I didn't say I didn't like the taste, I was just pointing out that taste is not the only factor that one should consider when deciding what to eat. Luckily I'm not a picky eater, and there are plenty of healthy foods I really like (including Greek yogurt).
-
Like most foods I find myself eating these days, I eat it for health and nutritional purposes not the taste.

Wait until someone who believes in eating back your exercise calories sees this...

I usually mix the chocolate one in my Ninja blender with ice and other things - forzen fruits, PB2, bananas, greek yogurt with fruit, etc. Works well, tastes great - but I'm sure any of the mixes on the market would work just as well this way. Also mix in a blender bottle with water sometimes, mixes and tastes fine IMO.

I started training on a treadmill also and recently transitioned to indoor track & outdoor road running. Pace definitely takes a little getting used to. I use the DigiFit app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/irunner-running-jogging-walking/id304074554?mt=8) which gives voice feedback for pace (based on GPS) and heartrate…

That's about how much I burn by running 3 or 4 miles.

Agreed. There really aren't any good alternatives :grumble:

Click "Settings" on this page between "My Topics" and "Search".

Agreed. But the EAS bars are not too bad.

LOTS of protein and weight training.

Don't know what you eat now, but I find B vitamins very helpful for energy.

I'm pretty sure that if this was true I'd have much more luck with the ladies, so I'm going to have to vote no.

Your only real hope is to go with light beers (Budweiser Select 55 is a good choice) and/or mixed drinks with 0-calorie mixers (ie Diet Coke). Do that and keep the early part of your day kind of light and you should be fine. Happy Birthday:drinker:

Also - Feel free to add me as a friend - I'm running my first 5K in 5 weeks, pretty exciting!!!! And for what it's worth, my current running shoes are Nike Air Pegasus+ 29's with Dr. Scholl's Active Series insoles - quite comfortable for me anyway.
-
Go to a specialty running store and they will fit you with proper shoes. There are a lot of aspects involved - pronation, gait, etc...

Skin elasticity has been an issue for me (I've lost about almost 60 pounds since Sept.). It's slowly catching up and I'm hopeful that it will rebound eventually, but I'd still rather have some loose skin than a huge gut. Either way I didn't / don't look good naked, but at least this way I look kinda good with a shirt on…

FWIW - There's another app on there that's pretty much the exact same thing (measures heart rate from camera) and is always free... https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/instant-heart-rate-heart-rate/id409625068?mt=8

My suspicion would be fluid retention...

IMO you're better off working on slower pace / longer distance to build up your endurance before attempting sprints. Try C25K, which is designed to ease a person into running a 5K.

This is the first Valentine's Day since my divorce last year, so my first one "alone" in 9 years. Actually I have TWO awesome Valentines to celebrate with - my daughters!

Feel free to add me - I eat plenty

That's what I was thinking, otherwise looks OK.

For tracking purposes, I would just go with what the nutrition label says. Sometimes it'll be actually be higher and sometimes lower, but it all averages out i guess. At least it's way more accurate than restaurant food is!
-
I know exactly what you mean - I'm the same way! The numbers on the nutrition label (calories, etc.) are not exact, they have an error tolerance of 20%. Drives me nuts, but not much you can do about it.
-
For weight loss, just counting calories is fine. For good health and nutrition, you should count macros too.

I recently started training for my first 5K race (also my first race of any kind), which is also in April. The C25K program is pretty good for working your way up to running for the full 5K. It's an 8 week program so you have time to get through it before your big day.

My kids (8 and 5) LOVE fruit smoothies for snack time! Various frozen fruits & berries (pineapple, mango, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, bananas, etc.) and I mix in greek yogurt, milk and spinach. Sometimes I even use popsicle moulds and freeze them. If only my parents would have thought of healthy options when I…

Recently got the Polar H7. So far so good, seems pretty accurate and reliable. Paid $62.50 for it, I would say it was worth it.
