  • This thread has been so very interesting to read. As a mostly (and newly) vegetarian woman in my 40s starting to add light weight training into my routine I have gotten a lot to think about. I am analyzing my current diet routine (I am eat according to habits) to see room for protein growth as I also try to eat more…
  • I gave up alcohol at the end of June. I had headaches on and off for the first two weeks. Hopefully yours do not last as long. I have to say, though, that a life without alcohol (or at least with limited) is really worth it. I feel so much better these days. My favorite sub is fruity herbal teas. Some day I drink them in…
  • I eat a bit below maintenance during the week, and then only log breakfast, maybe lunch, on the weekends. If we go out to eat, or ever to a friend's house, I don't bother logging. This has been working for me since I hit my goal weight.
  • I am eating for the work days towards a MFP setting of losing 0.5 pounds per week. This lets me go into the red on weekends without really worrying about it. After a few weeks of this, I am finding myself maintaining well for the first time ever. I also am making myself hit my daily goal of 11,000 steps on the weekends,…
  • I have been working on losing just about 8-10 pounds this summer to get from clothes being too tight to my ideal weight. It has been a slow process, but definitely possible. I don’t weigh my food either and use the same process as you with measuring and overestimating if I feel I should. I have also had some weeks where I…
  • I am just now beginning to accept how much a few pounds shows up on my body. I thought I could have a pretty big goal range, and everything would be fine, but that isn't the case. At 128+ my clothes are tight/don't fit and I feel bad about how my stomach looks. At 125, my clothes are comfortably loose and I am starting to…
  • Awesome! My calculations and my average 3mo burn on my Fitbit app were only 15 calories apart! So... I guess my TDEE is 2175? That seems really, high, but I will move my calories up towards that until I am maintaining my weight, right? And then I will just make sure I am eating a few hundred under that for today. THANK…
  • Holy Cow! This is some very, very advanced use of MFP and fitbit data! I am going to work through this as soon as my kids stop literally running in circles.
  • Thank you! I don't want boobs, as far as I can tell they would just get in the way. I was more commenting on why none of the other ladies posted here would never be MY ideal, hot as they are.
  • This is one of the best posts I have read on here. Thank you!!!!
  • Shakira has my dream body. I am so close! (I have to ignore the hot ladies with boobs, because that just isn't going to happen for me.)
  • I think this is part of the danger of fit bits.... they measure a lot of activity that is just normal every day stuff. When looking at the math for weight loss, I would have an exact measure for your intake and only measure your purposeful exercise, especially if you are thinking about eating calories back.

  • If you are feeling that you are not toned, I would ignore the scale for a bit and try to add some muscle.
  • I am 5'3'' and started at 133 a month ago. I am eating 1500 calories a day, plus eating back exercise calories. My profile pic is be yesterday after exercising. Eat more, and you will still lose weight, and you will be less hungry b
  • Popcorn with salt solves a lot of my cravings. I have some good popped popcorn and himalayan pink sea salt. I put a lot of salt on it and can eat a bowl for very few calories. I simply cannot buy food that I will binge on (candy, crisps, chocolate, ice cream) because I will eat it all.
  • I get that sometimes when I eat heavier food than normal. Most days I eat a pretty "clean" low dairy, low refined carb diet. When I have some splurge days I end with a much bigger stomach. Usually this involves more dairy or white flour than my body is used to.
  • Thank you very much! The last 5 pounds I lost made a huge difference. I think the next five will be even better. I was 123 when I was 12 weeks pregnant with my twins, but I have more muscle than I did then, so I don't think I will get that low again.
  • I am 5'3'' and my goal is 125 pounds. My profile picture is last week at 130. It is mainly my stomach that I would like to lose from, and the slight rolls on the sides. Considering that I almost hit 200 lbs when I was pregnant with my twins, I am lucky to have the stomach that I do, though.
  • I get very frustrated the week before my period starts because I don't lose weight at all and am hungry all the time. I never seem to realize what is going on. Then it starts, I lose weight again, and it all makes sense. Repeat each month.
  • If I go to the gym 600ish, a run 400ish, or at home 300ish. I just got a HRM yesterday, so I am interested to see how much my cardio sessions actually burn.
  • Amazing. I am literally in tears. You are a wonderful writer and look even better in that dress.
  • Meat is definitely safe, at least at our farmer's market, though it is typically frozen. We get some awesome steaks, roasts, sausages, bacon, and other goodies from ours. The eggs are also awesome.

  • Right now I am loving plain non-fat greek yogurt mixed with some thawed frozen raspberries (they basically turn to a thick juice and add a lot of flavor) and some regular blueberries. Yummy. I also like sliced ham with some spicy mustard and reduced fat cheddar laid flat (like three little pizzas) and put under the broiler…
  • Years and years ago I read Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating. http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Drink-Be-Healthy-Harvard/dp/0743266420/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374056647&sr=8-1&keywords=harvard+healthy+eating As a result I did replace white wheat with whole wheat and white rice with…
  • Nope. I don't count house work, playing at the park with my kids, or anything like that. I only count intentional exercise.
  • We currently get two CSA boxes. We have gotten some things that have gone to waste, but I have also learned to incorporate a lot more veggies into our meals, both in quantity and variety. I am looking at it as a great learning experience for both me and my family. I do, though, love to cook and research recipes.

  • I put my activity level as sedentary and then I just eat back any calories I burn through intentional exercise.
  • Wow! The difference in your waist is especially amazing! Great work!
  • I forgot about the peeing anywhere. That is especially not fair now that I have had three kids and drink 100+ oz of water a day. I pee all the time!
  • I would cut out some extra calories for a few days, in fact I am today to make up for last night. A few days (just1-3) of more severely limiting calories will not put you into starvation mode. This definitely isn't something I woul do every week, though.
