This thread is pretty old, but it's still true! I've been working out pretty consistently (5-6x/week) for the past 8 months and while I have dropped inches at the waist, my weight has not dropped. I've also bulked up in the chest/legs/shoulders which must account for this. In order to truly understand if you're making…

Kudos to you for finding time to workout between the kids and wife. You obviously have the dedication. I am more or less in the same boat as you in terms of fitness. I've spent the last 4 months doing a lot of weight training. I've gained a considerable amount of muscle (6 lbs heavier) and everyone tells me that I've lost…

1 LB is great! Keep doing your routine and tracking your calories. Eventually you will become aware of how your body is affected by food and exercise. Once you reach that level, you will understand how hard to push yourself and what to eat. Like many other posts before me, 1 LB is excellent so turn that frown upside down!…

When I first started taking "protein shakes" it was to bulk up. I would get stomach bloating and sometimes even indigestion. I started taking them again recently and the same issues arised. I even have the same issues with things like "muscle milk" and other brands. Btw, I never "bulked-up". Fed up with all these "protein…

Whenever I watch movies based on pre-existing material, I tend to look at it in two ways. 1) Is the movie true to it's material ? 2) Did the movie entertain ? While I haven't read the comics, I know it did not meet #1. I can see how it's disappointing - as disappointment is based on expectation. If you have no expectation,…

Do you have any suggestions on specific workout routines?

Congratulations to you both on beating the cancer! I just started using the forums today and realized there's a ton of helpful people on here. Just look around the forums and you will find plenty of people with similar goals as you. It's not about the falling, but the getting back up. You've done it before and you can do…

Whoa! You guys just blew my mind. I had no idea about adjusting each of those items (fat, protein, etc). That makes more sense. Thanks grantdumas7 and jenmc14. Will certainly research the topics mentioned. Have you guys used MFP to put on pounds?
-
Thank you DavPul. Those were my thoughts exactly. I think MFP is great for losing weight, but for gaining it doesn't factor in carbs, protein, sugars, etc... I agree with you and I think I will use MFP as an awareness tool of what I'm eating instead.

Thank you for the responses everyone. I probably should've clarified on the routine. I am following a 5-day workout routine. It's supposed to be followed with 2 days rest. Some weeks I actually take 2 days off, other weeks, I just start the routine over with no rest. One would think it's not enough rest, but I only workout…
