Only over the course of about six weeks, not all in one day.

Wish I had your problem....I recalculate my goals after I weigh in and lose, usually about a 1-2 pounds every two weeks. MFP then decides I need LESS to eat. LOL. Seems weird it's telling you to eat more. What's your activity level set at?

Like others have said in this thread, bump up your NET caloric intake a little- maybe to 1300-1400 or say. Give it time to work. I know eating more seems so wrong when you're trying to lose weight. But your body gets used to it and hangs on to every calorie you put in your mouth. OP- if you really want to be healthy and at…

Wishful thinking here....if MFP required users to read and agree to terms of using the site, and the things they advocate, (as in nothing you stated) maybe, just maybe, it would help. But they say I'm a dreamer.

 You Scottish laddies know how to live!

From what I'm getting from your question, you're not really questioning an HRM's accuracy as much as people putting down every day things and showing a large amount of calories burned. Or, as the case of many of the friends on my feed, burning a large amount of calories for something and you just know that can't be right.…

Well, if you feel as if the calories burned is correct, then you're not eating enough on several of the days I looked at. The days where you still had 100-200 calories left are okay- I usually try to be within +/- 100 calories of my goal. But you have days where you still have 700 to 900 calories left and that's not really…

I noticed that this past Sunday it says you burned 1174 calories. What kind of exercises are you doing? Where are you getting your calories burned from? Because there are several days where it shows you've burned over 600 calories. I'm just curious about that- if it's off then you can either be under-eating or over-eating.

Oh, and developing fish gills and breathing underwater is even worse. I mean, they breathe in and swim in their own poop.

Get with Matt Damon. He's not going to pee until everyone has access to clean water. He might have some tips for you.

It's not a forbidden topic, just a highly debatable one. I can say with all assurance that I would never do this.

I also have a Polar FT4. To be safe I only record 75% of the calories it says I burned. I figure I would've burned the other 25% just doing my usual activity. So I only eat back 75% of my calories burned.

No, it's not accurate, it's just an estimate. If you're going to use the treadmill on a regular basis you should really get a heart rate monitor.

Aye, lass, me sees scurvy in yer future, me does.

Yes, you got that right! That was my point all along!

You must not have young children. I wouldn't have been able to enjoy my "treat" with him badgering me, as he usually does. He talks non-stop and always wants my attention.

My dh took me to Long John Silver's for lunch one day. He honestly thought that battered and fried fish was healthy. I am slowly trying to educate him. But at least he doesn't pester me to eat stuff.

Then this should be your early birthday present to yourself- staying active and eating healthy.

To each their own. I try to limit my consumption of red meat. I certainly would never tell a vegetarian/vegan that they needed to eat red meat.

I'm 5'7" and had always weighed around 115-120. I was one of the lucky ones- I could eat anything and I wouldn't gain weight. However, in 2003 I started experiencing problems and my weight went down to 103, and I couldn't keep anything down. My doctor put me on Zyprexa and I started gaining weight. And gaining and gaining…

OP here: Thank you for all the encouragement and advice. I really didn't mean for this topic to turn into beating a dead horse (muscle-fat and all that stuff). I will keep plugging away.

That's why I don't click on the link. I figured it was some kind of scam. Sorry you had to go through it!

I'm really glad brussel sprouts are on the list. They look evil.

I had a surprise baby at the age of 41. Five years later I saw some people whom I hadn't seen since my son was a baby. They asked me when his little brother or sister was due. I just said, "I'm too old for another baby, but not too old to be fat."

I just got the Polar FT4 in pink and I love it. Super simple and not too fancy. ETA: I paid $89 for it at D I c k's Sporting Goods.

Yes. MFP's goals are set so that you eat back your exercise calories.

If you're having a hard time giving up soda, do it gradually. I pretty much went cold turkey and it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, because I drank flavored water at first. Now I just drink plain water. You can do it!
