  • Ive been a shift worker for 25 years now, doing 12hr shifts 2x day/night rota. I find the best way to manage my eating has been to do the same as ShorelyReady and log my cals from midnight to midnight (I am fairly lucky in that I have no problems sleeping thru the day and get a good 8 hours whether I am on days or nights).…
  • Hi everyone, I too am restarting this year, mostly owing to the fact that come March I'll be closer to 50 than 40 and need to be reasonably fit to do my job...or at least be able to climb stairs! My name is Heather, I'm 5'3" and I have 100lb to lose. Having tried (and failed at) many diets, I have finally decided that…
  • I'm at Stockton-on-Tees in the North East. Lost 10lb so far but still have 60 or so to go...heres hoping!

Lost 10lb so far but still have 60 or so to go...heres hoping! I'm also doing intermittent fasting, but doing two days a week rather than specific times a day (Sunday and Wednesday fast until 5pm then have 500cals max for those days). I also bought a FitBit, as I have days…
  • It could just be water retention - us girlies do tend to suffer from it. I've found my weight can vary by as much as 6lb over the course of a few days. Good luck and don't despair...its a long road we travel!
  • Yep, I'm in :)
  • Did my day 1 today...oohhh, but my abs are aching!!! And I don't think I'll be lifting anything heavier that my cup of tea tonight! Still...if it was easy I'd have had the body of a goddess years ago. Bring it on!
  • Many thanks for all the advice guys. I'm going to have a go at the fitness test and take it from there...here goes nothing!
  • LOL, I just hope I finish my wings before I hit the tarmac

  • Hi, My name is Heather, a british wife and mother of three. I was diagnosed 2 years ago at 42 with serum-negative RA and was started on Methotrexate and Folic Acid (tried steroids but gained a load of weight). Up until recently it has worked really well, but just started a flare in the last week. I'm hoping to lose about…

  • I don't at present, but wouldn't mind giving it a go sometime. Since starting to try and lose weight I have pretty much given up eating bread anyway, but I do have Cornflakes for breakfast and rice/pasta/cous-cous or some other derivitive for dinner. If you're thinking of trying it out, let me know how it goes...I might…
  • Yep, me too! I find that when I'm picking up nights for the first shift is the hardest. I've started only having breakfast on theat morning then nothing until about 8pm, but I feel really crappy for the first few hours of the shift. But I know if I didn't do it this way there would be no way I'd be under for the day - I…
