  • The weight came off quickly--not in a month but steadily over 4 months. i also feel more energy, none of the highs and lows associated with eating candy bars, which I love!
  • I dropped 10 # easily by cutting out processed sugar and regular sugar.
  • Soo.. Nursing major here.. In my opinion cutting out sugar is a bad idea for a lot of reasons like decrease in brain activity, messing up insulin and glucose levels, body will start to use up muscle mass for energy which we want muscle cause it burns more energy which is calories. Your fat is the last thing to go when…
  • Welcome MiniFishOil! I'm back after a hiatus. Great way to keep track of food and exercise and connect with others.
  • I've been able to lose weight since June by limiting carbs to mostly veggies and fruits. There are times when I'll have some crackers with soup but by and large, the weight loss has been steady and quick. The hunger goes away within 2 days but there's usually the 4:00pm hunger that I tame with coffee and an apple or…
  • Good point elphie754. I can get through Thanksgiving and will be hiking/running in Colorado where my family and I are spending the holiday with family. The period from November through Jan 1st is always tricky for me. Parties, teachers and staff bring in all sorts of sugary foods and nuts. I do best when I stay COMPLETELY…
  • Hi Southernb3lle good for you on losing 70#! I have a sugar addiction as well and have been worrying how I'll do over the holidays. Halloween was very difficult and I ate my share of Butterfingers and Reese's peanut butter cups, but all minis : )
  • That is so mean!! There are some jerky people out there.
  • I'm IN!! I have been getting from 180 to 240 a week already and will continue to keep the exercise going. Although I've lost just five pounds, I notice how strong my body looks since beginning the 180 minutes minimum per week since December 26, 2013. I had shoulder surgery(a lot repaired) on April 7th and that set me back…
  • Hi pic3a, yep the carb craving stinks! It's important to keep your protein levels up at each meal You need to calculate it according to your weight on google or somewhere that is reliable. The US RDA is off we need more protein than the gov't suggests. I've run for over twelve years and the month or two before a 26.2…
  • Alcohol not only adds pure sugar calories to the diet--it dries out the skin! I went cold turkey almost two years ago--love wine but it didn't love me back. My red cheeks and dry skin went away and I look way better. Also dropped five pounds by eliminating wine and beer and walking more often. All good. Wish you…
  • Hi, Margie checking in. I was able to complete over half of the 100 miles. I consider this my success as I've had a sick son since November 9th. Somehow I made it through. Congrats to everyone! Even if you weren't able to complete 100 miles, you rose to the challenge--good for you! Does anybody have a December challenge…
  • I'm just over 54 miles and not much time left! I have a sick 17 year old son, just been dealing with that since November 12th. Good exercising to all of you! It's wonderful to see all the support amongst this group. Makes the goal so much more attainable.

  • Good Work Raven23uk! I figured out that the running/cycling schedule I've been on needs a change. I was doing 3 hours a week on 3 days and had too large an appetite. I'm returning to 30 mins/daily to maintain an even food consumption. The day after an hour of exercise, I was reaching for junk to eat that I hadn't planned…

  • I run outside when I can--daylight on weekends. Otherwise, I'm on a treadmill. Also, I'm counting stationary bike miles. I'm behind, it's been a difficult week for me. My son broke a finger and there are problems with the bone. Going downtown Chicago Monday to bone specialist. Praying for better news.
  • Great miles walking or running! Some of my miles are on the stationary bike as I'm training for indoor triathlons during the winter months.
  • It's good to mix up the exercise. I used to run all the time in order to train for marathons, but switched to triathlons to use other muscles. I found the calorie burn better by running one day, swimming and cycling the next, running the third day with yoga and so on. It's muscle confusion to the body and a better calorie…
  • I was told by women who went to high school with her in Chicago, that I looked like Donna Mills. She wears like quadruple the make up, and I wish I had her fame and dinero!!
  • Yes, tlatrice13 do begin! There's a link to the spreadsheet where we are tracking our mileage. Good luck and enjoy the challenge!
  • I'm behind, but am trying to keep in mind that the holidays are getting closer and the eating will be more intense! Run, walk what you can. I added 5.6 miles on the stationary bike because it's part of my training program.
  • I switched shoes after I had blister problems all of a sudden from my FAVORITE pair of shoes. I would suggest taking the day off to heal it up and see if it gets better from there. Wish I could help out more :( Blisters are painful! Let the air get to your feet to dry out the blisters. You might try thin dry fit socks or…
  • Jamie, life gets in our way--all the time! Just do as you can even if you have to break up the walking into 10 minute segments. I don't have a pedometer but you could measure walking steps with one. Sick kids need their hugs and care, hang in there~
  • Yes, especially two days after a good outdoor run. I have to get more calories on those days--try for fruit.
  • haha maybe that is why I'm irritable!
  • drakechic08, I totally agree. I've trained by time, estimating the distance but I do keep in mind the distance so that I know that two hours of training running might equal 11 miles or so. We always took 2 or 3 water/Gu breaks and perhaps bathroom break. Jeff Galloway has good training plans!
  • I had the same thing on one side of my mouth. Braces that made space for a fake tooth fixed that. Must be genetic, my older sister was missing both eye teeth {' o
  • Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a healthy way to eat.
  • One more detail about long distance running, buy you may already know this: Run a normal(ish) distance 3 or 4 times a week, and on the weekend, slowly increase the miles by one or two, until you are at 13 or 14 miles. So for 26.2 miles, I would begin with 5 miles three times/wkly then 2nd week the weekend run was 6. Third…
  • Krissy, as long as the weather behaves, you can certainly increase your current mileage from 85/month to 100/month in November. Which half marathon are you running?
  • YEAH for feeling better!!
