I've got this TargetFitness one with watch and chest strap. Does the job perfectly fine for me--different modes, laps, current/average heart rate, beeps to keep your heart rate in the "zone," all that jazz. It was about £30 from Argos. To be fair, though, entering the personal info was a bit of a hassle. I was a bit…

I feel so much better. Breathing is easier, headaches have gone away. I quit about a year ago and though I miss it sometimes I feel infinitely better. I was never a heavy smoker, but even letting go of the pack or so a week was a great thing for me.

Not really sure why your husband has any input on how much you weigh whatsoever. My husband doesn't. He wants me to be healthy and happy and the number on the scale doesn't matter. We don't have arguments about how much I should weigh. He has no input on my weight loss because it's not for him, it's for me. Frankly, if he…

We have similar starting points :) For the first two weeks or so I went by MFP and quickly realized that it wasn't sustainable, not for a lifestyle change. Then I found this post: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 and everything changed! Figure out your BMR (what your…

All the above suggestions are great. My husband was vegan for many, many years. Now we're both vegetarian so we have to get a little creative with our protein sources. We eat a lot of quinoa, green veggies (spinach, kale, peas), soy milk, soy protein powder, and beans. There are also a great range of "meat-like" products…

Welcome! Feel free to add me if you'd like some support--I try to be positive and encouraging to all of my friends! Glad you're here :)

I used to crave some not so great foods. I was a sucker for things totally fatty like mac and cheese. What I do now is make healthier alternatives--rather than mac and cheese I make brown rice risotto with veggies and a little cheese. Not quite the same, but it tastes just as delicious and is way healthier. If you can't…

You look AMAZING! You should be incredibly proud of yourself :) Keep at it, girl, you're doing great!

Thanks for sharing! It's such an inspiration for me, especially as we had similar starting points and similar body types!

Nice job! The first week or two were kind of hard for me, but now it's just part of my daily routine--logging food and exercise and monitoring my macros. When you make it a habit that's when you start to see the changes! Best of luck :)

I try to mix it up by doing strength training a few times per week and cardio most days. I do Leslie Sansone DVDs for now--I have a really bad knee, so low-impact aerobics are my friend! She basically takes simple walking movements and turns them into a workout. It's great for beginners and those who need low-impact…

This. MFP is a good starting point, but read this and get the spreadsheet going. I know how you feel, though. Your reasons for getting fit are some of mine, as well. Feel free to add me and we can support each other and I'll help if I can!

Being married is all about supporting your partner. Sometimes it's harder to do that. My advice? Do what you want to do. Even if he disagrees or doesn't support it. You have to do what's going to make you happy (as does he), otherwise you'll both be stuck in an unhappy relationship. As long as you're not neglecting the…

I'm a vegetarian so I can relate to the difficulty of getting all of the required protein in. I have a protein shake every day--just frozen berries, low-cal low-carb natural fruit juice and soy protein powder. About 160 calories for one of those. And then I supplement with beans or chickpeas with at least one meal per day…

Welcome :) I too have 100 pounds to lose. I know exactly what you mean--I'm the queen of not finishing things, but after a month of logging on here it's old hat and just part of my routine now. It's just getting into the habit of doing things that's the hard part. Feel free to add me and we can give each other some support…

I have over 100 pounds to lose as well--I've been on MFP for a few weeks now and have found it incredibly helpful in tracking food and exercise and keeping me on goal. All you need is the motivation and we call ALL help you with that! Feel free to add me if you want!

I'm American, but I live in England :)

I have over 100 to lose, too. You're welcome to add me :)

Feel free to friend me. I've only lived in England for just over a year so I can relate to not having too many people for support. Health issues suck, but you just have to tweak things until they work for you. It may take some time, but it'll be SO worth it in the end :)

I've got about the same to lose and am just starting out. Feel free to add me! We can do it :)
-
Welcome! I have a similar goal :) Just keep your head up. We can do it!
-
It's so hard to do anything when there's no support, but you'll find it here :) We all know what it feels like to have a weight loss goal! Feel free to add :)

I'm 23 and pretty new :)
