  • I know exactly what it's like to not be supporting myself at an age where every expect that's what I would be doing regardless of life circumstances. My suggestion would be talk to your dad about trying a different diet. Buy a bag of rice,a bag of lentils or beans (which ever you can tolerate), and an onion. For everyone…
  • In nursing school we were taught that items with caffeine (coffee, black tea, etc) are worth half the amount consumed. Juice and water are worth 100% of the amount consumed. Hope this helps.
  • This. I almost flipped out when my scale went up after i had a particularly active day. Then I remembered where I am in my cycle and where that puts me water retention wise. I retain so much that my fingers swell.
  • Three way tie: Thunderstruck - AC/DC (played during The Road So Far of the season 5 opener) Dear Mr. Fantasy - Traffic (during the end of "Adventures in Babysitting" when Dean was trying not to cry) and Ramble On -Led Zeppelin (not technically played on the series but references as one of Dean's favorite songs in "The…
  • Ah I forgot "Buckets of crazy" "Idjit" and "If the pizza man truly loves the baby sitter, why does he keep smacking her rear? Perhaps she's done something wrong."
  • Does anyone else sometimes speak in supernatural quotes? My Mom: "What day is it?" Me: "Yesterday was Tuesday and today is Tuesday too." Also popular in our family: "Could you eat? I could eat." and "Awesome" Not to mention classic rock and Zeppelin are in our regular music rotations.
  • Semi unpopular opinion, but if you are getting stares you are probably showing too much cleavage. Nobody ever believes me, but there really isn't that much difference coolness wise between someone wearing a tank top and someone wearing a thin long sleeved t-shirt (believe me, I've done both in my life time), but I don't…
  • I don't think it's giving maintenance of 2000 because that isn't maintenance level for everyone. You have a point about Americans, it's part of out instant gratification culture. I personally prefer the slower loss with more food to the faster loss with little food, but admittedly because I am heavier it could easily be…
  • Also the USDA website is reccomending the 2000/day as weight loss. That suggests, rather depressingly, that the average American probably eats more than 2500 in combination with a sedentary lifestyle.
  • See no they aren't. Nobody is suggesting that you will drop dead if you go below your BMR. Nobody is even suggesting that your body will drop dead if you consistently eat below BMR. The theory is that by eating below your BMR on a consistent basis, your body believes it's in a state of starvation. In response it slows your…
  • In the interest of full disclosure: the literature the USDA provides about weight loss still makes mention to the 1000-1200 calorie diet in contrast to what the website says. This is likely because the literature is out of date (it's copyright is 2005). While the new recommendations are only about a year old.
  • I think you are assuming that people who talk about not eating below your BMR as saying that you won't lose weight if you do. That isn't what they are saying (and if it is, they are misunderstanding the principle). The idea is that when you eat below your BMR consistently, you slow your metabolism. That doesn't effect…
  • By that logic, if you multiply your goal weight by 13 you should arrive at the calories you need to eat to reach your goal weight. Taking my numbers for example: Current: 244 x 13 = 3172 to maintain Goal: 150 X 17= 1950 That's still WAY above 1200.
