Feel free to add me! I seem to spend most of my days running my three kids to their lacrosse and swim teams so I'm not on as much as I like to be.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to check out that video robosgonefish.

I started running because everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) in my family runs. My husband runs marathons and my daughters (13, 12, and 8) are working up to half marathons and are triathletes. Every one of our family functions/vacations now seem to revolve around a run. Want to go to the beach? We can run the Shamrock. Want to…

I didn't even think about the IT band since I wasn't having any pain in my hips. I used our roller this morning before my run and decided to run/walk. I also shortened my stride and pace during the running portions. I didn't have any pain for the first 3 miles. I'm going to do some of the exercises and use the roller and…

Thank you all for your responses and suggestions. csaul777, my daughter has some KT Tape so I think I'll look up the videos and give it a try. I don't know why it never occurred to me. Suzmp85, hope you figure out what's wrong with your knee. charltonspinn, I think I will end up having to make an appointment with my…

Thanks. I will definitely work on changing my stride on my next run and see if it helps. I shortened my stride when the pain kicked in and I noticed when I took shorter steps it helped to ease the pain somewhat and enabled me to finish up my runs. I worked the Brooks into rotation a couple of weeks before my half. I may…

I'm currently following Hal Higdon's Novice 2 Marathon plan. Running 4-8 miles just about every other day right now. I stopped the XT day when the knee started acting up. I was also doing a squat challenge and stopped that immediately. I'm running the Army 10-miler on the 20th I don't want to miss it because we won't be…

I have this problem on the elliptical too and no matter how I changed my foot position, or how loose I laced my shoes, my feet still went numb. I really believe it was the angle of the footpads. I just ended up giving up on the elliptical and went back to the treadmill. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I wanted to let…

You can add me. I'm 39 with 3 girls ages 13 ( she thinks she's 18), 11, and 8. Like you, I stay busy chasing them around and running them to their various activities. I have 11 more pounds to lose. Michelle

My name is Michelle and I live in the D.C. area too. I was very reluctant runner. I never had any desire to run until my husband started taking up running marathons and my kids started getting involved in the kid's races. It didn't take long before the kids were wanting to run longer distances. Two of the kids even…

Another benefit of buying your running shoes from a running store is that they generally give you several days to run in your new shoes to determine if they are the right fit. If they cause problems you can return them no questions asked. One of my local stores only gives you 15 days to try out the shoes. Some larger chain…

There might be a group in your area. Two of my daughters belong to a youth triathlon team in our area that is part of a larger adult training group. We pay to belong to our group, but that money gets them training, team suits and tech gear. Their training consists of runs, biking, strength training, transition training…
