Thanks guys, been reading about yoga for it! Got a physio appointment on Friday as well 😁

I've not found any difference in weight loss due to meal timing. One thing I'd like to point out is 1300 calories a day while working out 5-6 days a week is far too few calories for your stats.

Just do a basic strength training program like 5x5 or something similar. For "toning" your body just eat at a slight calorie deficit (calculate your TDEE and eat 250-500 calories below it) whilst progressing through your strength training program.

Diet should be your primary focus. For exercise a mix is best. Weight lifting will help you look as good as possible after that weight loss. Cardio can either be used to help bring your total calories down or allow you to eat more (making it easier to hit your macros)

Weight lifting to maintain as much muscle in your legs as possible will minimize loose skin.

Lifting will help retain muscle mass. A person starting at 230lb could potentially look better at 180lb then 170lb if lifting was involved but not in the latter. The main compound exercises are the way to go to retain as much muscle as possible. If you want you can do others exercises but they aren't necessary (if you do…

5'11 SW - >240lb CW - 196lb GW - 176lb 20lbs to go then a slow bulk :]

To lose a stone in a month is exceptionally unhealthy. I don't know about your activity levels or anything like that but usually anything over about 6lb a month is too much, so to try lose 14lb in a month would be dangerous. This is all just generally speaking. Unless you are severely obese I would try to lose somewhere in…

You can't spot reduce. Keep in a calorie deficit and it will eventually go. It's down to genetics where you lose fat from, there's nothing you can do to make your body lose fat in certain areas.
-
You can't spot reduce. No matter what you do you can't speed up weight loss in certain areas. It's down to genetics where the fat will come off. Stay in a calorie deficit, it will eventually come off!

No worries bro! To OP. Best bet for shakes and stuff is to make them yourself. You will save a tonne of money and you know EXACTLY what's going in them. Plus you can tweak them to your taste and macros!

Being 100% sarcastic. She stated earlier: "And people who don't understand that a packet of pop tarts is not a portion will log it as a portion and then wonder why they're not losing weight. But hey who cares about accurate logging? That's got nothing to do with weight loss. Oh wait..." I still do not understand that…

"Wait did you just complicate it with food scales? So it's not 'just' eat less then is it." You have said using food scales and measuring food is complicated to the average person. It is a matter of eating less calories than you burn. That is not a complicated concept or process. There is no reason to have meal replacement…
-
So you are saying putting some food on a food scale is too difficult for the average person so you may as well buy a meal replacement shake? That logic!
-
If you are accurately logging you should really be using scales and measuring in grams. Your packet of pop tart analogy makes no sense. I'm sure anyone with basic mathematics skills would know to get the calories of one pop tart would be the total packet calories divided by the amount of pop tarts. Plus as shown below…

You've just made it complicated. Eating less than you burn will result in weight loss. That is not complicated what so ever. All the factors you involved are to help with health while cutting. I was specifically referring to weight loss in which none of that is relevant if you know your TDEE.

I'm at University in Edinburgh! Don't buy foods you will snack on. I keep my flat empty of things like biscuits, crisps, chocolate bars and the like. Plan your days food the day before or when you get up in the morning. It's so easy to just leave Uni, go to the shop next to it and grab a few treats because you think you…
-
Why? Why would you? That's the real question. A 200 calorie shake will not fill you up anywhere near as much as 200 calories coming from something like beef. As stated above: yes with slimfast. I was generally hungry and my pee smelled like slimfast. Take that for what it is worth. Not to even mention the price of some of…

Nope nope nope. You shouldn't really be replacing food for any reason...

I was in Spain for 5 days, didn't eat fantastically. Just get back on track. Less than 2 weeks since I left for Spain and I'm already 4lb lighter than when I left :P just keep moving forward!

People judging others in the gym is the exact opposite of what they should be doing. These people are obviously insecure about themselves (hence the need to openly judge others, most likely speaking loudly so you hear them.) Just report them. Besides, they are probably going to have quit the gym within a month after they…

I'm not sure what you mean by iifym (I know this to be a way of eating, not a programme of any kind) If you know your TDEE just eat a multiple of 250 under your TDEE each day (each multiple of 250 calories eaten under your TDEE is equal to 0.5lb lost per week) If the above is essentially what you are doing then no, you…

Was gonna say paintballing but that's almost cruel... Karaoke!!!

A LOT of that will be water weight. I'd have thought at least 6lb if not more. Drink lots of fluids, avoid foods with high sodium or salt and you should drop most of those 10lb back off over the next couple of weeks. People mess up, it happens. Learn from your mistakes and continue on the right path!

Setting unreasonable goals seems to be the downfall of a lot of people. You must first understand 5 stone is a lot and will take time. I will always preach mental strength is what will make or break somebodies journey. Everything you do is within your grasp. Bad things happen around us all the time, a lot of people use it…

First throw toning out of your dictionary. You either lose fat or gain muscle. (or maintain.) You cannot spot reduce so to lose on your stomach and legs you will just have to maintain a deficit until your body starts using the fat around those spots as energy. This might be after losing 5lb, it may be after losing 40lb.…

I live in the highlands, it's rude to enter a gym without a kilt on! ;)

I witnessed someone come into the gym with something along the line of clothes in the picture. He did a couple of machines while a girl followed him around (she didn't do a thing) then they both left. Haven't seen either of them since... Genuinely looked like something out of a weird hipster sort of fashion show.
