  • I would totally love that too :) I’d really love to make an accountability buddy messaging support group chat like in WhatsApp or something. Anyone else game? Feel free to add me :)
  • Ch'ang hon TKD here :) It costs $1000 for a grading in some places?!?!? Wow :(
  • I appear to have a gluten intolerance. I don't understand why anyone would want to cut it out unless they have to, I'm like a food leper and have to be very careful that I get enough carbohydrates from other sources or I get binge urges, I doubt that makes anyone lose weight :( yes supermarket bread is pants. So make your…
  • Actually dsm criteria states that the sufferer should have a bmi of 16.5 or below as far as I know, 18.5 or below is borderline anorexic. But someone with anorexic behaviours and thoughts with any BMI would be classed as eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS). I agree though, it isn't fasting, it's prolonged…
  • Gwynedd :0)
  • I was going to say The fighters body! good read.
  • and the path that continues afterwards. I think it's great to try and dispel the myth that it's all about fighting. If your art had tenets maybe you could talk about everyday situations to which the tenets could apply, or personal experiences, you know, how your art affects you as a person and your life outside of training.

  • I really don't think feelings like guilt or disgust should ever be associated with food. Diet isn't religion people, it's just part of life. There is definitely no need to go all dobby the house elf over a cookie. Even legitimate binges shouldn't be treated with guilt in my opinion, as it just causes an eat-repent-eat…
  • It is on "another calorie counting website"! There's passive, light effort, moderate effort, vigourous effort and very vigourous effort. Made me chortle, way to let your other half know you were cheating or not giving it your all. :S
  • I log when I go for a log.
  • I second this. Just do something that makes you feel good mentally, and make sure you eat what you burn. Enjoy recovery!
  • I think in way you might have an advantage. I'm also training. I've kind of noticed that female PTs get mostly female clients, and most of those are more mature ladies. I worry that when I qualify I will find it reeeeally hard to find clients as a lot of (especially more mature) women seem to have a "you're young, wait til…
  • I wear it on my head, to bulk up my brain.
  • Nope seriously doesn't matter. I know an instructor who adapted training for people in wheelchairs and all sorts of disabilities. I think we are all a bit mad too, alot of people come to martial arts with low self esteem or mental health issues, been bullied. One instructor said to me that there wasn't a person in the…
  • True, but there are the mental and physical health benefits. Plus alot of people find more motivation to maintain a decent diet once they start to exercise.
  • Do you mean the story where they guy had a stationary bike in his basement and he became so obsessed and drew a little road on the wall, invented little work men in his head who told him they were his body and they were worn out, so he dismantled it? That one put me off it! I think that was in the same book with the…
  • That is a truly incredible transformation Rich! Very inspiring, I'm proud to have you as a MFP friend :) Keep it up dude.
  • This was totally me last year. Luckily I often had lecture gaps 2-3 hours long, so I just went to the gym in that time. Do you have a gym or running track or anything that you can get to between lectures? Another thing I did was get off the bus a couple of miles early and run, but that depends on the roads for you. It's a…
  • You don't have to be underweight, or even average weight to have an eating disorder. It's all about your attitude to food, your body and weight loss. I'm not suggesting you do... just putting that out there :) I understand what you mean though, it seems as though people paying attention to what they eat, regardless of…
  • Yep. I do alternate day, like JUDDD. I'm on maintenence so I eat 500- 600 cals on fast days, which I take any time in the day and make up for the deficit on feed days. No probs training on it. Sometimes I feel a bit poop if I didn't eat the best quality food, but that's IF or not.
  • hmm dunno, In my house that may well cause a very big man tantrum! I don't like to never buy any foods, because I won't be able to avoid them forever, then when I am eventually exposed to them (makes it sound like some sort of virus) I'm more likely to say " ah well, had one peice of Birthday cake etc, might as well turn…
  • I think the method really depends on the person. For me gum and lozenges worked better as I was actually doing something (it also stops you from eating) Maybe try switching to e-cigs for the habit part. But you're right the mental attitude is the main thing. You have to WANT to quit, not just want to want to quit... if…
  • Good for you! I keep telling weight watchers people about MFP too coz it sounds pretty much the same... but not free. Nothing wrong with a bit of over indulgence, I just hate the GORGE YOURSELF! ALL MONTH!.... NOW FEEL GUILTY! messages.
  • They never interested me anyway, I'm not a girly girl at the best of times and they're so pink and vomit inducing looking, but now I refuse to! I read one in the hairdressers once: "for a flat stomach by tonight drink nothing but dandelion tea all day, you'll look great in that little black number" WHAAAAA?!?! dehyrdrate…
