  • A food scale is an awesome tool. I use to just grab the whole bag of chips because measuring a serving would be depressing (in my biased mind). Then I started weighing my food and all the sudden, I found most servings were satisfying. Second thing, not logging something because I am ashamed I ate eat doesn’t mean it didn’t…
  • I craft sometimes. (Keeps my hands busy). Trust me- it isn’t anything cool or sellable, but it helps a lot. I will eat frozen veggies- hand mouth thing. It is cold and crunchy so I do not eat a lot of them. Frozen peas are better than most expect. My kids prefer them that way.
  • When I weigh daily, I stay in track. I think it is because I don’t stress when it fluctuates and I see my trends. When I weigh weekly, I fall off the wagon
  • I will be doing the alcohol diet...actually I have been doing it....not working so welll. Damn!!
  • https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/80938-how-do-i-add-a-food-to-my-food-diary- Depends on what type of device you are using. Items with check marks are verified so try to use those.
  • Why drink it if you hate it? That makes sad.
  • So I should be drinking wine in the morning and not coffee? Awesome!
  • Be honest in logging- you ate a whole pizza, log a whole pizza
  • A lot of people have experienced it. I think that is why we are on these forums. Talking family/friends sometimes sucks. If she asks, then talk about it, but otherwise focus on the other areas you have in common. It isn't you. Plus, I think people want to make losing weight easy for others but impossible for them...make…

  • I changed the settings to say my Fitbit is in my dominant hand (though it isn't). Makes it less sensitive to movement and feels more accurate to me. I would rather under count rather than over count.
  • I didn't like WW- even though they say no food is "bad", they make the points so high, it feels "bad". The meetings felt weird to me. And the app wasn't user friendly and not extensive. MFP just makes sense to my brain.
  • Anyone can add me. 210
  • I pre-log my candy. I love conversation hearts and can easily eat a huge bag. I put them in snack bags and then put them up high. I can't have a box/bag with me or I will mindlessly eat.
  • I love my flex (minus that it is kind of ugly). I walk long distances (up to 20 miles on some days). I love tracking my TDEE on it as well as a nice reminder to walk more at work. When I get in the weight loss mode, it helps me. Have had it a couple of years (first a One and now Flex).
  • MFP over calculates calorie burn from what many users say. I keep the Fitbit count as I prefer to underestimate rather than overestimate as I eat calories back for exercise.
  • Daily- 1) I like numbers and tracking them, 2) keeps on track. If don't, I tend to fall of the wagon.
  • I have a Fitbit flex- I like it. I walk a lot so very useful to me. I find it tracks my data well. Water resistant so you can wear in shower or while swimming, but won't track your swimming. I know they have HRM fitbits now, but I haven't heard how well the work yet for non-walking exercise.
  • When I started (and now restarting)- I weighed (with a cheap Walmart digital scale) all of my food. I began to learn what a serving was. Chips- I was happy with just a serving usually. Cheese- I was eating 3-4 times more than I thought a serving was! Creamer in coffee (like 150 calories a day). I made small adjustments to…
  • Cheese was a huge eye opener for me! I was probably eating 3x the serving size. I can now usually do exactly one serving slices now (still weigh to be sure though- feels good to be right)
  • I like the Fitbit aria. Since it posts directly to my Fitbit app, I can't lie or pretend that weigh/in didn't happen!
  • Please feel free to add me as a friend. I am also a military wife with my husband gone for two months (I moved early with my two kids to set up household and find work). It is hard with a 2 and 4 year old, plus stress, and being lonely. But it is all excuses (for me). I am doing my second 60 mile walk in September and want…
  • I make a normal meal- I eat my portion and they their portion (2 year old and 4 year old). Just like I tell them I won't make them special food, I don't do the same. We all eat dinner together. Last night, I left off the Mac and cheese on mine. I won't eat a roll. I eat small portions. You don't need to eat special food-…
  • Anytime I eat breakfast (which is rare cause I don't enjoy it much), it is a crazy high amount! Maybe it is because I love butter on my carbs :-). I love make a butter taco with my pancakes!
  • I look at the week for my calories - try to stay within the allowance, but as long as I hit my weekly average, I am good with that. So if I am under one day by 200, but over 200 another day, i don't stress. Once a week is over I start the average over.
  • The thing I found out when it began measuring- I was way off in both directions. I never measured chips because I was just certain it would be so small. So I would grab the bag and eat it all. The first time I measured I was shocked on how much I got to eat. Totally changed my view. Then I weighed cheese- holy cow does…
  • Shredded tyson chicken is nice- just grab a handful to throw into your food. I try to make my own, but I use this a lot to add to other meals or when really busy.
  • Per logging helps me- I will plan that "bad" food. Often I end up not ordering a full meal. I don't like fries and don't need a huge soda (just drink a small can when I get home). I usually get them just because it is a "value" meal. Now I just get what I want. I love KFC, but I just get a small meal. It is prelogged so no…
  • No we all eat what I make. My husband will add cheese or other calorie dense snacks. Frankly, I am I charge of dinner for him- he is responsible for making sure he hits his goals. I will buy the good, but I am not going to cook all day for him. Sounds mean, but he is fine with it :-).
  • Should be able to do it under settings or goals. Set you goal weight to your current weight and it pops up to maintain (when I did it). Congrats on the pregnancy- my first took three years with two years of fertility treatment. Strangely my second took one month without intervention! I tell you- the human body is odd!
  • Half of the money goes to charity (only $10 per person). It can't hurt- my husband and I compete with fitbit, but just for bragging rights :-). I am not a super competitive person so I think it will be motivating.
