I have been working closely with my chiropractor and he’s encouraged me to get back to lifting. I’ve noticed a lot of doctors have the mentality of “if you’ve ever hurt yourself doing something, never do it again.” Which I think is the wrong attitude. That’s why I’m looking at alternatives to exercises that I worry may…

Thanks for the replies. I'm not saying I'm disregarding my dr's advice. I get it, I have tendonitis and it's a result of poor form from a novice starting to lift. That's why I think if I get back into it I'll find someone who knows what they're doing to teach me the right way. But with all the doctors I've seen, and that's…

I am 5'2". Currently 117 lbs. Don't necessarily have a goal weight in mind. I'm just taking it a month at a time and seeing how I feel. Trying to focus on lowering body fat percentage more than weight. Quick version of my story is that after suffering knee pain and going undiagnosed for two years I got very depressed and…

Congratulations! I'm doing the same thing. Tracking macros and have just lost 5 lbs in January. My fat percentage tester showed me down about 2-2.5 percent meaning most of mine was body fat. Plus I'm lifting and increasing weight so I'm not worried that I've lost muscle. Keep it up!

I'll have a Coke Zero if I'm out to eat or something, but I don't keep them at home. I used to be addicted to Dr Pepper, drinking about 3 a day.

I count macros and weightlift 4 days a week. I also try to make it my goal to drink a minimum of 64 oz water a day. This is something I can see myself doing long term and building even better habits off of. I started January 1 and haven't weighed since then, but I definitely notice my clothes being loser and feel more…

I'm at 135g carbs, 38g fat, and 118g protein.

I do the IIFYM (if it fits your macros) style of eating. So I can have whatever I want, but it has to fit my macros. That doesn't mean I can have donuts every morning because that would completely eat up (slight pun intended) my carbs and fat macros, but if I really want something or I'm going out later, I can usually fit…

I'm actually having a bowl of the mint chip right now! I like it. I'd absolutely rather have regular ice cream, but I do enjoy this after a long hard day of dieting. It's best of you let it thaw a tad before eating it. It's creamier and more like regular ice cream then.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I guess we all start somewhere. And just like when I originally lost weight, I knew it was going to be hard and take a long time, but every good day was a step closer to where I wanted to be. So I suppose that means every good lift is a step closer to where I want to be. I am taking…

I'm not really doing resolutions, but what I'm calling my January Challenge, taking it month by month. Hopefully if I can meet my goals for January it will be an encouragement to continue into February and so on. So my goals are: Stick to my calories and macro's, tracking consistently. Stick to my weightlifting routine at…

Thanks for all of the encouraging responses. I've gone swimming 3 times this week and really am enjoying it. I feel stronger already. I don't have that much weight to lose, maybe 10 lbs, but really hoping this will help get rid of that and tone me up a bit at the same time. So how does it work your abs? That's one thing I…

I'm a bit OCD, so I ended up doing 30 small forward circles to the sides, then 30 medium, then 30 large. Then I did 30 small, medium, and large to the sides backwards. Then I did 30 small, medium, and large in front of me forward, then the same thing backwards. I think that was like 360. Thanks for the motivation to…

Does NROL require a lot of weights and gear or gym membership? I've been wanting to check it out, but for the foreseeable future I'm stuck in my living room with a yoga mat, dumbells and body weight. Just don't want to buy it and find that most of it is inapplicable to my situation.

Thanks so much! The first week I gained a pound, and now I've lost it again, so I'll keep on doing what I'm doing and see how it progresses. I will say as sold as I was that this is the right thing for my body, I couldn't help but be concerned and pessimistic, but you know what? In deciding to eat more I feel like a weight…

When I get to goal, which is a roundabout number for weight, but for me goal is feeling confident in my body and having some muscle tone, I plan to get a tattoo I've been wanting. It's the perfect way to pace myself and make sure I still want it by then.

For now 2 hours of that time is weights at home with body weight or 8lb dumbells. An hour and a half a week is running.

I'd like to join too.

Question, is it YOU specifically that's under a physicians care? Or your husband. Because you started out this post saying that you eat the way you do in support of your husband who has Celiac's and type 1 diabetes. I am ALL for you supporting your husband, but you have to take care of you too. Studies show that there is…

So would body weight and 8 lb dumbells be enough to change my body? Or will I not see much toning until raising the weight?
-
Yeah, I get that BMR is the minimum for my body to function and tdee is what my body burns in a day typically. So I took I think 15-20% off that and that's what gave me the 1693 on scooby. I'm gonna see what happens at 1650 calories for a while I guess. I'm still really confused when we get down to the details.
-
Then I also looked at the http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ site and it's telling me I should be having 1693! So very confused!
-
Ok, I figured out how to do the spreadsheet and I put my info into the simple set up. However it's telling me I should be having 1386 calories to lose weight? I feel like that's still too low, I'm already at 1300. I feel like I just can't make sense of most of the information in the sheet and I'm getting frustrated. Would…

How do I use that spreadsheet? It opens as a view only file.
