  • Hey, y'all! I'm back to MFP because I was hoping to find an active discussion, but no. SO WEIRD. Feel free to send a friend request. My profile tells you about me and I just wrote a blog about the lack of chatter about peri- and menopause on the forums. Maybe we could cobble something together or at least interact with…
  • Same. I'm 51 and boy has Mary Penopause made her presence known. I'm happy to chat around in this thread or others and see what kind of momentum we can build. There don't seem to be many (if any) active groups on here regarding any of this which is strange. One thing I can throw out there is a podcast that I listen to…

  • Hi, all! Shine is on sale on Amazon right now, so I took the plunge. It should be here Wednesday... when I get everything set up, I'll start adding y'all! I also went ahead and ordered a leather band and the necklace since I found a vendor with them on sale as well.
  • MFP calculates it for you. When you enter your new weight, it will show how many pounds total you have lost.
  • This is what I'm thinking. I'm a poutine-loving Texan. On my last visit to Canada, I brought back the packets of dry poutine gravy. We used them to make poutine with actual fries. I'm going to Montreal in April and will be bringing back more gravy packets to use with the recipe below, and probably mozzarella as other…
  • I should also mention that I LOVE to cook! It turns out I can eat just about whatever I want as long as I know what goes into it!
  • I also think that yoga or Pilates would be close to accurate for calorie burn, and probably your best option. Piyo isn't really considered a cardio routine, so I'm not sure that a HRM will be too accurate. HRMs are mostly for steady state exercise, like running, walking, cycling, swimming, etc.
  • Sending you a request... I am doing Turbo Jam right now instead of running, due to tendinitis in my foot. Have to back off the walking/running for a few weeks. I started Piyo about 3 weeks ago, and I LOVE it. I enjoy bodyweight workouts vs. weights, although ChaLean Extreme wasn't too bad.
  • I'm going through a round of Piyo right now - I don't LOVE lifting weights, but I thought CLX was allright. Thanks for the link! I may try this hybrid once my round of Piyo is over.
  • I had an SI strain last summer and it SUCKED. My chiropractor had me start Pilates and I re-started yoga on my own. They are now no-excuse training for me. Those types of injuries are all about your core. I took the plunge and bought the base Piyo kit. I'm in the first week and I like it very much. It's looking like it…
  • I like these challenges because they're totally manageable and not a huge time investment. I also like that they're easy to modify. I'm just now getting back into yoga/flexibility. I'd forgotten how good I feel after a good stretching/yoga session.
  • I think I found out about Erin through you!
  • Nothing "wrong" with Pilates, per se. I started it when my chiropractor suggested it to build core strength to improve my posture after a nasty iliosacral strain last summer. I just added it in to what I normally do along with yoga for added flexibility. If you're "doing it right", it's difficult as h*ll as a beginner. I'd…
  • Juno by Moving Comfort is my personal favorite, but I've heard a lot of good things about Enell and will probably end up trying one in the future.
  • Donate them to a women's shelter or other charity, but keep one pair of your largest pants. As you get smaller, you can try them on to see how far you've come.
  • YAY! Now I can link to this in my profle. Thanks, Trog!
  • When I enter my recipes in to MFP, I use the # of total ounces of food as the number of people the recipe serves. So, one ounce of food = one serving. That way, I can measure out 8 ounces of soup and log that I had 8 servings. For me, that's the most accurate way of doing things, since sometimes maybe I only want a little…
  • This is really good advice. Also: Go back and read Trogalicious' post. There's a reason that he gets quoted over and over again.
  • I love his cut/paste "long post". I smile every time I see it. Happiest of birthdays to you, Trog! :drinker:
  • Agreed. Bacon, too. Taco Bell tried this "breakfast" thing back in the 90's, I think. And it was terrible.
  • I'd reiterate what trogalicious said, but he's already given you all you need to know so eloquently.
  • I put bacon, scallions, and greek yogurt (instead of sour cream) on my baked sweet potatoes. And sometimes cheese.
  • I combined some recipes/ideas this morning and I think I hit the nail on the head. I weighed all of my ingredients to form the MFP recipe for my own use (I do recipes by weight, not serving), but here's essentially what I did: Diced a couple of medium sized sweet potatoes into small cubes (maybe 1/2 inch?) and sprayed with…
  • Bump! I need some new breakfast ideas for the work week. A friend just sent me her sweet potato hash recipe so I'll probably try that one this weekend, but I know I'll want to tinker with it and put my own spin on it.
  • This! I have a file box that everything goes in. I went the extra mile and bulldog clipped them together by type: Italian, Asian, chicken, pork, sides, vegetarian, potatoes (!), enchiladas, soups, chilis, etc. I keep a few loose ones on the top of the stack that are "on deck" the next time I want to cook something new. I…
  • Hey there! I just got back from New Orleans. Born and raised in Texas, currently a Houstonian. Though, when the right opportunity opens up with my company I'll be moving to NOLA. I love Louisiana. I visit NOLA several times a year. I've been trying to get there permanently for the last 20 years it do but things have never…
  • Fitness Blender has A LOT more to offer than just cardio kickboxing. They have really good bodyweight workouts, and strength training workouts that use dumbbells. They also have Pilates (GREAT for deep core strength), yoga, and HIIT. If you're already familiar with some of their workouts, it may be an easy segue into some…
  • I have to second the recommendation for Moving Comfort. I LOVE the Juno bra. Awesome support, no underwire to poke you, and it doesn't give you that sports bra "uniboob" look. I have a friend that plays soccer and she swears by Enell.
