  • Had my gallbladder out years ago and no issues so far. they did not specify an eating plan post surgery. I think you are alright with your goal. Perhaps change your my fitness pal setting to sedentary and eat in the range until you feel well enough to move around better. On that note I felt 110% better post surgery than I…
  • Its interesting to see but I don't eat it back unless it is a really heavy day. This conversation has me thinking...
  • I try to - it does make a difference for sure and using the app makes it easy. a tablespoon of oil, a bite of potato salad, some chips all add up as empty calories. I don't want to waste my time with empty calories!
  • thanks so much I needed this boost!!! 40 sticks and counting!!!
  • Saw an awesome post - every 4 sticks of butter = 1 lb of fat. that visual motivated me today!!
  • I love TRX. Its such a good combo and real strength training workout! It built up my strength and I loved it so much I had my husband rig me a set at home that I use for quad, ham strengthening. Its great for core too. so glad you like it!
  • So much easier to have the same thing for breakfast most days. simply grab and go no having to think or make another decision. No option paralysis! I can't stand to eat the same dinner over and over but breakfast - hey its easy!
  • I agree sigs! Horse and rider (I think) posted a calorie burner poster on FB that was really helpful to me. when I bothered to crunch it it was pretty much close to my fitbit so I thought ok. I don't count my exercise toward my edible cals anyway right now.
  • what type of eating preferences do you have also plays into it.
  • I'm curious about this - I just use my fitbit to track my exercise - I don't bother putting in yoga, or horseback riding, or PT etc. do you find it makes a difference? I got frustrated trying to log my PT strength training. to many clicks to much time on the computer. I'd rather be moving.
  • I a'm not very good about following the forums either - rather be riding or doing horsey chores :-)
  • Thanks all!! wish this page was more active! Surgery scheduled for May 19 so I will be riding hard before then!!!!
  • AK what is your hr like when riding? I have been curious about that.
  • I WILL do well! I WILL make it through :-) thanks so much for the info!
  • Thanks everyone! Shifterbrainz I appreciate the message! I am scheduled for surgery May 19 with a college surgeon who does hundreds a year. I am confident and optimistic. He recommends a cadaver due to age (52) And says he is optimistic as I am committed. Again thanks so much! I tried to blog but is did not upload. I will…
  • LOL sst036 that's great advice - and the balance exercises were fantastic until my knee subluxed on me getting out of a trailer (kind of like walking off a curb) so surgery it is. pretty swollen and angry right now so see the surgeon next Thursday to schedule. Sigh. BUT last night was able to do some yoga, leg raises and…
  • Thanks both of you! I have been building my hamstrings and the ortho is surprised and pleased with my muscles (that surprised me!!). I have just started propriation(?) exercised - drills crabwalk, grapevine, balance on one foot. sigh. so super bummed. I was wondering about the donor graft vs hamstring. pretty sure I don't…
  • Thanks for all the replies! Yahoo! I will check in more often :-) Unfortunately I had the horses at the dentist yesterday and my knee gave out - in the hinged brace - dang it hurt! Still does. So I emailed the surgeon and said lets go. If it does that just stepping out of a trailer about 6" above ground then I need to have…
  • I guess I am not a coper after all - :-( Yesterday with my hinged brace on my knew blew out getting out of the trailer - OMG it hurts!! That is it - I can't deal with that and I have a high pain tolerance (according to doc and PT) :-( so surgery it is. I will blog about it once I get the energy to do it.
  • I have learned not to pay to much attention to the scale - it has taken me a long time to do that! A few weeks ago I went up 10 lbs in one week! Impossible according to the math - the next day I was down 5! Again impossible then down 3 more the following. I am going to track it daily for a bit as I am curious what the…
  • Me - no I fell forward down a slope to right my foot went left dislocated knee - popped ACL tore medial and meniscus - she said it was just the torque on my joint as my muscles tried to hold everything where is should be. Guess I have very good muscles. - that is one of the reasons the ortho said I may not need surgery. At…
  • Thanks to both of you! I see the ortho again for reeval this Monday. Currently have been doing PT twice a week and at home daily - hamstrings, calf, glutes mostly and there is a big difference. Everyone is amazed how well I am doing 90 days post dislocation and tears. 10K plus steps a day, riding (even posted a bit sunday)…
  • I take mine off once I get on the horse (I have a flex) but I like to count my steps around the barn because I get ridiculous steps running back and forth! Been using it for over a year now.
  • I just started last week but am down 11 lbs so far this year!!!
  • 1/1 - 221 lbs 1/22 - 219 lbs 2/5 - 216 lbs 2/12 - 215.8 lbs 2/19 - 212 lbs Total Challenge Loss: 8.6 lbs MFP Start: 224 Easter goal: 199 lbs Ultimate goal: 173 lbs I just joined this group as I am looking for some challenges. Currently recovering from a blown out ACL and knee dislocation - my main motivator to lose weight…
  • this has been great! I am trying to decide to have surgery or not. the Doc I have (sports med ortho for apac 12 univeristy) says I probably won't need surgery even though I blew the ACL, Tore MCL, damaged meniscus medial(he says it may heal) and fractured tib and femur (common with ACL blow out). I did not believe him but…
  • there is also no search feature - it only lets you see the popular ones - very frustrating and a deterrent!
  • I do well on 30 carbs 35 protein 35 fat but most of time I dont reach my carb and it makes my fat higher. I too work on my protein intake more than the other ratios and let them fall as they will so far (2 weeks now) working great and feeling good.
  • I tweeked mine to 30 carb 35 fat 35 protein Yes fat is necessary for vitamin solubility brain function all Erroll said. I am working on staying in my calorie goal and keeping my macros stable.
