  • Welcome...to MFP, military spouse life, and working out/dieting. I hope that you enjoy all of it.
  • I forgot to report that in 7 days (phase 1-3 days, phase 2-4 days) I loss 4 lbs. I went off plan for another 7 days to test the theory that I would gain it all back, and during that time I loss another 1.4 lbs (so much for that theory...not my theory by the way). I'm planning to jump back into it tomorrow. I always planned…
  • I've only done phases 1 & 2, but I love the shake, soup, and salad recipes I've tried. I bought some miso a couple months ago, but then it just sat in the fridge. I've since used all of it and purchased more (both white & red this time). I've used it in soups and absolutely love the Thermo Dressing which uses it as an…
  • I plan to stop through to offer support, but for whatever reason joining a challenge like this has always guaranteed failure for me. I know it sounds crazy.
  • Seems like we're in similar places. How have things been working out for you? I think think slowing down your detox was a great plan.
  • My husband isn't deployed, but I'm excited for you and your transformation. I hope times flies by so that you can be reunited soon, but I hope it goes by just slow enough for you to accomplish all that you want to do while he is gone!
  • I agree that neither kombucha or sauerkraut are necessary, but eating cabbage and drinking tea are two different things. Yes, both are fermented and sources of probiotics, but I'm asking if anyone in this group drinks kombucha.

  • You're welcome. Is it online? Care to share a link?
  • I would use dates b/c they are natural and it would take very little to reach the level of sweetness I would want. Then that small amount would be even less when looking at individual servings of the jam. I understand why you don't want to use them. I'm not trying to convince you; that was for someone else who might read…
  • You could use dates for sweetness; just dates and fruit in either a blender or food processor. Just add dates until the sweetness is to you liking. I can't think of a reason why Splenda wouldn't work well if you wanted to use it in place of sugar for a recipe.
  • Green tea reportedly provides some appetite suppression and speeds up metabolism. I haven't tried this yet, but a book I'm reading has recipes for including it in smoothies. That might work for you if you're a smoothie drinker. You could just replace whatever liquid you would normally use with brewed green tea.
  • I did buy Teflex sheets. They are needed for some recipes, but parchment paper (usually found near aluminum foil) can be used instead. I found ease of operation and clean up to be the same for both my circular and my Excalibur...very minimal. Trays for both are/were easy to remove and clean. You can turn your dehydrator on…
  • You're very welcome! I'm glad at least one person found/finds it to be helpful.
  • In response to spynoodle not wanting to have powder both at home and at work, I've used the little sectioned containers for traveling w/baby formula to take supplements on-the-go. You can find them in the baby section in most stores. I believe they also make similar containers specifically for supplements.
  • You're very welcome, and please do check it out. I really like this book, and I would trade it for several of the other raw food books in my bookcase.
  • I started replying to you the other day, but I was using my iPad and I completely lost what I was typing when I switched tabs to look up the name of a book I wanted to type out for you. It would have been better if I had just walked through my house to my bookcase. Anyway, here's take #2. I completely agree with…
  • I haven't read the book, but I've seen it mentioned in different online raw food communities. It's definitely one that I want to read, so I'm hoping my library will get a copy b/c I'm not sure it's one that I want to buy. I'd love to read your thoughts on it as you read through it.

  • It's a book by Ani Phyo. I think it hit bookstores last month, or maybe it was the beginning of this month. It's written as 3 phases for 15 days, but it could be followed indefinitely as explained in the book. You can preview it at Amazon.com, I really like this book. I'll see how I like the recipes once I began making…
  • It looks like most of us (who have posted in this topic) view eating raw in the same way. It's great to see you all posting.
  • I know it's only been a couple days since I posted this, but I still hoped to see at least one response by now. Nevertheless, I'll be starting this on either May 20th or 21st dependent upon whether I go shopping on Saturday or Sunday. I'm planning to stick with this for a bit, so if you're reading this after some time has…
  • I just thought I'd say hi, so hi! I'm only vegan when I'm eating raw, other than that I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. I've been considering the vegan way of eating, and I currently have a copy of The Happy Herbivore on loan from my library. I'm glad you're able to move forward, and I wish you well as you overcome your…
  • I'm here w/another vote for Excalibur. My only con would be that it's large, but I don't really mind since that's why I bought it. I have a 9 tray model. I've had it for 6 years, but like Sara I go back & forth to raw food so it hasn't been used regularly. I don't find the fan noise too loud, but others might...something…
  • I've dabbled in raw food since 2005. I've gone 30 days or more of 100% raw at times before returning to my normal vegetarian eating. I'm feeling the desire to eat raw again, and I will begin Ani's 15 -Day Fat Blast soon. I think it would be great for you as an intro to raw foods. That's the title of a book by Ani Phyo. I'd…
  • Have you tried resetting your BMF by holding the button down for 20 seconds?
