No pics, but have had success followed by regain of 10lbs after I lost my job. :-( I'm 5'9" and am at 172. My lowest weight was 160 and I was SO happy. I had an initial goal of 150, but would be fine w/ maintaining btw 160 -165; depending on the time of the month. Now that spring is officially here I'm considering the C25K…

You CAN do this! You WILL do this! It's up to YOU. BTW, I'm 5'9" and have the same goal. I don't share my goals w/ anyone other than on this forum because I'm not interested in the opinions of others about whether I can succeed. This is a personal and private journey for me. People will comment along the way, but I keep…

Thrift stores are my friend - I've gotten rid of tons of clothes in the past year and replaced things w/ some basics from thrift stores. I know this isn't for everyone - some people thing it's gross to shop at a second hand clothing sore, but it's economical and recycling is good....

I'm working on calling up that inner Zen feeling so I can get back on track. My family motivates me w/out saying a word - just because I want to be active and have fun w/ all of them.

NEW DAY! Funny, this is exactly the kind of thing I tell my kids and friends when they're down. I'm getting there w/ all the help from the wonderful folks on MFP!
-
Initially MFP, w/ the standard settings, suggested 1340 calories. I'm 5'9" and began at ~185 lbs. After I lost some weight MFP lowered the suggested calories to ~1240 - this left me hungry and cranky. I combed through the postings and did a calculation for TDEE(??) and increased my calories to 1400, just a little higher…

I've heard others say that they avoid weighing in that week, but weighing keeps me motivated; even if it's discouraging sometimes. I've been hoping that most of the gain is 'water weight', but I don't know if that's some kind of myth that my mom passed down to me.
-
Yup, I don't know why I thought I'd gotten over emotional eating. I also don't have the satiation trigger that tells me when I'm full - or it seems to turn off sometimes. Now that the weather has gotten better I hope to get outside more and enjoy exercising. I need to make myself exercise, it's not 'fun' for me.
-
That's a great strategy! I have to try this.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I guess 5lbs isn't terrible, but disappointing. You're right, one day at a time; 'can't go back and fix things. No head aches, just very tired. I think my hormones are really messing w/ me; it's like riding a roller coaster. I was excited to be at my lowest weight for my dr appointment -…

I'm 5'9" w/ a CW of 163 and goal of 145-150 - not sure what that will look like. People are calling my 'skinny' now, but I can see & feel the weight on my hips & thighs. I think age and having a child changed how weight is distributed on me - now a C instead of a B cup and I'll ALWAYS have the stomach pooch. When I was…

I've been stuck for more than 4 months and have just started the TDEE -20% formula. I'm hoping to kick start a slow, but steady weight loss. Also hoping to start the C25K this spring and do some lifting. Thanks to all of you for posting your encouraging stories about TDEE -20;

How long will it take for my metabolism to right itself after eating too little? I've been faithfully following the MFP calorie recommendation since Aug 2012 and have lost ~15lbs since then. I plateaued and was looking at posts to understand whether my intake was on target @ 1340, I'm 5'9" and have a low activity level.…

You're all very inspiring! I have been at a plateau for a while and am looking at how to get things moving again. I've lost 25lbs since I started changing my lifestyle. Yes, I have a goal in mind, but haven't set a timeline. Right now I'm hoping to land a new job soon and am just soaking up the nsv's of fitting into…

I find that I can wear more fitted clothes now - a big change for me. I'm not trying to cover up my butt and middle any more. I can wear a pair of boots and a sweater dress! I still have self confidence issues, but now I don't want to wear my 'fat clothes' I want to show off a little. Some people have said, 'Where's the…

I'm 5'9" and was that height when I was 13...then I stopped growing and the boys started growing! For about 2 years I was 'very tall' and there were a bunch of us in this boat. I'm 49 now and see many more tall girls than when I was growing up. Thirteen was the hardest age for me. I'm the shortest one in my family, but…

^^This! My prize is usually some new clothes since I keep shrinking out of my current clothes.

You are amazing! Keep going you're already a success and there's only more happiness in your future. Do you realize how much you have already accomplished? To survive all the stress and you still lost weight and will graduate from college. I hope your family comes around so that you can have peace w/ them. Finding a…

Congratulations on your success! My initial goal was 5lbs higher than my current goal - it seems to be a moving target. I'd like to lose that last 10lbs and be a little lighter than I was when I got married. That said, I have a 'secret' goal of getting to the weight I was in high school, about 10 more lbs; that's probably…

Wonderful! Now you can sashay to your event in style and not have to shop.

Congratulations! What a wonderful posting. This really resonates with me.

I'm 5'9", CW 160, GW 150. I agree that you need to find a weight that is comfortable for you and that you can maintain; you are the best judge of this.

I'm 5'9" and today I mark 25lbs lost (15 since joining MFP)- now weighing in at 161. My goal is 140-145, but I'm taking each day as it comes. Once in a while I plateau and have to change things up w/ my food to get started again (mostly increasing protein a little so I don't feel so hungry). I'm so excited because fit in…

You are awesome! Congratulations on your weight loss and for getting a dog.
-
Do your best to log the food and move on. If you get more exercise to off-set things for this that will help. Its good to take a forward looking approach - you can't take back what you've done, but you CAN change what you do in the future and getting out and exercising will help emotionally as well; put your rain coat on…

THe doctor was just plain wrong - PLEASE find a doctor that will listen to you. Don't give up. I have a friend who is overweight and had all kinds of symptoms, but no dr would listen. Finally she found one that would and did the proper tests and found that she had a very serious problem. They didn't listen because she was…
