save your self some money and buy a jump rope. its a much better and much more fun workout.

Doubling down on this. But if the money is just burning a hole in your pocket get a SPIN bike, not recumbent or upright

Or a road bike with an indoor trainer - cycle inside in winter and crummy weather, outside during nice weather.
But I also vote for the jump rope, it seems so easy, but is really tough.
  • I prefer Recumbent as after awhile on an upright my back, and knee begins to hurt and my butt and lady parts start to lose feeling and its rather uncomfortable. And recumbent you can multitask easier such as reading, weights or whatever you need to do.

How about an elliptical trainer? No impact and a better ergonomic fit than a stationary bike.

Upright will give you a more intense workout, in my opinion. I went on a recumbent all of once and hated it. The workout was nowhere near as intense, or as natural. I get 600 calories an hour burn on the upright, with the right amount of effort and resistance.

LOL...thanks everyone! I may take a look at some spin bikes.

Doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred..you have a few sets of rope-less jumping...kicks my butt!!!

Hubby would be all for a road bike. He has a lot of friends who do triathlons and he has mentioned it before...I however, have no desire to ride a bike around here...I would be roadkill for sure.

Our closest Y is probably an hour-ish drive. :(

Recumbent! I use it at the gym. I love it for HITT workouts. Planning on buying one in near future.

I love my Recumbent bike - I feel fully supported - my knee that I've injured (ACL & Meniscus tear) doesn't bother me when I use it - I ride every day anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on what other workout I am doing and the biggest bonus is my girl parts aren't numb when I am done - quite honestly I prefer my parts to still have feeling in them when I am done working out - not like they've been numbed to hell and back! LOL!

Upright all the way - mine works great and it's as small as a spin bike. I just bought a new padded seat which is VERY comfy. They also make seats without the... well, the middle part that can irritate your lady parts. My SIL has that one and, while it took a little while to get used to, it was really comfy.

All the numb "parts" posts are too funny!
