Hi I need some advise on syncing my fitbit to this account.
It is to do with exercise I am doing.
I play basketball and when I am tracking via fitbit it counts my steps and calories but I do not think it counts it correctly as it states for example 300 calories but when I put it in this app as a basketball cardiovascular activity it puts it at 700 calories which I think is correct but by doing that it will double record both activities. Would I be best off by just using the fitbit only? If anyone has any ideas would appreciate it. Many thanks.

MFP over calculates calorie burn from what many users say. I keep the Fitbit count as I prefer to underestimate rather than overestimate as I eat calories back for exercise.0

It won't double record if you log something here. MFP will send your logged exercise to Fitbit and the logged workout will replace whatever Fitbit thought you burned for the time and duration you log.

Connect your accounts at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit
Set your goal to .5 lb. for every 25 lbs. you're overweight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided
Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal and follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments. No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both. Exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time.

Thank you all for your comments/Video and time taken to reply back to me. Appreciate it
I shall digest this information and start to play with them both.
Does anyone have a preference on where they save their activity? Fitbit or MFP? Personally I am saving in MFP but that may not be the right thing to do.

Shadow2Soul - One thing I have noiticed is I have the fitbit Charge HR.
When i press the timer to record my timings it will automatically record that as fitness, and also it will import MFP records to fitbit. All I have to do is then delete that fitbit entry off my records, but that is a fitbit thing rather than a MFP issue. I find the through doing various tests, the Charge HR seems to be pretty accurate in recording and I especially like the heart burn usage on it.0 -

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), and exercise logged in MFP overwrites your Fitbit burn during that time. So I log exercise in Fitbit—never MFP.
If you want your Fitbit exercise to appear in your newsfeed, post a status update.0
