I have never been comfortable jumping so I think you are awesome at any age. Cheers, h.

Sorry, I have no experience but you may find this thread enlightening. Unfortunately, or maybe just an indication of success, @VUA21 no longer posts on MFP. Cheers, h. ⚠️ WARNING IT IS GRAPHIC ⚠️ https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10687999/tummy-surgery-after-180-pound-weight-loss-warning-some-graphic-pics/p1

@grisiton, bikecheryl hasn’t logged on to MFP since November 2020 so you will not get an update. Hopefully someone with brace experience will chime in. Cheers, h.

So happy to see you posting your trips again. I’ve missed them. Wonderful PNW scenery as always. Also, cos I sometimes worry about you, glad your absence has been more computer related, not, hopefully, Covid related. Cheers, h.

I was hoping as my answer would have been a Singapore Sling in Raffles, Singapore where they were invented. (The question being most memorable drink) As for the old fashioned (not the drink). I do sweep and mop my floors throughout the house and hang my washing out to dry. (I have a dryer that is used in wet weather) Hand…

Oh gosh, much love being sent your way. I lost my mum last year to cancer. I live in Canada my mum is, whoops, did live in Scotland. It was very hard and very difficult time. I did manage to get to Scotland, but had to quarantine, and only managed to spend the last 2 weeks with her. What I found helped me during the 3…

Hey @PaulaWallaDingDong, nice to see you back. Cheers, h.

Here is my vaccine card, a photo on my phone, a hard copy can be mailed out if one doesn’t have a smart phone. The old card issued with the vaccine is being phased out over the next month. My name is in the headset too. https://www2.gov.bc.ca/StaticWebResources/static/gov3/html/images/full_with_sample_text.png This is the…

Fruit, it’s nutritious. As long as it fits in my calories and nutritional goals I am not concerned about the sugar. I have no health problems so not worried about my sugar/carb intake form that view either. Cheers, h.

I started exercising for the first time in my early 50’s and am in my late 60’s now. I have never had a great liking for exercise so have never done the amount that you do. I’m happy with a 1hr of movement a day 5x a week as a minimum. Usually that is weights x 3, I started with a barbell at your age. My progress is slower…

Give yourself a goal. I am not keen on exercise, to put it mildly, but since 2008 I have done an hour of something six days a week. Now I know all the good long healthy life etc etc stuff, but I find that is thinking too far into the future, and a little ephemeral, so I give myself short term goals, generally a year. Most…

And I’ve been here long enough that there used to be FUPA questions every week followed by word definition (what area is FUPA) arguments on said thread that went on for pages. Then of course the thread got closed. Aaah, the good old days, :D Cheers, h.

You may find this recent thread helpful. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10841089/forward-head-posture#latest @ninerbuff also did an interesting post on the stomach vacuum that you may find useful. (Niner, could you please link it, on my phone and can’t get to it sorry found it) Personally, (as well as the…

A couple of things that I can speak of. The main one is having too great a deficit. Just because you can safely lose weight on a high deficit doesn’t mean it is the right deficit for you. There comes a point, for some, that the deficit affects one’s daily activities. If you are finding it hard to do what are your normal…

OK here is the thread I wanted. Took me a while to find it then I had to re read it, plus links, never forget the links. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10290083/alli-xenical-does-it-work-please-only-answer-if-you-have-actually-taken-it/p1 Have fun. Cheers, h.

I think this may help with your decision. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1051812/alli-diet-pills Cheers, h. (ETA I’m sniggering already. It’s been a while since this thread surfaced)

As always @ninerbuff a good reminder of the basics. Thank you. Oddly, since childhood, I have been admired/teased about my posture. I’m quite upright and have never figured out how to slouch- much to my SO’s consternation. Car seat for me- upright; him, raked as far as it will go. Now I am older and watching my MIL’s…

Welcome to MFP. As this is your first post I am wondering where your questions come from and what you are looking for. (guidance, or a new trainer looking at how to build a clientele) Personally I have never used a trainer, nor am I one. When I first started exercising I used a variety of classes. That was sufficient for…

I used a previous cal count website then MFP. A basic scale, food and weight scale, and that is it. I’ve maintained over 10yr increased my cardio and strength over time, and have no health worries (doc would tell me if I had). My lacsidasical attitude does not fit all but I’m not a number cruncher and use no apps except…

Gave a look at Hasfit. It is where I started. The simple beginners programme is great. It is 3 sets, I started with one set and worked on being able to do the moves and progressed from there. (Yes, some things I had to start very gradually and build to being able to complete the move) Once I had that programme conquered I…

Gin and tonic. 3 cals and 0 alcahol. OK, G&T is one of my favourite drinks, especially in the summer. However, if I had drunk full octane during lockdown I would have been an overweight dipsomaniac (jk). My 3 cal alternative is a refreshing alternative when working in the garden. Cheers, h.

I’m at 12 years since weight loss, 10+ Maintaining with MFP,and to be honest I wouldn’t be as successful if I hadn’t accounted for my calorie burn due to exercise. If I can’t exercise, I need to know my calorie burn. If I increase my exercise, I need to know my calorie burn. If I change my exercise routine, I need to know…

How long have you been having whey protein 3x a day? And, does the use of the protein drinks coincide with the bloating? I ask because these quite often use a sugar free sweetener and these can cause the symptoms you describe. No specific sweetener, different people react differently to different sweeteners. Try a few days…

This is a bit of an out of a limb one but I’m putting it out there as you are new to lifting and it happened when you were deadlifting. As well as feeling nauseous did you have cold sweats and were light headed? If so it could have been Vasovagal Syncope. This just means your breathing was off causing your blood pressure…

I stopped drinking pop, accidentally, 10-12 years ago after a trip to Europe. It was hot, and a lot of walking and hiking was involved, pop just wasn’t good once sticky, sweet, and warm so I started ordering a couple of bottles of ‘agua minerali con gas’ fizzy water. By the time I got home pop was out; fizzy water was in.…

Doing a PF circuit is fine, not optimal but like you say you prefer cardio. What I would suggest if breaking those 25 reps down into sets using a weight that is challenging but you could do one or 2 more. Maybe 3 sets of 8, or 5 sets of 5, or any permutation that works for you. Before you start on your ‘working sets’ do a…

I follow my programme which has ‘warm up’ sets inc. When I first started and the weight was easier I thought it a waste, did it anyway. After a few weeks of the weight progressing I really appreciated the warm up sets. I had the same feeling about rest periods. To start with too long, now I sometimes have to extend them.…

@Deedoyle9721 yes! I have been getting that unavailable screen for the past 2 days. I put it down to either my old iPhone’s capabilities or being in Canada. Glad it isn't only me but, at the same time, hope it doesn’t carry on. Though I don’t post to this thread you guys have kept me moving through the pandemic. Thanks.…

You may want to look at what your maintenance calories are at now. (170lbs?). That will give you an idea of what your deficit is at your current intake and you can adjust your loss expectations accordingly. Agree patience is needed. Agree that a diet break may be beneficial. (Good reasons given above) Agree that cals…

Knowing what machine would help, how you plan to use it, your goals, and programme. Personally as a fit-ish 5’1 100lbs woman, who lifts recreationally, I would time that out on lower body, and not get years of use upper body. YMMV. Cheers, h. (Speaking as someone whose preference is the barbell, but versatile when needs…
