Found this by following the Help link in the top banner of the web page:
https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/en/portal/articles/372432-how-do-i-get-started-using-the-website-
Scroll down to the section labeled, Adding Food to Your Diary.
Also, if you click on the linked BBCode in "You can use BBCode in your post," it takes you to the wikipedia article that explains BBCode.
Hope this helps!0 -

what do you mean you cant get a food list or food diary? the site doesnt plan your meals for you. you weigh your food, find it in the database, enter it in your diary and there ya go. as you use it, the foods you use frequently will appear in a list that you can select from without having to search for it1

Depends on what type of device you are using. Items with check marks are verified so try to use those.1 -
callsitlikeiseeit....I'm not looking for the site to "plan" meals for me. I can find the food in the data base, what I was saying is it doesn't land in "my diary". I can plan my own meals, I just have to keep going to the "data base. Thank you for your help though I appreciate it. I am doing this on my home computer.

Database has been screwy today, presumably a heavy load due to the new year.1

Click at the top of the page where it says "Food". That takes you to your diary. Under one of the listed meals, click "Add food". That takes you to the food database, where you can search for what you want to add. Click on the entry you want to use and fill in the serving size and number of servings, then click "Add Food to Diary". Done.0
