  • As you can see you're not alone...this happens to everyone who starts to get healthier eating habits. I used to enjoy the occasional bout of fast food but now I can't come within a light year of the stuff or I stay sick for three days. But I'd definitely go with trying to make your favorite "bad" foods in a healthier way…
  • Even Cobra Kai approves of this post.
  • This is irrelevant to the discussion, but since I just staggered back from a Moksha yoga class, I thought I'd say: I love your picture.
  • This is a rant but what's wrong with that? My definition of clean eating means avoiding foods which have been "tampered with" chemically. Tampering with foods in other ways (cooking, slicing, etc.) is not what I consider a process. A package of carrots grown organically is not processed because nothing unnatural has been…
  • If you are in an exclusive relationship, and you create the impression in a third party's mind that they can sleep with you if they really try, that's when you've taken flirting into cheating territory -- even if you haven't physically cheated. It shows the same level of disrespect to your own partner.
  • Do you think you might be gaining muscle? Muscle weighs x4 times as much as fat. When you lift a lot, you gain muscle, so even if you're losing fat you may be gaining weight. That's not a bad thing...maybe shift to doing body fat & body measurements instead of concentrating on the scale.
  • My problem right now is that work is interfering with my schedule because of the crazy hours. So I'm trying to maintain until things calm down...and then jump onto a new goal. I'm just weighing the options and seeing what works for others. Right now I'm torn between muscle building and toning up.
  • I totally agree. I don't eat much sugar and most of what I do comes from fruit and not processed stuff, yet one apple and I'm halfway to my limit. I've started differentiating between "natural" and "unnatural" (for lack of a better word) sugars. Still, it's good to know what you're eating so you don't go too crazy.
  • I just turned 40 last August so I can relate.
  • Rack! Also shape of face.
  • Ladies, keep in mind that it's not the number of pounds, it's the PERCENTAGE that actually matters. if your husband was 297, for him to lose 2.97 pounds is only 1% of his total body weight. If you weighed, say 190, and lost the same amount of weight, your percentage of loss would still be far higher than his. Of course, if…
  • That's a huge accomplishment and you should be enormously proud.
  • What does your body look like? Muscle weighs x4 times as much as fat. If your body is improving but you aren't losing weight, it could be that you've burned away fat but gained muscle. A better test might be a skinfold or a BMI or something which isn't strictly related to the scale. (I have the same problem, incidentally)
  • The future me has more hair than the present me. Score!
  • Whenever people make a major lifestyle change, they instantly discover who is really in their corner and who is not. You see, people who are overweight or drink heavily or do drugs etc. etc. generally hang with their own "kind." Once one of them decides to lose weight, quit drinking, stop smoking dope, etc., the others…
  • After working out and altering my diet for a year and a half, I saw video of myself taken last December...and I STILL LOOKED LIKE ****! I knew then that at my age (40) you can't just do what always worked for you "then", you have to take it to another level. I did. No looking back.
  • Feel free to add me. I've been on here 90+ days in a row but only in the last week or so have I added any friends or posted anything, so I'm doing the same thing as you.
  • Oh I agree...in fact I'd go so far as to say that in TKD at least, you don't really even START until you hit the black belt level Like my instructor says, black belt isn't an end point, it's a turning point. It's not like I was suddenly more dangerous the day after the test than I'd been the day before. Maybe I fell into…
  • Not really sure. Maybe it's the routine, you know, three times a week. Or maybe I kinda peaked with the black belt, just a mental thing? Not having trouble exercising but having trouble getting fired up for it.
  • I do hot yoga (moksha) and it is not painful at all, not even a little bit, even though as a workout it is about as intense as anything I've ever done in my life. The heat loosens up the muscles and tendons and makes the poses pain-free if still hard as hell. I'm 40 and have tight hamstrings, and if I did "cold" yoga I'd…
  • I'd just like to say I strongly support this thread. :flowerforyou:
  • Yes, please. :drinker:
  • I'm game dude send me an invite, just started adding friends myself...everyone else here is welcome to as well. :drinker:

  • Hey man, feel free to add me, I'm also a longtime martial artist and have also dropped 15 since I went on this site, though I also have to credit Fitbit...anyway congrats on the weight loss and good luck with the training.
  • Negative! They are probably just your weak area...no worries, they are also mine. The thing is to discover what point at which the little *kitten* come out to play. For years and years, I always thought a good weight for me was 192 pounds. After getting up to 205, I hit this weight again 4 months ago but looked…
  • Honestly, losing the sheath of fat over the abs is more important than the exercise. Remember that you have perfectly defined muscles everywhere on your body...they're just not necessarily visible because of what is over them. You can work the hell out of your abs, but if you're carrying too much flab, all you'll get is…
  • What gym do you go to?
  • Do you know where in town you're going to live?
  • It's not in the Valley but I'm big on Malibu Creek State Park...there are a lot of different trails to choose from and if you go during the week it is DEAD so you can get real peace and quiet...a rarity in this town. If you're into Hollywood history it is where they shot a lot of old movies and TV shows (it used to be the…
  • I just had swai tonight for the first time ever. I pan cooked it it in a little light olive oil mixed with sea salt and a bourbon rub and lemon juice and served it over rice and steamed vegetables. Not bad, and an easy and fast meal to cook (fish cooks in a pan at super speed). Granted you have to go heavy on the seasoning…
