I'm not sure you are understanding the request (or maybe I'm not). Entering the nutrition details is currently a manual process having to type the quantity of each nutrient one-by-one. As I'm understanding the request, MFP should include a feature to scan the nutrition label and, using Optical Character Recognition,…

This post was a huge help, even so many years later. MFP needs to incorporate this functionality without the need for this workaround.

I second this request. I have nothing to add, the original post explained it very well. I’ve seen the OCR nutrition label scanner in other apps, they worked fast and flawlessly. As someone who frequently fixes incorrect/incomplete entries and creates new foods in the database, this would be a massive time saver. It would…

I would encourage you to find out your body fat %, be it by a bio-impedance scale, bod pod, calipers, etc. I'm 6'2.5" but by tracking my body fat %, I know that I've a lean weight (everything but fat) of about 195lbs. Knowing that a healthy male my age should be in the 8-20% range, I've set a goal of 13% body fat. That…

I'm a Runtastic fan. I use their MountainBike Pro, Timer and Heart Rate Pro apps frequently, in addition to Runtastic Pro. JEFIT is a good app for planning and logging your exercise routine. It has a large database of exercises including images and instruction as well as web-based access to your information and settings.…

I started at 485.5lbs. I have bad knees so I stick to low-impact cardio exercises; swimming, biking, elliptical. I also do strength training about 4-5 times/week.

I used Photoshop to make it. Check out this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysu8k35xWsU

I met with an exercise physiologist today who is working with the team building this product. He seems very optimistic about this product. I told him if they're ever looking for a guinea pig that they should give me a call. It seems too good to be true but if it will work as they say anticipate it will, I'd love to get my…

My gym called me out of the blue this morning. A friend of mine sent them my before/after photos. They were very complimentary and asked if they could post them on their Facebook page. They also have some gifts waiting for me at their front counter.

Thanks to everyone for all of your kind and encouraging messages!

I've just been counting my calories and moving more.
-
One of my biggest triggers to make a change was that my knees were getting too bad to do the physical activities that I enjoyed.
-
I used the animation capabilities of Photoshop (I'm a graphic designer by day.)

Small goals are really helpful to keep you on target. My goal from early on was to lose 1% of my body weight each week. It allowed for small things to get excited over along the way.

MFP! Counting my calories, eating better and incorporating exercise.

I want to be a solid 230lbs but I think I'll be adjusting that number as I get closer to it.

I burned 286 in 17 minutes yesterday and 342 in 22 minutes tonight on the elliptical. Those readings are from my Polar FT7 heart rate monitor. I'm a 6'2.5" 290lb male. I would say MFP is estimating a bit high, but it doesn't factor in the difficulty level that the machine is set to either.

I'm such a numbers nerd that my friend sent me a link to this thread. I've determined that you, nelinelineli, are my soulmate. How you doin'?

I've used my Polar FT7 quite a bit while swimming laps. You're just not supposed to push any of the buttons on the watch while it is underwater.

I'm also in Southwestern Ontario, Kitchener to be specific.

ttt for my awesome accomplishment.

The watch should be within 3.3 feet of the transmitter. http://www.polar.com/en/support/FAQs/Troubleshooting_Heart_Rate_Signal_Reception?product_id=22999&category=faqs
