  • I used to do that all the time as a kid.
  • On the website BodyBuilding.com they have some awesome beginner workout routines. That's how I started, and through it I became more comfortable with using the machines and especially the free weights. Here: BB - Find A Plan
  • I didn't even realize I wrote "lately" twice. Was on my phone, and the brightness was at 0 because it was dying. I'm actually proud that there were no spelling mistakes. Man I'm awesome. Haha...I'm joking...thanks for the suggestions. I was so angry last night I couldn't sleep, and was tossing and turning all night, which…

  • Orbit gum - 5 calories x 14 sticks = 70 calories total. Big Red - 10 calories x 15 sticks = 150 calories total. Eclipse - 5 calories per 2 pieces x 12 pieces = 30 calories total. These total caloric values for a pack aren't all that crazy. If it helps curb her appetite, then all these claims of it potentially increasing…
  • There's nothing wrong with chewing gum. Just don't swallow it! Stays in your gut for 7 years!! ....I'm kidding. Chewing gum can cause bloating due to the air ingested, but other than that, nothing really. Seems to have a lot more positives for you personally than negatives, based on your OP. ETA: Plus side, fresh breath!
  • I struggled a lot on the last rep, but I was able to squat 85lbs (1x5) yesterday! A couple weeks ago I couldn't even do 3 reps at 60lbs. It's really encouraging, being able to see improvement and progress like that.
  • That's great! Congratulations!
  • I only use coconut oil for my hair, once in a blue moon. You melt it in the microwave, coat your hair, leave in over night, shampoo (sometimes twice, cuz oily oil is oily) and blow dry. Makes it pretty soft for awhile. As for a weight loss aid.....I think that's a bogus claim.
  • Oh wait, my bad. I thought Olympic plates meant the bumper plates, which we don't have. It has plenty of the regular ones. Actually from working out the other day I found another pet peeve: When people take the weight clamps from the squat rack and put them on the smith machine. WHY.
  • Weight stack, to me = weight machines. But you're right, she didn't specify. For me personally? Loud sudden noises (in general) are unpleasant, especially if there isn't a rhythm to it. But again, it doesn't affect my workout, I keep trucking along. It's in that list of personal pet peeves along with not re-racking…
  • I assume they meant for machines, not free weights. And yeah, even though it's not directly affecting my workout, it's rather annoying to listen to. Especially if I can hear it over my music.
  • Yes ma'am. Like what others have said, it helps with cramps.
  • I'm curious, what would you do if you didn't have a lock on your locker, and you saw someone take your stuff out, put their stuff in, and lock it?
  • So I just came back from the gym, and I have to agree with other posters. I found out it REALLY bothers me when I'm at the squat rack and people are right behind me. The lane down the free weight area is large enough so that you don't have to be all up in my space when walking around. URGH.
  • Pretty much anytime I eat a restaurant pasta dish. I just log it and move on, because delicious food be delicious.
  • That reminds me of something I saw on iFunny:
  • Pet peeves at the gym? 1. When people don't re-rack their weights. 2. When a cloud of cologne/perfume wafts in my face. 3. When people don't wipe down their machines. 4. When these two guys (always the same two guys) plant themselves in a gap of space in the weight area and shout conversations at each other louder than my…
  • Before MFP......I was probably eating more than 3000 calories. On another note, unless you're a really sedentary person, 1200 calories, I believe, is too low to maintain for long. I'm 5'1 and eat between 1700-1900 calories a day, and have managed to lose 10 pounds. Slowly? Sure, but I've kept it off for awhile now. Here's…
  • Man that takes me back...I haven't eaten apples with peanut butter since I was a little kid. I pretty much dip bananas in everything though.
  • Look up Laura Miller. She's vegan -- used to be raw vegan. She has this little segment on the Youtube channel TasteMade called "Raw. Vegan. Not Gross." She seems pretty chill, and is slightly hilarious. I myself am not vegan, but I'll try out her recipes every now and then to mix things up with the veggie category of my…
  • Scallops. Because, ew. I've been able to cut down quite a lot on coffee ---not by choice--- with some success. I found out consuming a certain amount of it gave me heart murmurs. That was hard.....*cry*
  • You, I like you.
  • Don't look at me. I don't use the flagging system because it's pretty lame and ambiguous. Speaking of, we should get a petition going for this possible flagging upgrade: Honest Flagging System
  • Here is an informative post on the subject: Why Aspartame Isn't Scary
  • The dose makes the poison. This is true of pretty much everything we ingest. edited for spelling error.
