My husband & I took a six mile hike on Sunday and I was wearing a daypack with lots of water in it. Great exercise, particularly as we are preparing for some serious…
  • Starting challenge weight: 182 lb Oct 31st goal weight: 173 Weigh in will be Tuesdays August 3: 182 lb August 10: 181 lb A pound a week feels painfully slow when I’m sticking to my health plan, but in reality, I lose more like 3/4ths of a pound a week (on average) so I know this is a realistic and maintainable loss for me.…
  • I’m new to a challenge like this. I look forward to participating as it may be an added bit of accountability and encouragement in my current progress. • Great thread - I see several kinds listed here that I haven't tried yet. Yay! I don't like plain water so I have been brewing a LOT of tea to get my water in. My husband surprised me this Christmas with a Teavana tea set as well as the gravity brewer and 4 teas. I have found that I LOVE their Matevana. I didn't think I'd…
  • I like doubledoufa's suggestions. Printing those out now. : ) I enjoy making low carb pizza (it isn't exactly like pizza since the "crust" is mostly egg and cheese, but it tastes really good - even my teenagers enjoy it and it smells great). Drawback is that it takes awhile to make, but if you make one the night before, it…
  • I think the biggest "hidden" sugar is found in simple carbohydrates. For me, this translates into reducing how much bread and pasta I eat (since these simple carbohydrates convert to sugar during digestion). I'm trying to substitute vegetables as much as possible for pasta; for sandwiches I try to eat them open face so I…
  • I agree wholeheartedly with this. I was consistently losing but then I went into a plateau, then I got discouraged, and now I've started to gradually gain. :embarassed: I canNOT go back to the old me. I need to remember that a plateau is not the end of the world; it does not wipe out what I have accomplished. I've actually…
  • Awesome progress for BOTH of you!! Great job & keep up the encouragement!

  • A very powerful message. Thank you for sharing this.
  • Ah, a topic that hits close to home for me... : ) I like 1 Tablespoon of Nestle' semisweet chocolate chips with 1/3 cup of pecans (this is my "go to" when I'm craving chocolate chip cookies). I also do protein shakes (I've been using one I buy at Target: Pure Protein 100% Whey Protein Frosty chocolate flavor made with…
  • This is awesome! I'm so happy for you. To literally go from opposite ends of the belt notch spectrum is a truly awesome thing. Just using that you should be able to pretty accurately figure how many inches you've lost in addition to pounds. Congratulations!
  • I note that it says you joined in June 2011 and have lost 5 pounds. That is AWESOME! Don't give up. We can do this! : )
  • This is awesome. It makes a big difference when those we love notice the changes. Congratulations! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • I just add mine to my water. I do the same with green tea and white teas.
  • I'm not familiar with Michelle Bridges program, but I am watching my carbs. My instinct on this would be that if she is saying "no carbs" on an accelerator day then this would exclude your mixed beans and chip peas. I'd eat some nuts. Those have higher protein and "healthy" fats which help immensely at keeping hunger at…
  • How about contributing some nice fresh cut fruit? Strawberries, watermelon, some blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries? I know that a relish tray of carrots, celery, and broccoli is considered to be another picnic friendly item. I hope some of these suggestions help. Wishing you God's best!
  • It's funny how things look to ourselves in pictures that others see so differently. I can see a clear change in your abdomen and thighs. You are looking very good. Keep up your positive progress!
  • I've started low carbing and am finally losing weight. I don't pay attention to my fat or protein intake; I just try to keep my carbs between 50-100 grams a day and keep my calories around what MFP has figured for me each day. I'm finally losing at a steady rate and I'm really pleased. My biggest problem (and the one that…
  • Way to go! This is so awesome; thanks for sharing!
