  • I set my goals conservative for this month. 40 miles. So far I have walked 5 miles. Actually had a training session today. My trainer makes me walk at least one mile each session, plus I walk back and forth to my session (his gym is only 1/2 mile away.) so that is two miles. Plus I have been walking the dog between rain…
  • I love your second ticker. How did you make it? I am a technologically challenged person.
  • I am new to this thread and anxious to become part of it. However, since I have never done it before, am unsure where to set my first goal. Do you have any recommendations for someone like me?
  • Strength training mixed with cardio is the way to go. Testosterone is what makes me bulk up. That is the reason woman aren't normally affected the same way as men. However, it is important not to be surprised if at first the scales don't move or go up a little. Muscle is denser than fat and I was really depressed until my…
  • I sometimes take hummus to dip my veggies in. Even if I'm not a fan of it plain, there are many different flavors that I love. I also have a new favorite from Trader Joe's that is easy to make an tastes great. Although it calls for many of the Trader Joe's brand ingredients, you can use any other brand you like. 3 cups…
  • I love it plain, but also eat it with a pineapple ring on top. I always add pepper to it.
  • I heartily agree that motivation comes from within. No matter what I tried, nothing worked until my doctor informed me that my left knee has no cartilege left in it and I will need knee replacement sometime in the future. How soon is directly up to me. If I lose weight and continue my exercise routine, this knee will last…
  • I do the same type of cardio, but also work with a trainer on strength training. We change exercises each session to keep things fresh. My trainer and physician both tell me tha the more muscle you build the more calories you burn and I'm all for that,.
  • I try to find out what eatng establishment we are visiting and decide ahead of time what I will have. Then I record the meal and calories (on my i-phone). That way I avoid worrying about it and feel motivated not to eat more than I recorded. For me calorie counting and visually seeing what I am putting in my mouth is the…
  • My weakness is bread and pasta dishes (favorite Fetuccini Alfredo). I am not good at portion control. I try to avoid eating in Italian restaraunts at all costs and always ask the waiters not to bring bread to our table, or to only bring enough for my husband.
  • Hello. I have had a weight problem for years. It has impacted my life in many ways. I have diabetes, hypertension and elevated cholesterol. Last year I tore the meniscus in my left knee and had orthroscopic surgery. It worked well until I aggravated the condition last week while on vacation. My birthday is Thursday and my…
  • I m new here, but hope sharing my thoughts with all of you will help me get this emotional eating under control. I too eat when I am stressed, happy, sad, bored, etc. I often finish one meal and begin to think about what I will eat at the next one. When at dinner with friends, I tend to keep my portions down and even leave…
