My excess calories came primarily from binge snacking and "gotta have ___ NOW" moments. So learning to deal with cravings is the primary factor in my weight loss success/maintenance. 1. When I have an intense craving I usually keep putting it off and it goes away after a while. Sometimes it persists for days but the act of…

Wow, it's disappointing Phil gained the weight back :\ But, from what I remember of the documentary his motivation for living a fitter/healthier lifestyle was primarily emotional. If you rely on emotions to fuel your habits eventually those emotions won't be there and you'll lose motivation. Discipline is more useful than…

Yes, those movies have their place but they're depressing! I wish you could just as easily come up with a list of black leading ladies in film plots that portray them as attractive, in love, and having fun once in a while. I suspect that's what Dacey G was getting at there - if so, I agree and identify with the sentiment.

I love this post DaceyG! Contentment is mostly in our minds and we shouldn't forget that :).

I have a sedentary job as well and was able to lose 10lbs initially by just eating at a deficit with no real increase in physical activity. It's definitely possible to do and I know people who maintain their weight loss through calories alone. I started exercising regularly once I realized I didn't want to have to eat…

That's real. The bolded is what is usually missing from weight loss discussions. Sometimes people just don't see weight gain as a big deal or weight loss as a primary priority in their lives. There are other types of people who consider being fit and thin key parts of their self-image.. typically one group has a hard time…

Yea I started weighing myself daily last year and it's helped me immensely. Once I got used to the daily fluctuations due to water weight, etc., it became impossible to lie to myself about my diet or weight gain. For example, I'm more prepared for the 2-3lb gain over a vacation or holiday week and can immediately see the…

Feel free to add me  I haven't used this app in over year but have gotten serious about my fitness and health again and would love to support other folks with their journey too.

Haha, I don't qualify for BBW status but it's great when men show appreciation for women outside of the media ideal :).

By fight club, do you mean Cross Fit?

These pictures answer quite a different set of questions for me, but thanks all the same :).

I completely agree. It's unlikely this woman's actions will cause anything but anger and defensiveness.

Alternating weight training and outdoor interval sprints has done wonders for my body shape over the past 6-8 weeks. I've only lost 5 lbs but the change is noticeable in how my clothes look/fit. My waist is trimmer and my back fat is noticeably diminished. My arms are also more defined. Edit: Oh yea, I've definitely been…

Wow! Crazy transformation! Unbelievable abs... You're definitely an inspiration for women who feel like it's too late to have a better body.

Ok, I'm sold. I'm getting a food scale from Wal-Mart today.

Wow, stellar bagged lunch.

I'm kind of surprised that some women are intimidated by men at the gym. I pay them no mind (besides sneaking looks at the hot ones haha). I mean, in no way am I competing with men and I doubt they care what I'm doing - unless I was an expert lifter and could show them up I guess..

I used to gravitate towards the cardio area only because I didn't know what I was doing in the weight section. I still consider myself a strength training newbie but having a trainer has helped a lot with confidence with machines and dumbbells. I never had much trouble with the body image issue at the gym because I…

Aww, you're sweet :). I'm 152 though, 125 is almost ghastly on me.
