a particularly calorie heavy dinner or have a crazy busy day where it is more likely I will grab pizza for the kids.

  • Sometimes what we WANT to do under high amounts of stress is not what is GOOD for us. I can totally relate to being under ridiculous amounts of stress. The last week has been, well, for lack of a better description, utter hell. I feel the same way you do. I just want to lay around and do absolutely nothing. While it feels…
  • I had a similar foot injury earlier this summer. My doctor recommended and ice bath every 3-4 hours. I used a bucket to soak my foot for 12 minutes. It was torture. But I started to feel a difference almost immediately! I threw away all my shoes and bought several pairs of some really great arch supporting shoes. I hate…
  • 1. I love Richard Simmons....and Phil Collins 2. I watch bad reality TV. And I like it. 3. I yell expletives at my husband in my sleep....frequently. 4. I have many books on my bookshelf that I intended to read, but never did. 5. I've read Pride and Prejudice probably 20 times. Seen just about every movie. My favorite was…
  • Running. Running. AND.....running.
  • I started at 272. It was difficult to have good form. I mostly did the back stroke and breast stroke because they were easier. It's still difficult for me to swim freestyle for very long at one time, but I can feel my form improving every day I swim. I went from struggling to get 25 yds to being able to do almost 100…
  • .3 lbs is really not a big deal. Our bodies are intricate machines. We go a little up. We go a little down. Don't stress over .3 lbs.
  • Because my family doctor, dietitian, and personal trainer all told me I SHOULD NOT eat back my calories when I asked them directly. 1. Eating back your calories can create an unhealthy relationship with food and exercise. 2. Why do the work to create a deficit if you're going to eat the deficit back? 3. It's more important…
  • A calorie is not a calorie. But 150 calories of brownie is way better than 150 calories of almonds!
  • Moderation. Moderation Moderation. I had a brownie for breakfast yesterday. I don't feel guilty about it. But I did stay within my calorie limits. And it was only one regular-sized brownie...not a giant one the size of my face! Mindset it really key to eating in moderation. I don't have an "I can't eat that" list. I do,…
  • I don't believe in cheat days. For one thing, the connotation is very negative. I go the by 90-10 rule. I eat within my calorie limits 90% of my meals. If I go over in one meal out of every ten, I tend to not worry too much about it because generally my exercise makes up for the overage. I had a brownie today. I don't feel…
