  • I have three bulging discs in my neck. I find that low impact activities such as walking, cycling or elliptical work well, as long as I don't overdo it. I have yet to find a weight routine that doesn't put strain on my neck. I can do lower body weight machines, but I can't do anything where I have to hold weights in my…
  • B.A. in Psychology M.A. in Counseling Psychology M.A. in Health Promotion and Human Performance. PhD in Health Promotion and Health Education (will finish in 2013...I hope)
  • I am a PhD student and have been working on my secondary comps and getting ready to advance to candidacy. I have been at it for a while, since I also have a 6 year old and had a baby halfway through my program. I also had gallbladder surgery last year, so that also slowed me down. I am currently on academic leave due to a…
  • If you are having thoughts of suicide, you must get help immediately. Weight loss surgery will not fix what is going on in your mind. As someone who has suffered with depression for a long time, I know that it can make every obstacle seem enormous and life seem impossible to manage. You can lose weight without surgery, but…
  • I was on Lexapro for 5 years and could not lose an ounce on it. I switched to Viibryd and have been able to lose. Every person's body chemistry is different, so you really need to find what works for you. I would express your concerns to your doctor and discuss options for medication. Also, please ignore the advice to stop…
  • I am 6 feet tall. Pros: I like having really long legs and never have to worry about certain styles making me look short. I can command a room when I need to. I can carry a lot of extra weight without looking "fat." Cons: I can't wear short dresses without showing a little too much of my business. I don't feel very dainty…
  • I was on Lexapro for 5 years. I gained weight for other reasons, but no matter what I did I could not lose the weight I had gained. I was following a website like this one and I exercised 5-6 times a week. I finally switched antidepressants and lost weight doing the same things I was doing before. My doctor told me that…
  • Tessa or Daisy?
  • I am getting my PhD in Health Promotion and Health Education. I am currently ABD (all but dissertation).
  • I think everyone struggles with this to some degree. I have days where I just don't feel like doing it anymore. I think it is especially easy to go off track after you reach a milestone. Have you set a new goal for yourself? Maybe, if you had something new to strive for that would help you get back on track.
  • Helping troubled adolescents, health education, and my amazing kids!
  • We went through secondary infertility as well, although it did not have to do with my weight (I gained most of my weight doing fertility treatments). We had no problem with our first, but conceiving our second we had to go through a lot. It was hard, because everyone acts like if you already have a child it doesn't hurt as…
  • I love my fitbit. It is really motivating and you can attach it where nobody will see it. The customer service is awesome. I had one malfunction and they sent me a new one ASAP. I think it is totally worth it!
  • I think a lot depends on your personality. I am a better mom when I have time away from my kids. Right now, I am working on my PhD and being a mommy. I was doing both and working until I had my 16 month old. I stayed home with my son (who is now in Kindergarten) for a year and I was miserable. My husband works, but has a…
  • That is really an amazing difference in 30 days. You have great curves and they will only get better!
  • I wouldn't blame the truvia. It could be just normal body fluctuations. My weight fluctuates by as much as three pounds a day.
  • Is it really that big of a surprise that creepers would gravitate to a site where people regularly post pics of themselves in underwear?
  • Not quite the same thing, but I saw a group of ladies come in, do about 45 minutes of easy cardio and leave. About twenty minutes later when I left, the same group of ladies was sitting in their car in the parking lot eating burgers and fries from McDonald's. Hmmm...
  • I always have my headphones on, even if my Ipod isn't on. I prefer to be left alone and focus on the task at hand.
  • We are pretty darn close! Feel free to add me! 6'0 SW- 239 CW- 222 GW- 190
  • This is exactly right. You will find people on here that say that it matters what time of day you work out, because one time burns more fat. That is a myth. Work out when it is best for you and when you will be most consistent. I am not a morning person, so I have never been able to stick to working out in the morning.
  • I also can relate to this topic. When I lost a lot of weight and got really strong ten years ago it was part of overcoming what had happened to me. For me, nothing gave me a sense of power and control of my life than training my body and becoming confident in what I can do with it. That is part of the reason I want to get…
  • I give not a crap. I don't care what people looking at my butt think and I am too busy working out to look at anyone else's butt.
  • I think she is beautiful and talented. She is overweight, but what business is it of his. Why go out of your way to insult someone else?It is not like Adele is not aware she is overweight. I would love to have a face and a voice like hers.
  • So very sad, This is proof of how devastating addiction can be. My heart goes out to her family and anyone out there struggling with addiction.
  • Very sweet! What a great motivation. My kids (5 and 16 months) are my motivation as well. Trust me, you will need the energy to keep up with that little one. It sounds like you are off to a great start!
  • Your post is just heartbreaking. I can't imagine what it is like to lose a child. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
  • The first thing is to forgive yourself and start new tomorrow. Do you have a counselor that you have seen for eating disorder issues or could they refer you to one? Or maybe a support group of some sort (either online or in person)? If not, maybe seekng help and accountability from a truster friend or relative is a good…
  • We sometimes buy boneless, skinless chicken thighs. They are really good and not too high in calories. I wonder if you did half breast and half thighs if he would be more likely to eat it.
  • You should be able to continue exercising at your current level with some modification. You and your OB should come up with a plan. Oh, and congratulations!!
