  • That's why I said teens/early 20's - might be easier seeing someone who is 18/19/20, etc, and has struggled to get fit then hearing it from his 42-year-old mom and 47-year-old dad, kwim?
  • Thanks - unfortunately with hubby out of work and me only having a part time job at the moment, I just can't afford a Fit Bit right now.
  • I'm in and would like to join - I've already got 3 miles in for today (run/walk)!!!
  • Wow - absolutely outstanding! Congratulations! And a "shout-out" from a fellow "Maineiac" LOL! :-)
  • Thanks - I ended up putting it as circuit for now as I did 4 sets of reps - but wasn't really sure. I would love to get something like the Body Media, etc, to get a more accurate picture of what I am truly burning.
  • Guess I'll answer my own questions lol 1. When was your surgery? Aug 28,2012 2. Where from? (don't need to specify city or anything just general state or country is fine) Maine 3. Your Dr.'s/dietitian's stand on soda after surgery? Never again 4. Your Dr.'s/dietitian's stand on straws after surgery? Never again 5. Your…

  • Welcome! Sounds like you are well on your way! Pretty exciting stuff, isn't it!? Feel free to ask any questions along the way - amazing support here! :-)
  • I am totally hooked on Chike Iced Coffee - http://www.chikenutrition.com/buy-chike-coffee-tubs.html. I do not like any of the others - I find them too sweet - they make me gag. I suffered through them initially cause how else do you get your protein in when you re fresh from surgery and can't eat solid foods? A few weeks…
  • How is your protein intake? I have noticed for myself personally (I am 6mths out) that when the scale stops moving, I need to up my protein and calories/carbs as well. Once I start eating a bit more, the scale moves once again. As I said though I am 6 mths out as of Thursday. I've lost 109lbs. I work out 7 days a week -…

  • 1. Date and the surgery you chose. August 28th, 2012 - will be 6 mths post op in 10 days. I had GBS RNY. 2. How you are feeling about your choice - considering your choice & what you know now, do you think you would have picked another method (i.e. sleeve or dieting et al). I am very happy with my choice. Just wish I had…
  • Well I didn't make it to goal but I did loose 10lbs and I am feeling pretty good about that! :-)
  • Starting weight: 260lbs - Goal: 245lbs 1/21/13 - 257lbs (-3lb loss) 1/28/13 - 255lbs (-2lbs loss) 2/11/13 - 252lbs (-3lbs loss) * I don't see me making my goal in the next three days lol Exercise goal was 30 minutes a day / 6 days a week. 1/21/13 This past week I completed 298 minutes of exercise & burned 4491 calories!…
  • I do not open my food dairy as I use the "notes" section to record some other personal health information that I have no intention of sharing with the world. A typical day for me might go as follows: Protein Shake with skim milk for breakfast. 3oz of chicken breast grilled with a tablespoon of green beans and tablespoon of…
  • I've been this way since day 1 out ...very loose stools - heaven forbid I pass gas because it won't just be gas if you get my drift. In the past I've had problems with IBS - not sure if the surgery has kicked it up a notch or what. Meant to ask my surgeon on Monday but totally forgot.
  • I am barely making it in time sometimes - just hits me and it's like a mad dash to run and get there in time. :-(
  • Not here...umm...change in consistency ...very loose...
  • Sugar free popsicles were a lifesaver - helped with the sweet craving - were nice and cold - and something I could actually "chew". My pre op diet was two weeks long and only liquids (sugar free jello, low sodium broth, protein shakes, etc).
  • OMgosh that would be awesome - I'll send you a message.
  • Starting weight: 260lbs - Goal: 245lbs 1/21/13 - 257lbs (-3lb loss) 1/28/13 - 255lbs (-2lbs loss) Exercise goal was 30 minutes a day / 6 days a week. 1/21/13 This past week I completed 298 minutes of exercise & burned 4491 calories! Woot! 1/28/13 This week I completed 407 minutes of exercise & burned 4125 calories! Woot!
  • I love my Recumbent bike - I feel fully supported - my knee that I've injured (ACL & Meniscus tear) doesn't bother me when I use it - I ride every day anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on what other workout I am doing and the biggest bonus is my girl parts aren't numb when I am done - quite honestly I prefer my parts…
  • Here is my Raven - she's a service/companion dog for my special needs son. She is Black Labrador/Golden Retriever mix. She's a year old. And a big baby! LOL! When we brought her home @ 8 weeks old - Back in December - -
  • I have social anxiety and in turn don't like being in crowds or in situations where I perceive myself as being watched. Therefore, I work out at home - I have a treadmill, recumbent bike, Wii Fit, work out dvd's...looking to add some weights and possibly an elliptical to the mix. I stay committed this way because I can do…
  • I was told never again - I had to give it up before the surgery when I started the whole process. It's one of those things that for me personally, it's well worth never having alcohol again if it means I have my health back.
  • Nope, doesn't count - I was automatically disqualified from the game of Life. As we all know with any weight loss surgery, I picked up the phone one day cause I was feeling too lazy from sitting on my *kitten* eating bonbons and didn't feel like working out, and said, "sign me up for Gastric Bypass'. That was a Tuesday -…
  • I have forgotten to update this... Starting weight: 260lbs - Goal: 245lbs 1/21/13 - 257lbs (-3lb loss) Exercise goal was 30 minutes a day / 6 days a week. This past week I completed 298 minutes of exercise & burned 4491 calories! Woot!
  • My dietitian said to keep it around 30 per meal, so that is what I do. Some days it's a bit more, some days it's a bit less. Overall, I've been instructed to not really pay attention to the carbs/fats because the focus should be on protein and if I am eating the right things then the carbs/fats will fall into place. I am…
  • How far out are you? I had this happen at the end of Sept - so around 1 month post op. Freaked me right out - Dr. put me on Prilosec and another medication - honestly, I can't even remember now how exactly he explained it but he was confident it wouldn't happen again and it never did. Good luck! Erin
