  • Oh, Normy! There are words for handsome devils like you...and the words are not "handsome devils". ;-) On another note, my 22 yo daughter has been the DD for her friends so far this summer and I mentioned that must be kind of a drag. But she said, "Momma, I don't mind, I feel like crap after I drink, but dealing with their…
  • https://thesoberschool.com/ The Sober School just started a free summer workshop and it started today. It's doesn't seem like it will be every day videos like the Alcohol Experiment and there is downloadable workbook pages for the lessons. Not all of her stuff is free so this seems like a great resource.
  • Going to plug The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober again ;-) Catherine Gray talks about loving your self enough to say NO to situations where you know you will be triggered, it gets easier over time but initially she says you have to guard yourself. She has an extremely busy social life and definitely had to navigate some…
  • I love the AE. I am thinking of redoing it to keep all the info fresh in my head. It will be interesting to compare my thoughts today to those 6 months ago. Her FB group is really great, too, it's a closed group so your FB friends cannot see your posts. It is so encouraging, supportive and informative.
  • I am reading The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober by Catherine Gray. In it she lists AVRT as one of the important tools to use early early on, and it makes so much sense to me. I highly recommend this book. It hasn't had it's official release in the US (later this year) but I got it from Amazon, it just took a few weeks.
  • Back on dry land now so my goal is June 30th will be 36 consecutive days AF. Best wishes to all <3

  • @donimfp What a cute story! It made me smile imagining her face at the end. It's been a dry long holiday weekend for me :-) Lots of iced tea and iced coffee, though, and I've relaxed my normal carb count to allow for some fun bbq foods. Hope you are all doing well <3
  • Well, gang, I have a super positive to report! Since January 20th, when I began stringing AF weeks together, I have lost 15 pounds! I have followed a mostly keto diet for the last 10+ years and I knew the wine was the issue, I just didn't have the desire to leave it behind. SO! Another thank you to @JulieAL1969 for this…
  • I'm back on Day 9. It's so funny to me that I don't even care to have a drink and then BAM! I am downright angry that I "can't" so I storm over to the wine aisle and there goes 2 days. I feel just like a spoiled child who has been told no to something. I will say it's easier to get back to AF than it was in January, when I…
  • @Alzzi76 you did really great! Especially with the daughter situation, it was one of those things you could have made yourself reason out since it was a gift. Well done! I had a dry weekend. Yesterday was my only temptation because we had a bbq with my daughter-in-law to be and all that new family. Absolutely nothing in…
  • @JulieAL1969 Good job sticking to your limit and avoiding the stop on the way home. I am the exact same way, one equals 15 for me, or at least the desire for 15 more! It's not worth the work, it is so much easier for me to just not have the one right now...maybe forever....but I will deal with that later ;-) I remember…
  • Happy Thursday, friends! Wow, we have gotten to be so busy with so many new faces <3 It's inspiring and I love reading all of the new ideas and even struggles. We are not alone as we deal with this dang poison. Off to work, wishing you all strength today, whatever your goals. :*
  • Ditto,Norm! Good luck to you Wedndesday!
  • Today is my 100th day. Had some blips, as we say, but I just dusted myself off and got back to work. My counter shows I've saved almost $800! My skin and eyes look so much better and I remember all my dinners now! How many mornings I woke up wondering what I had eaten the night before...and I was the one COOKING the meal.…
  • Apparently my drinking CUE was last night. After stringing days....months!....together this really sucks. Hungover AF I do not like this at all. I didn't even drink THREE glasses of wine. Holy smokes the old me would be ashamed but the new me is just pissed off. Now to get ready for work with a screaming headache....…
  • https://www.alcoholexperiment.com/ Here should be a link, @JenT304 It is free to do the 30 day experiment and I highly recommend it. Each day there is new video by Annie and then a private journaling section to put down your thoughts on the day's topic. It was very helpful to me. I was nearly through This Naked Mind, but…
  • Hey @NormInv I'm sorry you are having the vacation blues :( , but your pictures are stunning! For some reason, I decided to have a damp weekend :# so I will start with you today. <3 <3 <3
  • That is what helped me so much the first 30 days. I had already listened to This Naked Mind, but going through each lesson and journaling was what I needed. Glad you are benefiting from them as well. I would wake up each morning so excited to start my lesson and then I made a donation so I can keep going back to those days…
  • @NovusDies this is really a key thing. Drinking is so easy but filling that void is the opposite. You really nailed it. I am 80+ days into this new normal and it requires so much more effort. I am not a goal oriented person, life just kinda happened to me, and now I have to do all this work! But I am learning it's worth…
  • The videos are a big part, for sure. It stinks they are hard to hear, though :( I loved the experiment and do not think I would be where I am without having gone through those 30 days of being really introspective and honest in the journal. It was so important to me that I gave a donation at the end because it goes "poof"…
  • Sounds like a wonderful day, despite the weather, I'm in Michigan so it's about the same here :( There certainly is no disappointment! You set out to change your relationship with alcohol and most certainly have done so. Now you are at a point where you can be mindful of your intake and have learned so much you will be…
  • Hello, friends! I just got back from Target where the wine witch was trying to get me to buy a bottle. I shut her up with an Americano from Starbucks and then walked down the wine aisle without buying anything, just to show her who was boss ;-) Tomorrow is Day 75 <3
  • @wigi41 I love your Ode to Tea! Thank you for sharing, and now I am going to put on water for my new favorite ginger tea!!
  • I learned about This Naked Mind thanks to this thread. I have the book and also listened to it on Audible, joined Annie's 30 day Alcohol Experiment (that was amazing for me) and her FB group is absolutely filled with so much support. I am on Day 70 and sparkling water is a constant for me! Congrats on your new way of life!
  • Great link to start this month on, @JulieAL1969 Can't wait to crush another 30 days with y'all! <3
  • Here is our new "home" <3 http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10655453/less-alcohol-april-2018-one-day-at-a-time#latest
  • I use two apps, I Am Sober and Sober Time. I only check them a couple times a week to confirm my days because I was getting slightly obsessed about counting. I felt like constantly thinking about non drinking days was counterproductive because all I was thinking about was alcohol. So, I had to take a chill pill in that…
  • @wigi41 Thank you so much for posting that, it brought tears to my eyes. It's amazing how your change in behavior is impacting your husband, and without words, it seems. I guess that is what has been happening here, like @JulieAL1969 had said, we don't know who is being inspired or encouraged by sharing our experiences. I…
