  • Feel free top add me! I'm 5'10. I lost 50 lbs using MFP 4 years ago… and now 10 have crept back on so I am back at it again :) Looking for some support as well, feel free to add me
  • Also looking for a twin! I am a VERY busy mom of 2 active (hockey playing) kids. I work as kindergarten teacher and struggle to find time to make healthy meals and work out (in amongst the craziness of work, prep&planning, kids homework and hockey, etc). - as an aside, I'm CANADIAN! 39 years old & 5'10" SW:194 (I started…
  • We are pretty close! I'm 39 years old & 5' 10" SW:194 (I started in 2011, lost 50lbs in less than a year, have mostly maintained since but it is now creeping back on...) CW: 151 GW: 140 (I was down to 142 in 2012 but 140 is a "nicer" number) Family vacation in Maui this April, so I am refocused and back on MFP to get beach…
  • Okotoks, Alberta!
  • Yup, I can relate. I never realized how big I was, until I lost the weight. Now I look at old picture and think wow - I was fat!
  • Don't forget to eat back all your excercise calories (MFP has a deficit already worked in). Also make sure you are only set to lose .5 to 1lb per week (anything else is unrealistic and unsustainable). Lastly, are you sure your excercise calories are correct? Most machines (and MFP references) are a gross underestimation. A…
  • Lots of herbal tea, gum and the occasional sugar free candy.
  • My goal weight has been a moving target since I started MFP last January. I am 5'10" and my starting weight was 194lbs. My initial goal weight was 160 (based on BMI), but then when I met that, I reevaluated and set a net goal weight of 150lbs (my weight of 9yrs and 2 pregnancies ago). Then I met that one, looked in the…
  • You can buy tall shirts from Eddie Bauer online. I usually go into the store to check the fit of something, and if it looks good, but just needs a few more inches in length and in the arms then i go ahead and order the same sine in a tall online ( I am 5'10 and their medium tall shirts fit me well). If you live in the…
  • I am 5'10" and I buy my jeans at the Gap. They come in ankle, regular and tall. I couldn't buy them there before (when I was heavy) because they only carry long in sized under 14. I just buy my dress pants at Reitmans (I am in Canada). They have select styles in tall and that works for me. My biggest challenge is with…
  • It's not cheating if you log it. I have been known to workout a little extra to budget for a glass (or two) of red wine :)
  • Same for me - I don't log everything, everyday like I used to... just when I start creeping up again (like now, post Christmas). I am also lazy, and do a lot of "quick add calories" - reading my diary wouldn't always make a lot of sense :)
  • Numi brand Roobios and Tazo Vanilla Roobios are my favorites!
  • No one ever got fat eating apples! ...apple pie maybe, but not apples!

  • For a "fruit option," try cooking 1cup of blueberries with 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup... bring to a boil, then thicken with 1Tbsp cornstarch mixed with a bit of water. It is sweet, loaded with fibre and tons of antioxidants! (I also just substitute 1/2 the flour in my fav pancake recipe with whole wheat - tastes great!
  • I am down about 50lbs, and my husband is down close to 30lbs... Halloween 2010 Halloween 2011
  • I was a 36DD at my highest weight of 194lbs. I am currently a 34C at 145lbs. I LOVE being able to buy "off the rack" (pardon the pun), bras.
  • Try evaporated skim milk (in the canned goods section).
  • I can't view your food diary, but I am guessing that processed foods are the culprit. I would recommend avoiding processed foods (including restaurant food) as much as possible. On foods that you must buy processed - read the labels carefully! There is a huge variation in the sodium content of various salad dressings,…
  • I like to do both: 1/2hr on the elliptical followed by 1/2hr power walk (2.0 incline) on the treadmill. I feel the elliptical more in my legs, so the treadmill is a nice stretch after.
  • Safeway Low - Fat Mountain Grain Bread is my favorite! 140cal for 2 slices and it is so yummy (lots of seeds and grains in it).
  • I was experiencing pain in my right buttocks when walking on the treadmill. I consulted my physiotherapist about this. After watching me walk on the treadmill she corrected my poor posture and I haven't had problems since.
  • I agree that BMI is a bit of a gross generalization. Everyone's body structure / build is different (part of the reason for such a huge wight range for healthy BMI). If you are concerned about that range being realistic for you, I would suggest talking to your doctor as they have access to more information about you. The…
  • I have lost 18lb since Jan 2. 9 of those pounds came off in the first month.
  • Just get moving! Walking is excellent exercise. Add hills and stairs to your route if you want. I have lost 18 lbs in 2 months by counting calories and walking an hour a day (I cover about 6K / 3.8mi). Exercise doesn't have to be fancy and it doesn't have to cost $$.
  • A great explanation by Celo24! I would add that using a HR monitor (either alone or linked to a workout machine such as a treadmill) gives a much more accurate reflection of cal burned.
