  • It sure isn't going to get better. You have to put your foot down and not cave in when he moans. Are there any tasks he is good at? DIY, Gardening, hoovering, washing up. Put him in charge of specific tasks or insist that he cooks on alternate days. Or get used to living in a pigsty and don't do anything either.
  • Sorry Jonnythan but I'm afraid you don't know everything. You just think you do. And I dare say that nothing will change your mind.
  • Yes, some people put on weight more easily than others. A lifetime of observation has shown me it is true and it is great to see science is finally catching up. Regardless of this, we are stuck with the cards we have been dealt. It is no use bemoaning the fact that some of us need to be a bit more careful than others - we…
  • It sounds to me like you have an eating disorder. You are not eating enough and I think if you did count the calories that would be even more obvious. The fact that you are taking laxatives is very worrying and is not going to help you absorb the nutrients from the little you are eating. You are probably not losing weight…
  • I had the same issues with binging on non-fast days and quit after 5 months. I hadn't lost an ounce over all that time and had actually put a bit on. I think you need slightly more than 500 calories if you are overweight already although my already slim friends have done well on it.
  • Dear 16 year old me. A' levels are much harder than O' levels and you need to WORK to get good grades. You think you are fat but you ain't seen nothing yet! Enjoy being 8 stone and don't start eating too much just because the other people around you can get away with it.. you can't and it will become a habit. Oh, and by…
  • The low carb/high protein/intermittent fasting tactics indicated in the article all work for some (or even many) people. I doubt if it is the miracle cure for obesity implied by the article but it is probably as effective as most approaches to dieting (i.e. not very effective but better than nothing).
  • If your doing lots of workouts and only eating 1200 calories pd you are not eating enough! No wonder you feel hungry!
  • I think you should deduct your BMR calories for the time spent exercising from the calories expended according to the heart monitor to get the EXTRA calories burned.
  • Try cutting carbs to around 100 or if too difficult 150 but avoid them in the evening.
  • Fruit sugar is fructose and fructose is not good for the system. Therefore don't eat too much fruit. Those highest in fructose are bananas and tropical fruit. Lowest are berries. Check this out... http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/nutrition/a/fructosedangers.htm

  • I have read that you are only sedentary if you are unable to move through disability or bed-bound and that lightly active is exercising 1-3 times a week. Therefore you are at least moderately active.
  • Bella, Well done you!
  • Also over 50 and single but find it easier that way. It's so hard to lose weight when someone is munching sweets the other side of the room! Also it's better if there are no biscuits in the house. I'm doing low carb at the moment. Trying to stick to 20g of carbs a day but as many calories as I want. Anyone else doing that?
