Macros and Hunger

Okay so this is kind of a two-sided post. First, I just added sodium and sugar to my food tracking so I can see how they are doing. I am actually doing awesome with my sodium, coming in under most days. My sugar I am always over. Like today...I have had two things for breakfast and I have 1 sugar left for the entire day???
How often do you hit your macros and how important is it? I mostly watch my calories, make sure I get my protein (even going over is fine to me), and my fat.
Second part of the post....how do you deal with hunger pains? I have just eaten breakfast and I am feeling what I think are hunger pains in the top of my stomach. I am drinking water and hoping it calms down. This week I have had these pains off and on more frequently than before. Any suggestions? Do I really need to eat more and how do I do that and stay in my allotted calories? My diary is public if you want to take a look.

Most days I don't worry to much about them except for sugar. The only time they become important to me is during my tough workouts (long runs over 10 miles), or at race time, where I bump up my carbs to make sure I top off the glycogen stores for races. Other than that I don't worry too much about them.
As far as hunger, more protein, especially in the morning helps curb hunger feelings for me. Also staying away from Coke Zero. I love my Coke Zero every once in awhile, but when I drink it (although it has artificial sweeteners), it makes me hungry like crazy. I drink water like crazy too, that helps with hunger as well. At least for me.0 -
I watch my carbs and fibre. If I'm over on my carbs by the same amount in fibre I don't count that as over. I also aim to get my protein and the fat defaults to whatevers left afterwards. I meet most of my macros often enough that I don't worry about it.0

regarding hunger
Some days, I also find that about 2-3 hours after breakfast I am somehow ravenous, no matter what, or how much, I have eaten. It's almost as if my breakfast has kicked my metabolism into super overdrive. Water is a great place to start, but if that does not work, you may want to to try adding a small morning or mid-morning snack into your daily calories.0 -
I looked at a few days of your food diary and noticed that many of the items were what I would call "energy dense" - a significant number of calories in a relatively small package. You may have fewer hunger issues if you add some foods that are heavy in water and relatively low calorie - most of the non-starchy vegetables fall into this group and it really doesn't matter if you eat them raw or cooked, as long as you don't pile on a bunch of salad dressing, dip or sauce. Options include lettuce, celery, broccoli, cauliflower and at a higher calorie level, but still helpful fibre levels, the various sorts of beans from dried beans - navy beans, chick peas, kidney beans, pinto beans, etc (watch for sodium levels and sometimes added fat in canned dried beans). Soup (preferably a reduced sodium variety) can also help if it is mostly packed with healthy vegetables (and yes, you can have soup for any meal or snack)0

If I have a good amount of fruits and maybe a Naked Juice, I'm always over my sugar. But I'm also not having bad sugar. I'm having natural sugar. I never go over my sodium. I sometimes go over my protein, but usually only by 1 or 2. For my vitamin C, I almost always go over and by like 200 or so.
But I'm still losing weight.0 -
Thanks everyone!!0
