  • I made a really tasty curried squash soup (kabocha from our garden, with chicken soup base, onions, almond milk, curry powder and garam masala). I made extras foe Thursday. So glad my husband is doing this with me.
  • I want to sign up for a challenge. Just not sure what I can manage. I haven't even been to the gym this week.
  • My husband made an amazing fast-night dinner last night. He steamed flounder with peas, asparagus, and onions, with lots of seasoning. It was very satisfying, and came in under 200 calories. I've lost 7 pounds in 5 weeks, and I'm feeling like I could do this for the long haul.
  • I'm in my 4th week, and I'm losing weight. I didn't lose 3.5 pounds in a week, but it's been steady. More to the point, I'm not as bloated as I had been, my clothes fit better, and I feel better.
  • @KateNkognito What challenge are you doing? I'm only getting about 5000 steps on school days, and this long weekend I did housework and lesson planning.
  • We've been painting, so I'm in the same boat. Pacer says I'm "sedentary."
  • We started school yesterday, and had our second fast day for the week, and I am so exhausted. Not much exercise because we had no time. I'm hoping next week is better.
  • Our garden is about a third of an acre, but only about half is planted right now. We've fenced it in and are expanding the size of the cultivated area a little at a time. We hope to raise enough to feed ourselves and sell some to the local market, but we're not there yet. We also have (just to add to the work) chickens,…
  • @oolou and @flumi_f Thanks for the suggestions. We decided we would count on non-fast days for a couple of weeks (basically until school starts, or maybe through the first week of school) just so we have a baseline. Generally, I pack the same lunch for both of us, but I think I will increase my husband's by at least half.…
  • @KateNkognito Thanks. I'm just picturing us carrying around food all day to try and reach our calorie goals. Since my husband will be an aide in pre-K this year, I don't think that would be a good idea!
  • My husband and i had our first fast day yesterday, and it went pretty well. It probably helped that we were busy all day painting our living room. I am in back to school mode, too, and am wondering how to handle fast days at school. Plus, using a TDEE calculator, I learned that I should be eating 1800 calories on non-fast…
  • I'll be curious to see what kinds of responses you get. I started this last week. My TDEE -20% is 1649 and BMR is 1489, which seems like a lot (and is 249 calories more than my nutritionist recommended). I've been on a weight-loss program through my insurance since December, which includes personal training and…
  • Awesome! And tiring, I'm sure. I remember making and loading hay as some of the hardest work I've ever done. And guess what? We just bought a (very small) farm, so I foresee haymaking in my future -- though probably not 100+ bales.
  • Up until this past June, I believe this was true for me. I was working full time and also working toward my Master's degree in Special Ed. The classes were all online, so my computer time was limited to listening to lectures or doing online reading and research. I felt as if I really needed at least 2 or 3 more hours in…
