Ugh! Y’all! I need some serious help! I started exercising again and I thought I was being careful about what I’m eating... drinking more water, etc., but guess what. I’m GAINING weight. What the actual hell? I feel like even more of a cow than when I started! I just want to give up and say screw this. It’s not worth the…

Oh man... definitely portion control and craving bad foods like chips. If I'm hungry I usually over-fill my plate. Less than halfway in, I can feel that I'm full, but I still eat the whole plateful. And if it's something bad, like chips, or hot wings... As I type this, my mouth is watering just thinking of these types of…

Hello all! After three years of pursuing a master's degree, working full time and being mom to two and foster mom to one I have definitely let myself go. Time to get back on that horse and get strong again. I can't believe how much my muscles have disappeared! TBH... I hate exercising. It's a real challenge to get myself…

To quote my favorite trainer... "You can't train away a bad diet." If I'm going to eat fat, I make sure it's "good" fat - one that is high in nutrient density (i.e. omega 3's). As a whole, if you are eating mostly plant derived fats and sugar from natural sources (fruits and veggies - not refined sugar) you are eating…

I am having the same issue. I have to re-sync the apps every time I log on. Just started a few days ago for me. I'm contacting BMF to see what's up.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. I agree with others that for some people eating 1200 cal. or less a day is way too low. I'm exercising 4-5 days per week and have drastically cut out sugar from candy, sweets, coffee drinks, etc. I've changed up my diet to include a ton of veggies and fruit as well. When I hit…

At your suggestions I tried some modified push ups this morning... Using a fist instead of a flat hand really, really helped. Thank you for all of your ideas!!

Yes... This does help. It's still pretty uncomfortable, though.

Thanks, all! I agree with the advice on water. I typically get 8-10 glasses, but know when exercising more is needed. Also - I drink a lot of coffee in the morning so that could also affect the water balance...

From what I've researched on the internet from various personal trainers, a cheat day is important to incorporate - within limits. After restricting the body's caloric intake for a period of time, lots of people find that they plateau. The general consensus is that this situation will resolve itself after a few weeks,…

I agree... It's all about balance. Unless you have a medical condition that requires you to limit carbs, potatoes are a great addition to any diet plan as long as (like the OP said) you don't load 'em up with a ton of fat.

I've done 30DS, Build Muscle Burn Fat and Cardio Kick Box and for some reason NMTZ really kills me. I've done it three times now and I can get through all the circuits but not without taking a break. I also have to do a modified plank (on my knees).

Ham, Cheese & Spinach quiche. Although, after entering the recipe into MFP I do believe I'll be pealing off the crust!

Well said!! The most important thing we can do as parents is to lead by example. Children are little sponges and they soak up everything around them. If mom and dad are healthy and active, so too will be our kiddos!

Such a wonderful and well thought-out answer! Thank you for your encouraging words... They really do make a difference. :)

Such fantastic information! Many thanks to you all for your support during this confusing experience! Wow... what would we do without the internet??!!?

Thanks, guys... Yes, it has been a learning experience to say the least! The diet is actually really, really good for the whole family. Plus, he is motivated to get this under control so he doesn't have to inject insulin. His blood sugars are really high (his fasting sugars started out at over 240, now down to 160 a few…

Perhaps try taking measurements... A personal trainer once told me that sometimes when we plateau we are seeing our body's muscle mass grow at an equal rate as our fat loss. That muscle sure looks a whole lot better and in the long run will burn more calories while we rest. Chin up, Sugarlump! You are doing all the right…

Hello! Just joined the 30 Somethings group this morning. It's time for me to get serious about losing weight and, more specifically, eating healthy (diagnosed with high cholesterol last week and DON'T want to take any medication!). I was happy to find a group for us in our 30's since we all can probably attest, it's…

Briefly looking through your diary I can see that there is an excess of sodium (one of my main issues too!!). Also, I have a really bad habit of underestimating how much I'm eating. I started measuring everything for a few weeks so I could get a good idea of what a serving really looks like. Once I seriously got my…

Heck yeah!! This is what I've been looking for... Not the "awww... you'll do better tomorrow" crowd. My name is Stacey.
