I'm just across the Humber in Hull! You're welcome to add me!

Hi - are you weighing yourself everyday? If so stop! Weigh in once (or maybe twice) a week. You could be building muscle from all your gym work - which weighs much heavier that fat. Good luck xx

You look great - well done!

Because I have arthristis I find it almost impossible to exercise.(Also so I am a very senior citizen!) Added to this the weather has restricted my walking even to go to the shops. But I have lost weight by being very careful with my calorie intake. Almost 12 lbs since I joined MFP on 24th December (2012). I have a long…

Log it and forget it. We all slip up on an occasion.

We all slip occasionally - log it and carry on!

Well done - you look great!

You're looking too deeply into the science of weight loss. Relax and enjoy your success!

Aniyahsmommy - you haven't said how much weight you need to lose or where you live. In Britain your doctor's advice and nutritional advice would be free but there could be a cost for surgery (unles deemed to be necessary for your health). To help yourself be absolutely honest. Weigh your food very carefully, log in to MFP…

Once a week - first thing in the morning. Also a good idea to find a skirt or other piece of clothing that is tight on the waist-band - if it becomes slacker you are losing weight!

I am 78 next month and have lost 10 lbs since Christmas Eve. You're never too old to try! I need to lose 70 lbs in total. You've done the right thing joining MFP!

I never smoked! Always said I was too greedy to spend money that was just being burned - but I did have four kids to feed and clothe!!!

Amazing - well done!

Hi Rose, welcome! I joined on 24th December 2012 - yes Christmas Eve! So far I've lost 6lbs. Set youself small targets of say 10lbs at a time - much better than aiming for the total loss you want to acheive in the end! In the past I have joined the usual sliming groups without much success - this time I WILL SUCCEED!

I have porridge almost every morning using 30 grams of oats, 100 ml semi-skimmed milk and either 15 grams raisins or dried cranberries. I also add a teaspoon of honey. Around 300 calories. This is plenty for me - I couldn't any more! My calorie allowance is 1200 - as I am older and have arthritis so exercise is difficult…

Thank you - I know what to do now!

I too attended WW and SW for many years without much success. As I am no longer able or prepared to pay the membership fees I joined myfitnesspal and in the two weeks since I joined have lost 6lbs! I joined on 24th December 2012 so that two weeks include Christmas!

I agree to some extent. My beginning was Christmas Eve! (2012) and I lost 2lbs by New Year! But if you have "fallen by the wayside" during the festive season it can be hard to get back so a "new beginning" can be an incentive. As of today (6th Juanuary) I have lost 6lbs and as a life long dieter that is excellent for me!

I'm a new member too and am also looking for moral support. I lie in Hull so at least we are in the same county!
