I'd use her negativity as inspiration & determination to prove the b!tch wrong. And come Christmas Cookie Swap 2016, when you're still keeping the weight off and feeling awesome about yourself - I'd dish it right back to her "Remember last year you told me that I'd just gain it all back & more? Thanks for the…

Today I plugged in the wrong route on my phone and ran 11 km instead of the 10 km I intended. Considering I hadn't run more than 8.5 km up to this point of my training, it was a test of stubbornity. (I know it's not a real word but it's most apt). I got light-headed a couple of times but I did not die!

MFP SW: 239.8 CSW: 171.4 CW: 167 CGW: 159 UGW: 155 Great work everyone!

marking my space to read this later.

I fell off the wagon too, and regained 45 lbs (of which I've since re-lost 33). The second time around, MFP alone wasn't enough incentive. And then somebody told me about DietBet, and I got my motivation back! I'm too stubborn/cheap/competitive to allow myself to fail & throw my money away. So I'm using both…

I started at 240 lbs and 5'8". I'm currently 175 lbs and still 5'8". ;) My goal is 155 lbs. When you are standing at the bottom of the hill and looking up at the mountain of 80+ lbs to lose, it looks to be impossible. It's not. You simply have to want it badly enough. What worked for me: Set smaller goals. I broke my…

I usually gain 3-4 lbs. Then I spend a day peeing every 5 minutes, and drop down to a new "lowest" weight.

Marking this thread so I can figure this out later when I'm not at work.

I just got a vivosmart. I'm on day 3 and still trying to figure it out.

Pick one thing you want to change, set a realistic goal, develop a timeline and plan, and then execute it. I'd start with the fitness rut first, as that's easier to change than "life" (which is kinda…everything). Maybe it's to run a 5K, or take up rock climbing, or play hockey - you can do all or any of these, right now.…

Try slowing down, and then just keep repeating W5D3 until you get it. Hang in there!

Daily, but I track my progress to the week prior. Much more successful at seeing a downward trend that way.

I feel your pain; I've been hovering around 183 for the past month. Hang in there, it WILL drop. In the interim, you may notice your body shifting around. At least, that's what happens to me, and it's a precursor to a big drop coming.

I'm 5'8" and my goal weight is 155. I'd settle for 157. That would put me in a size 10/12. My BMI range is 120-165. 10 years ago I did a crazy crash diet and starved myself down to 150 lbs (the diet clinic wanted me to keep losing another 10 lbs). I HATED my body as I had no curves and looked like a stick figure 12 year…

What do you get when you multiply six by nine? Exactly!

I get where you're coming from. Changing habits is hard at first. Counting calories is tedious, and disheartening when you realize you've hit your daily goal by lunch, and you're either going to fail the day, or be really hungry in the evening. So why even bother if you can't do it perfectly, right? This is not a winning…

I've been asked the same question more times than I can count. It hurts each & every time. Especially because I so wanted kids and was unable to have any. Anyways, I had a stock reply for those idiots insensitive enough to ask such a dangerous question: Look them dead in the eye and say "No, I'm just fat". 99% of the time,…

This salad is great, decently healthy, and holds up to a day or two in a cooler. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/quinoa-tabbouleh-395939

I'm downtown too. I've been commuting on my bike as much as possible, to get ready for 5X week when the Pan Am HOV lanes hit. Which is Monday. Next week will be…interesting.

I KNOW! Some days, 4-5 drinks is…breakfast. Lol!

Your food diary shows logging only for the past 10 days. So, I have a question - How often do you drink more than 2 drinks in a day? I realize Sunday was Father's Day, and could be why you logged 8 PBRs. However, your body will burn the booze calories before it will burn the stored fat. If you're consistently binge*…

I log during my vacations. Still, I often do go over my calories, but it's at least an informed, conscious decision. I've found that I moderate myself way better than if I don't log at all, and the slight moderation doesn't really diminish my enjoyment factor. Because really, once it's 2 am and you're 10 beers in, you…

I just snorted coffee. Ow! And I somewhat agree - there is a definitely a sweet spot of sufficient hydration in drinking beer. It's just too bad about all the calories that come with it.

Another vote for circuit training.

This happened to me one summer. I was burning a ton of calories through exercise so I could drink a significant portion of them back. I thought it would be the same as eating a portion of them back and that I'd continue to lose weight as I was still at a deficit. Boy was I wrong. I pretty much plateaued for that entire…

I've been here since Jan 2013. Was doing really well up until a year ago when I had a setback, and regained half of what I had lost. Back at it again and would like some new friends to keep motivated with together. Many of those I started with have dropped off/lost their enthusiasm.

One hour for exercise is only 4% of your day.

Julia, if you figure it out let me know. I started MFP in Jan 2013 at 240. Worked hard to get down to 162 by May 2014. Then *kitten* hit the fan in my life, my diet & exercise plan went off the rails and I gained 40 lbs back. Just restarted 5 weeks ago at 210 lbs and I'm down to 197 as of this morning. What works best for…

Depending on my mood and relationship with that particular in-law, my response could go one of two ways. Sarcastic or calling her out. Because the bar is too full of drunks. Call over my spouse: "Honey, come here you won't believe what your mother just said. MIL, could you repeat that please?" But then I don't tend to…
