71 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.

YIPPEE! I finally hit my 9/1 goal of under 200 lbs today, a few days late. 199.4 lbs! I'm down 55.6 lbs. 77.4 lbs to go to my UWG.15

Today I finally logged my food from morning to night. I was slightly under calories goal. But I am just happy I logged. One day at a time...10

I was reading up on menopause weight gain; seems it can be helped. The article says we need 200 calories less per day than we used to. Just two years ago, my stomach was pretty flat. Fast forward, through menopause, it's like a marshmallow in the middle.
I sometime think I need to "grow up" and eat healthy foods because that's what is good for my body long term. Instead of allowing myself daily snacks because "I deserve it."
I was at planet fitness and on the bathroom mirror , people put sticky notes with positive affirmations. The notes said "leave a message for someone" and take one home. I took home the one that said "Reshaping my life". What a clever idea!12 -

My name is Donna and I am 61 years old. I live in the Midwest of the USA. 5' 5" tall. My starting weight was 253. I have relapsed in the past year and need to get back on track. I am type 2 diabetic and in remission for breast cancer. Health is my #1 priority.
I would love to join! Here are my weights so far:

Aug 01: 191.4…..(trend weight 194.6) A nice way to start but it may not stick. Very little food yesterday due to an emergency with my well. No water again today. This is horrid!
Aug 03: 190.4…..(trend weight 193.7) A little topsy-turvy and moving all around. I am hopeful that August will be a good month. July was good to me.
Aug 10: 189.6 (trend weight 192.0) Progress. I hope the long travel day which will include at least one restaurant will not derail me too much.
Aug 17: 189.8 (trend weight 190.4) An overnight bump up but still trending down nicely. Today I will work on having a very good day even though, emotionally, things just couldn’t be worse. Biopsy results are still not in. Still no water. Well company is not responding to messages since yesterday. Plumber has stopped coming because prime on the well doesn’t last anyway for any serious length of time. I’ve lost my joy. My energy is zapped. Hugs are welcome! Prayers and good vibes are requested.
Aug 24: 187.4 (trend weight 188.6) Progress on the scale and with the other things I spoke of last week. The biopsy turned out non-cancerous although they did say that it could be a pre-cursor to a metastasized breast cancer to the skin in the future. That would be a nasty and very aggressive cancer with an extremely low survival rate. But I am focusing on the negative cancer (for now) results! Also, my water has been working for 4 days straight now. I am still very nervous about it because it is acting differently than before, but keeping the Faith…..! My exercise has slowed down a bit and my food choices have mainly remained within calorie but the choices are not always ideal. I must remember, it is not just about hitting my macros. It’s about overall health. I love all the stories and ideas that you all are sharing. It is so much more helpful than you think! Please don’t take for granted those little tidbits that are obvious to you. Sometimes it’s new to me or something I’ve forgotten. I appreciate your generous sharing! I’m getting ready to order a book someone mentioned on another challenge. It’s called “The Beck Diet Solution: Train your brain to think like a thin person” by Judith S. Beck. It was recommended by several people. I’ll let you all know how I like it,
Aug 31: 186.8 (trend weight 188.3) Up & Down all week with lots of travel but I ended with a 0.6 lb loss over last week so I’ll take it! Received my book but I haven’t started it yet. CT scans on liver and lungs are scheduled for Sept 9. University Hospital Cancer Center appointment for the skin on the breast area is Sept 16. I will see a breast surgeon and I have no idea what to expect. I am going to try hard not to eat my emotions and to stick to plan. Health is the #1 priority right now and losing weight will be a big part of that! Weight lost in August: 5.6 lbs.
Sept 01: 182.8 (trend weight 187.8) I find this weight hard to believe today. 4 pound loss overnight??? (After a 2.4 loss the day before???) My scale is reliable and I stepped on it 3 times but I don’t trust this and consider it a fluctuation. I did everything right. I had TM. I finally slept over 4 and ½ hours which is good for me> But that is a bit much. Traveling today and tomorrow. Plenty of sitting and restaurant food. I’ll be home each night and will keep up with the posts. Friday morning my scale reading will not be pretty but that is how I roll.
BTW I typed my August weight loss wrong yesterday on the entry above so I’ve corrected it today. I guess I’ll have to start using my calculator! Good luck to everyone in September!
Sept 07: 187.2 (trend weight 187.9) I knew that last week’s weight was a fluke. I could not have lost 6.4 pounds in just two days! Today I am at an inflated weight which is likely very real fat. I had a couple of days of travel, some medical worries, well problems with lack of water on many days and then a serious and horrific death in my extended family. Oh, and then there was the holiday. All excuses aside, I could have and should have done better anyway and I do know that eating my emotions only adds to my problems. Yesterday I pulled up my boot-straps and shook it up with a 1002 calorie day (I usually aim for 1400). I added in some extra exercise and I made pretty darn good choices in what I ate. It payed off on the scale. I’m hoping to do well this week and get back down even further. I think my last real weight was in the 185 range and I am up from that, even if I’m down overnight.

A half a pound lost this week. This is good since last week involved the visitation and funeral for my dad-in-law, as well as lots of gifts of food to graze on (including cookies and bars). It’s very difficult to resist. I’m not certain that I’ll be able to make it to my goal weight on October 31st, but any minor weight loss is a victory to cherish during these times. I’ll keep pressing on.
Thank you for the “hugs” and kind comments given last week regarding my FIL’s death as I continue to try to find new ways to cope with grief (that don’t include emotional eating of sugary foods).10 -

---Joining late, but I was on vacation from 8/1-8/11! And I managed to LOSE about 4 lbs!!! On vacation! I didn't think it possible, but honestly, after some reflection I realized it was simply because I didn't eat until I was hungry on my road trip. That's all!---
But I needed that win badly. I have been trying to lose weight since the start of the pandemic (where I weighed 148 lbs after dropping a lot the previous year), and instead I only crept up. And up and up! But this body survived a pandemic and I'm not going to say anything bad about it.
However, with this new boost of motivation from accidental weight loss, I have a fire lit within me again (FINALLY) to stay on this track! Even just 5 lbs down, my rings feel looser, my face feels less bloated, and I just over-all feel so much better. I can only imagine what losing the extra 40 lbs will do!
My goal for the end of October will put me back in the healthy weight range for my height. I felt FANTASTIC there last year and can not wait to be back. But my biggest motivation this time around is because in October, we are going to start trying for a baby.:)I want to go into that next phase of my life happy and healthy, not just for myself, but for a hopeful future growing baby too.
I feel more focused, ready, and at peace with what's to come now more than ever. I know what to do and what's expected of me, and I couldn't feel more ready for it.

I am officially the lowest weight I've been in 2021 and I couldn't be more thrilled! My eating hasn't been "perfect," but it's been good enough, and every day, I feel perfectly content with what I've been doing which gives me so much hope that I'm setting myself up for success long term.
My September goal felt so far-fetched to me, just to be in the 150s again, but now it feels super attainable. I am more pumped than ever to reach it!11 -

Ok I am very happy. Weight loss down. That's a good sign. I have been eating much less. Because I"m back to a work routine after summer off, it helps. I have been bringing two hard boiled eggs for breakfast; i eat them before the students come. Then, I have a few goldfish crackers around 10:30 am. And then a bowl of soup for lunch. These small changes probably saved me 200 calories.
I mentioned that I write goals on the calendar. Tomorrow, I'll do a 5K on a rugged trail - walking- and then eat a breakfast afterwards with my friend. That's one goal accomplished.11 -
I am watching the List show. The lady who wrote the book "Love yourself happy" is giving advice.
She said sometimes life just stinks! Surrender and settles into the hectic things, say "i will be ok. I will be alright."
I sometimes watch Tik Toks- lately the ones on my feed say it's important to raise your positive vibrations. I know that when I think negative, sad thoughts, I feel worse. During a tough time this week, I tried to "trick" my brain and started to say to myself. "I am happy. I am going to be ok. I will get over this." And it helped change my mood.
*disclaimer- this is very difficult to do with terrible situations. I'm referring to situations like a stressful day at work.8 -

Surprised that the numbers have gone down🤔I'm starting to think my digital scale is perhaps not that accurate?
I didn't check in during the week as I'm still not following program....not recording food or exercising consistently.
The pattern is I start off great Mondays(walked over 13,500 steps) then I lose myself during the week! Emotional eating - sugar/binges
Anyway decided to do a weigh in this morning after my walk and take measurements. I aim to stick to Wednesday check Ins!

Back to walking 40-60min at least ever other day.

8/28: This week decided I needed to switch things up, so I put the scale away and uploaded a pedometer to my phone. I'm waiting on a band to arrive so I can wear it. I'll share my step count next week.
9/04 Averaging 6,200 steps a day. Goal is to increase to 10,000 steps a day. I've also been consistent in getting in my workout routines. I have a doctors appointment Oct. 5th, so I'll hold off and weigh on that day.
9/11 Averaging 8,500 steps a day. Happy with the increase from last week. I never realized how much more energy being more active gives me.

I jogged the 5K this morning; I did really well! I couldn't jog every second because this race was in the forest - up steep trails and down steep trails. I was leaping over a log and rolled like a character on a video game. Rolled over my shoulder and hip and bounced back up and continued. So funny.
My time was 53 : 47 mins. But that was pretty good since I have not raced in two year and this was through the wild wilderness.
*I think I lost at least three pounds this morning. LOL I wish.10 -
I'm Michelle, 50. I started the year at 185, started the april challenge at 170, and am currently 164. My goal is 10,000 steps a day, swimming 3 times a week and to lose 2-3 pounds a month, so 6-9 pounds for the new challenge!

Think this week has just been bad, time to refocus to get back on track.Plus have been exercising so that has got to do with the weight going up with feeling bloated due to repair process, or not eating enough for that extra calories. I view every week to start a new.6 -
I've started thinking about my weight loss as I do with trying to have no alcohol, which are both important for my health goals. I say "one day at a time" for the alcohol and I've added the mantra "one pound at a time" for the weight loss. Instead of thinking, "I need to lose 30 lbs", I tell myself, "I need to lose 1 lb." Oh my goodness it just takes so much pressure off of me. And it actually helps me stick to my goals. If I'm at a restaurant and I want that cheeseburger and fries and the goal was 30 lbs I might say to myself, "well I've got so much to lose what difference does THIS meal make?" However if I just have to lose a lb I say to myself, "If I switch this out for a salad and a seltzer, surely I will meet that goal today or tomorrow!" I don't know.....it makes sense to me anyway. Whether we have 100 lbs to lose or 5, each one counts and a pound is a pound. Everyone here should be proud of taking this journey to better health. I'm glad to be along for the ride with you all.
