It could be from many different things. Have you been to a specialty shoe store and got properly fitted for shoes? If so, too many miles too fast (intensity increase), or just running to hard and fast. People that I have helped in the past were running waaayyyyy to fast for their fitness levels, then getting hurt and…

It will get easier, and consistency is the best way to make it easier, faster. The run/walk is just fine. I know a lot of people that use that technique to increase their time/mileage. Keep going!

Looking good brother. Adding you.

Three years ago I wasn't a runner either. I made tons of mistakes and it was painful and slow going. Now I am a runner. It's my passion and I run about 200 miles a month. Start slowly. If you are out of breath SLOW down. Almost everyone that tries running and hates it or quits is running too fast. Even experienced runners…

Protein for sure. It's crucial for muscle recovery.

I have a serious issue with this. He flipped you off, but what will the owner do when I smash a rock on a dog's head for chasing me? I was cornered by a pit bull just the other day. I threatened it with a huge rock the size of a shoe and it backed off but I wouldn't have hesitated to defend myself regardless of an idiot…

Actually trained for 14 weeks for a traditional marathon, then decided 30 days out to run the ultra. After that I changed training for the last 30 days, focusing on back to back days of long runs on the weekend. Ultras are about "time on feet" more than just running. Lots of trail work (but not enough), and long runs 16-20…

I've lost 62 pounds and Coke Zero is my favorite drink. I don't drink it as much as I used to, but I may have 1 or 2 on some days. It's all about moderation.

Every once in awhile I want something sweet, but I crave salty. I could eat chips all day. Without stopping. Seriously.

Haters. People always want to hate when people try to improve. People love train wrecks, they love failure. I have same issue. They make fun of me everyday with their comments. I just call them haters and luckily I can tell them to go "F" themselves at this job. It's funny though... they used to laugh at me when I was the…

Figure it out now during your long runs. Pasta leading up does nothing for me, I prefer pizza. As far as morning of the run, something light, maybe a bagel (plain), or a banana (postassium). The during the run refueling is all dependent on gastro. So many people have issues with different gels and things like that.…

6 miles yesterday, 3.6 tonight.

This. No yeast. Self rising. Made like in the old, old days. Love Ezekial bread. You have to keep it refrigerated. It has no preservatives and will mold quickly if left out.

blue agave syrup!! Low glycemic and super sweet (don't need much).

You have to ease into them. Get used to wearing them just walking around for a month or so. I have Vibram 5 fingers and love running in them. They will lock up your calves if you don't slowly work your way up to running in them. They make you run more natural, and almost completely reduce heel strike which cushioned shoes…

Most days I don't worry to much about them except for sugar. The only time they become important to me is during my tough workouts (long runs over 10 miles), or at race time, where I bump up my carbs to make sure I top off the glycogen stores for races. Other than that I don't worry too much about them. As far as hunger,…

Got 5 in late last night to start May off right!

I'm down!! 150 miles!

Not most of the time. If I'm hungry it's 1/2 banana, and some G2 gatorade 20 minutes prior.

I've lost 58 pounds and always get in a lot of protein. Whether through food or shakes. For my strength training I always have a shake. 200 calories at a time for 22G's of Protein (BSN protein). I fit it into my calories though.... I'm also a runner (120-150 miles a month), so I use a pre-workout before running (NO Xplode,…

I run anywhere from 120-150 miles a month. Those C25k programs are great, but everyone is different and has a differing starting fitness level. The mistake most new runners make is running too fast. You should run at a pace that you can carry on a conversation and not be too worried if that translates to a 10-12…

Remember that some of those "fit, in shape people" used to be overweight themselves. I have always admired people that had the guts to get in there and give it all they have, and most of those fit people are very supportive types when it comes to that. It's all about trying. That's inspiring to many people regardless of…

You will be fine. If you have logged the miles the race will be fun and easy. Most people do better on race day just due to the anticipation and adrenaline of really just being out there. Most people also find that it's harder to run on a treadmill and that the road feels much easier. I am one of those. If I do a 7 mile…

For those of you hesitant to enter and run a race, let me tell you something. I run marathons, half marathons, 10k's, and 5k's and do look athletic and look like a runner. I also do not EVER judge someone on how they look. The running community is very tight and you will see every kind of person at these races. From kids…

I'm here every day too. Add me or I will add you!

I'm a running addict too brother. See you around on here!!

Definitely some good information in there. I don't even consider it a journey. It's a lifestyle change that has to continue the rest of your life. It's not a temporary fix. When I say "diet" around people they automatically assume I'm trying to lose more weight and am on some crazy plan, when I mean my literal…
