Hi, I was diagnosed with RA approximately 4 years ago. Tried methotrexate..made me sick. Have been on leflunomide and that seems to be ok. I take 10 mg every other day. I also take a B-complex. I have been taking meds for collagenous colitis also. fought with the Dr. about the medications. They suggested Humira at one…

I am also 5 years into menopause and finding it very difficult to lose the weight. I am hoping getting back to logging will help. I have RA and don't feel like moving all the time! Very difficult to not be able to do the things you used to! In my mind, it's time to go...however, my body tells me differently. I like your…

Ask questions! My boyfriend does most of the cooking ...so I ask him and use the recipe builder to figure out the calories!

How do you weigh everything and not let food take over your life? [/quote] I have found once you start weighing things, it does get easier and you start to recognize what a "real" serving looks like.

I think if you maybe start with the 1lb a week and start seeing a difference you can always change your goal to 2lbs. When you don't see the scale move it can be VERY frustrating and then you might sabotage yourself, speaking from personal experience. You'll get there!

Agreed.

Hi. I stopped getting my period a bit over a year ago...before that it was irregular for about two years. Hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog and yes...weight gain! Most of the weight gain was in the last year and half. Very frustrating! Also diagnosed with RA and that certainly isn't helping! The tracking on MFP…

You are doing great Michelle! I understand about the weight! I never had to worry about it before ....til now! I also was feeling very tired and the thyroid checked out okay...turned out it was a b deficiency and a folic acid deficiency and with further blood work , I got a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis.…

My period started getting wacky two years before I actually stopped getting my period. Anywhere from 45 days to 60 days to 24!! It was absolutely a mess. I think that is just part of the process. I am not sure what the shot is all about....my doctor said is was a ride that had to be taken whether we liked it or not! AUGH!…

Hot flashes suck... except when you are outside in zero degree weather in the middle of winter! Winning! This is the new normal. YES this is NORMAL? I love you God, BUT! I do know that I able to deal with this... menopause, bring it on! Got to be easier than my divorce five years ago. Menopause: learn to laugh about it.…

Hi Everyone! I am not sure how long these damn hot flashes are going to last but they are killing me! Haven't had my period in over a year and they just seem to get worse. I did try pycnogenol for a bit and that helped...ran out..kind of pricey! Recently diagnosed with RA and tried the pycnogenol again...this time not so…

Hi, Just recently diagnosed with RA ...48 years old...between that and menopause I am now 35 pounds overweight...Never had to worry about my weight before. Lots of changes happening and trying to wrap my mind around it all. Feel better when I workout, but don't always have the energy to. Doctor says I will have to take…

It doesn't sound like you are eating enough...You need to eat to maintain..the more you work out and the less you eat...your body won't let go of the weight...

I have found that doing the crunches using an exercise ball were best for my back. using dumbbells, according to my dr. was best for "aging" people because it helps build bone...not like the weight machines at the gym. Not sure why the cardio machines would make you gain! That's a bit baffling!

I'm in!!!!

I listen to mostly country...however, when working out it has to be an upbeat, on the faster side to keep me motivated and going! With that said, I listen to a variety...country, hip hop (like it clean, though!), some heavy metal, classic rock. As long as it is on a "faster side" I can keep my heart rate up and workout at…

I'm here. would love to keep this going!

Maybe your target calories are a little low...do you like veggies? I find snacking on veggies is a huge help! or ...apples with some a bit of peanut butter...the fat in the peanut butter seems to help you stay full without a huge calorie consumption!

I think you have to "change it up" a bit...change the type of exercise you do...or if your using weights...just do those a bit differently. That seems to help with me.
