  • I restarted this time slowly, by doing the same thing you described. I was having trouble fighting the urge to binge. So for a week or so I just focused on being below maintenance, when I focused on getting a little exercise. This worked better for me because the guilt over going over my calories and binging was making me…
  • Hey, add me and message me if you like. I'm restarting slowly after being derailed by binging. I downloaded a sobriety counter app to help keep track of my time since binging (and drinking). I've found therapy and mindfulness to be the most helpful when fighting the compulsion to binge.
  • It is going to be 50 today in Buffalo. I'm beyond excited, I'm so sick of the treadmill. I just want to go for a walk.
  • Honestly even if you've opened it and used some I'd try to return it. Just tell them you didn't like it. They'll probably at least give you store credit that you could use to get some vitamins or protein powder for smoothies. I've returned a lot of weird stuff to stores.
  • Congratulations on your weight loss! This is really frustrating. The instructor of my anatomy and physiology class told me that I should stop calorie counting and start swapping out my foods for "healthier" versions. Everyone was agreeing with her. But I'm the one successfully losing weight (I'm down 35 pounds). Yeah it…
  • You might want to increase your calories a little. I've had some mood swings when I'm not eating enough. I get really short tempered though. So you might have something different going on.
  • Luckily, in this case these aren't people studying to be doctors. I'm in a medical coding program, so no one will have contact with patients. But a lot of them have a medical background, so I guess I just assumed they would know better.
  • I've been struggling with this a little bit. In my Anatomy and Physiology last week there was a lot of woo going around. One guy has complaining that doing situps isn't reducing his belly fat (of course we know you can't spot reduce fat) and someone told him he just needed to do a different exercise. Then another girl has…
  • Sawbones is really funny medical show that focuses on the crazy medicine people use. Not exactly health and fitness, but I always learn something interesting.
  • Polar Grapefruit is truly the greatest. However I'm too cheap to buy it all the time and instead make my own soda water with a Sodastream.
  • Looks good to me. Losing weight while breastfeeding has been a little tough for me because it's made me a lot hungier, but when I can keep the hunger at bay the weight flies off. I'd recommend taking that baby on lots of walks (depending on the weather of course). I've got a 1 year old now that I'm still breastfeeding.…
  • I would suggest therapy or at least doing a little reading on mindfulness. It has helped me to control my binges a lot. I've been struggling with the same thing, eating past being full and feeling out of control about it. I try to stop and ask myself why I'm eating. If it's just because there's food in front of me, or…
  • @MondayJune22nd2015 I just wanted to vent a little frustration about my mom being annoying. I don't think her reading something on Pinterest and then mentioning it to me is grounds for her to lose her job. I was purposefully vague about her job, but yeah she doesn't interact with patients. Regardless, I don't think her…
  • I usually prep for the whole week. I make two different meals to alternate as lunches and dinners depending on which one I feel like.
  • My mom, who is a hospital administrator and should know better, just got on Pinterest and has been asking me about detox drinks. I felt like I was talking to a high schooler.
  • Roasted chicken thighs. I started buying thighs because they're so cheap. One for lunch keeps me full longer than anything. They're higher calorie than other proteins, but they're so rich and fatty that I feel satisfied for a long time.
  • I lost my mind when that trainer suggested jumping on a trampoline to shake up the fat in the body. Also "taskercising" would drive me crazy.
  • I watched a couple episodes of this too. I think the guy putting butter in his coffee is on the "Wild" diet, the bald guy is on the "no diet" diet. The "Wild" diet looks a lot like Paleo, which works for some people (I've never tried it, CICO works best for me). I kind of like this show, it's a little silly and…
  • For me therapy is invaluable. It's made me much more successful. Also a lot of the things other people suggested: I preplan my meals and prelog them the night before. Set yourself up for success. And this time around, I'm not giving up. I fail a lot, sometimes once or twice a week I give into my depression/addiction, but I…
  • Thanks, it was a little snug, but it felt good to have a non scale victory. I think I'm going to go searching through some boxes for a vintage dress I bought that never fit and hang that up now.
  • I think that's great. I had my Halloween costume hanging in my room for motivation for about a month, now it fits (mostly it's a little short), I need to find something new to hang. I've never been thin though, so I've got no pictures.
  • I don't log my breastfeeding, but make sure to eat back all my exercise calories. I'm losing weight pretty quickly and haven't had a problem with my milk supply.
  • Tried on my prom dress and it's loose, officially smaller than I was 6 years ago.
  • My digital food scale is less accurate when the battery is dying, other than that I trust it.
  • I don't make a ton of smoothies, but I find that pineapple usually does a good job of hiding the vegetable taste. I blend 1/2 cup pineapple, 1 cup kale, vanilla protein powder, and milk or reduced sugar orange juice plus ice.
  • I might swap it out for something else just because Red Bull is expensive. We all need a morning boost.
  • Yeah my mom has that problem. Maybe it has to do with how intense the workout really is. I'm pretty out of shape, so an intense workout for me is 9 minutes of running.
  • More intense exercise means more retained water in your muscles. You can try weighing yourself the morning after your rest day for a more accurate weight. I'll gain three pounds if I weigh myself the morning after running.
