Any runners?

I have registered for my first 5k in July. I started out using the C25K app and got to about week 5. I feel like I can do more then what the app is requiring so I have been just running. I ran my first full mile outside on Friday.

Just wondering if there are any runners...of any level? I consider myself a beginner and any advice would be great. It seems I stop running due to shortness of breath and not pain. I'm good at doing the rhythmic 2:2 breathing, but I just feel like my throat is closing off about 10 min into a run.

I run anywhere from 120-150 miles a month. Those C25k programs are great, but everyone is different and has a differing starting fitness level. The mistake most new runners make is running too fast.

You should run at a pace that you can carry on a conversation and not be too worried if that translates to a 10-12 minute/mile pace. Do not concern yourself with time at all in the beginning. Focus on finishing the workouts.

Any running training plan builds you up with cumulative fatigue. You shouldn't be overdoing any single day on the plan with longer than called for mileage or too much speed because you will be depleted as the week goes on, which can cause many people to either give up, or the hardheaded ones to push through and get injured.
